The Tennessee Titans fired head coach Mike Vrabel on Tuesday after the team suffered a second consecutive losing season. Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk decided against trading Vrabel prior to making the decision to dismiss him.

When asked about whether she considered a trade, Strunk explained that she did, however, this move could have taken longer to implement, thereby resulting in the Titans losing time as they look to hire a replacement that meets their requirements.

“So, yes, we thought about it but at the end of the day with league rules the way they are it would have maybe put us back three weeks and you know, to get the right head coach I was just not willing to go to the back of the line and take a chance of missing out on someone we really wanted,” Strunk explained.

During his first four seasons with the Titans, Vrabel produced strong performances, ensuring a winning season each time while also clinching the AFC South in 2020 and 2021. 2023 was the first season when Vrabel’s Titans finished bottom of the division, ending the season with a 6-11 record.

The Tennessee Titans’ starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill will not play in the team’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night as he continues to battle through a right high ankle sprain. Titans coach Mike Vrabel wanted to monitor the starting quarterback’s progress throughout the week before coming to a final decision.

Tannehill was injured during the Titans’ Week 6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. As a result, he wore a cast on his injured foot for a few days before switching over to a walking boot.

Rookie Will Levis will fill in for Tannehill at quarterback on Thursday. In his NFL debut in the 28-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons last week, Levis completed 19 of his 29 pass attempts for 238 yards and four touchdowns.

This comes after the 24-year-old player threw four touchdown passes during his NFL debut during Sunday’s 28-23 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Levis stepped in for regular starter Ryan Tannehill, who suffered a right high ankle sprain in the Titans’ 16-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in London back in Week 6. Still in recovery, Tannehill’s setback is reminiscent of his injury last season, when he missed two games as a result.

Completing 19 of his 29 pass attempts for 238 yards and four touchdowns, Levis has had an almost immediate impact on the Titans in Tannehill’s absence. Levis is the third NFL player in history to make four passing touchdowns in his first career game.

League sources revealed that the Tennessee Titans informed Derrick Henry that they do not plan to trade him before the upcoming deadline. This comes after the team received inquiries about the Pro Bowl running back from numerous teams.

While Henry is believed to be a highly valuable player to the Titans, it would not make much sense for the team to seek a trade for him given that his contract expires at the end of the season. Furthermore, the would-be free agent is set to earn $6.4 million over the rest of the season; a steep financial requirement for teams to meet.

On the off chance that a trade deal is pursued, an agreement would have to be in place before the end of Monday as the other team involved would most likely look to launch a counteroffer to save on their salary cap.

The Tennessee Titans’ quarterback Ryan Tannehill doesn’t want to spend much time thinking about a 16-15 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 1. The veteran signal-caller made that clear during a recent chat with reporters.

When asked about his feelings about the Saints’ loss, Tannehill said that he wants to move on from that game and wants to focus on the Week 2 clash against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Guys, I just want to move on,” Tannehill said. “I’m not going to answer any more questions about what happened Sunday. I’m not happy about it. No one in this building’s happy about it, but at the end of the day, it’s over.”

Tannehill particularly struggled in the season opener, completing only 16 passes out of 34 attempts and throwing for 198 yards. He also had three interceptions and failed to throw a single touchdown pass.

After the game, Tannehill received criticism from his head coach Mike Vrabel, who said that his quarterback “has to be better.”

“We have to hit guys that are open, and we can’t force the ball into double coverage,” Vrabel added.

If Tannehill continues to struggle, the Titans have several options behind him, although neither one seems fit for the team’s playoff aspirations. Second-year signal-caller Malik Willis looked solid in the preseason but didn’t impress while rookie Will Levis will need time to adjust to the NFL.

Sources revealed on Thursday that the Tennessee Titans are set to sign former Chicago Bears pass-rusher Trevis Gipson. The 26-year-old, who was released by the Bears on Tuesday, appeared to exhibit his excitement at the prospect of the trade by posting “Titan up let’s go!!!” on social media platform X.

Gipson enjoyed a breakout season with the Bears in 2021, hitting seven sacks and five forced fumbles that year. The pass-rusher’s performances dipped last season, however, when the Bears shifted from their 3-4 scheme to a 4-3 setu under first-year coach Matt Eberflus, managing just three sacks. A fifth-round selection in the 2020 draft, Gipson made 75 tackles and 10 sacks in 40 career games with the Bears.

The 26-year-old may have a decent chance at getting a starting role in the Titans’ lineup. The team’s 4-3 base defense includes Harold Landry III, Arden Key as their other starting linebacker, and Rashad Weaver expected to play a reserve role.

The Tennessee Titans have revealed more details about their new stadium, that will start construction early next year. The yet-to-be-named stadium will be worth $2.1 billion, have 62,000 seats, and is expected to be opened in time for the 2027 season.

The Titans shared a video on their social media that shows how the new stadium will look while also providing examples for additional uses.

The Titans are currently playing their home games at the 69,000-seat Nissan Stadium, which was built in 1999. The Titans initially planned to renovate their existing stadium but paused the efforts in 2022 due to “rising costs” and “the antiquated structure.”

The team announced its intention to build a new stadium in late 2022 and received approval from the city of Nashville to use $1.26 billion in public funding earlier this year. It is the largest public funding expenditure for a stadium, surpassing the $850 million Buffalo recently approved for the construction of the new home stadium for the Bills.

The Titans’ new home promises to afford fans a better experience with an improved seat layout. It will feature artificial turf and a translucent dome. The plan is to use the stadium to attract high-profile events to Nashville, like Super Bowl, College Football Playoffs, and more.

Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has made up his mind on where he wants to play in 2023. According to multiple reports from league insiders, Hopkins is set to sign a contract with the Tennessee Titans.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Hopkins will get a two-year deal that has a base value of $26 million and could be potentially worth $32 million. The veteran wideout will earn $12 million guaranteed this upcoming season, with an additional $3 million being available in incentives.

Hopkins spent the 2022 campaign with the Arizona Cardinals, where he had 64 catches for 717 yards and three touchdowns despite playing only nine games. The Cardinals ended up releasing him in May after the two sides couldn’t agree on a contract restructure that would lower his $30.75 million cap hit.

After becoming a free agent, Hopkins took time to decide on his next destination. He visited the New England Patriots but the Titans likely ended up being a more appealing option for the 31-year-old as he will immediately step in the No. 1 WR role.

The Titans hope Hopkins can elevate their WR room, which was considered one of the worst in the league. He will be a reliable target for veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill while taking away attention from last year’s first-round pick Treylon Burks.

If you are to believe the media reports, the Tennessee Titans have been shopping their star running back Derrick Henry for the better part of the offseason. But being mentioned in trade rumors doesn’t seem to be bothering Henry.

Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Henry said he had multiple conversations with Tennessee’s new general manager Ran Carthon and is “not worried” with all the chatter about his future with the franchise.

“Talking to him, meeting him in person,” Henry said. “I’ve put a face with the name. Just doing all of those things. When we get here, when we get to football, we’re not worried about that other stuff.”

Henry had another big year in 2022, making the Pro Bowl after rushing for 1,538 yards and 13 touchdowns. However, many believe that the Titans are ready to move on from him for a number of reasons.

First of all, the Titans might want to get younger and cheaper on the running back position, considering that Henry is 29 years old and will have a $16.3 million cap. Also, this offseason might be their only opportunity to get some assets in return, considering that his contract will have only two voidable years left after the 2023 campaign.

One of the biggest stories of the 2023 NFL Draft so far was the surprising fall of Kentucky’s quarterback Will Levis. Despite being predicted to go in the Top 5 in most mock drafts, Levis ended up being passed by every team that picked in the first round. But he didn’t have to wait for too long to get his name called out on the second night of the draft.

Levis ended up being selected at No. 33 by the Tennessee Titans, who acquired the pick from the Arizona Cardinals. As part of the deal, the Titans sent a second-rounder (No. 41 overall) and a third-rounder (No. 72) this year, and a third-round pick next year to Arizona.

Will Levis started 25 games in two seasons with the Kentucky Wildcats, completing 65.7% of his passes and throwing for 5,232 yards and 43 touchdowns. Ahead of the draft, the scouts were impressed by the strength of his arms, eye-catching throws, and ability to move the chains with his legs.

The knock on Levis was that he was inconsistent and had a tendency to make bad decisions. This was backed by the fact that he threw 23 picks in the past two years. Some reports also mentioned that teams were not impressed with his interviews.

Levis will now have a chance to prove everyone wrong in Tennessee, probably sooner than later. The Titans’ starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill is coming off a disappointing campaign in 2022, while there are concerns about backup Malik Willis’ readiness to play in the NFL.

“Last night was tough,” Levis said. “I knew that what was meant to be was going to happen. It’s one of those things where you feel like you’re going to handle yourself and be composed, but then the waterworks started flowing, and just emotions got overwhelming.”
