The Tennessee Titans fired head coach Mike Vrabel on Tuesday after the team suffered a second consecutive losing season. Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk decided against trading Vrabel prior to making the decision to dismiss him.

When asked about whether she considered a trade, Strunk explained that she did, however, this move could have taken longer to implement, thereby resulting in the Titans losing time as they look to hire a replacement that meets their requirements.

“So, yes, we thought about it but at the end of the day with league rules the way they are it would have maybe put us back three weeks and you know, to get the right head coach I was just not willing to go to the back of the line and take a chance of missing out on someone we really wanted,” Strunk explained.

During his first four seasons with the Titans, Vrabel produced strong performances, ensuring a winning season each time while also clinching the AFC South in 2020 and 2021. 2023 was the first season when Vrabel’s Titans finished bottom of the division, ending the season with a 6-11 record.
