The Chicago Bulls All-Star guard Zach LaVine recently gave an update about his recovery from a season-ending ankle surgery he had in early February. According to LaVine, he’s making good progress and is even “a little bit ahead of schedule”.

LaVine shared the update on Saturday while speaking with the reporters for the first time he had the surgery. According to LaVine, he’s feeling “really good” and that he will get the boot taken off in three weeks.

“I think the recovery was three, four months, [and] I’m a little bit ahead of schedule right now, so let’s just hope it stays that way,” he added.

Zach LaVine dealt with a number of injuries in 2023-24, missing stretches due to foot and shoulder issues before his ankle surgery. He managed to play just 25 games this season, averaging 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. His points average was his lowest since the 2017-18 campaign.

When LaVine returns to court next season, it might not be in the Bulls jersey. He and the Bulls agreed to look for potential trade earlier in the season, and it is expected that he will be on the market once again when he recovers. LaVine signed a five-year, $215.16 million deal with the Bulls in 2022, with the deal including a player option for 2026-27.

The NBA trade deadline came and went, but the Golden State Warriors didn’t engage in any deals despite various trade rumors surrounding the franchise. However, according to a recent report from NBC Sports’ K.C. Johnson, it wasn’t for lack of trying.

Johnson reports that the Warriors reached out to the Chicago Bulls in an attempt to acquire guard Alex Caruso. The two teams had various exploratory talks, but the Bulls just weren’t interested in what the Warriors had to offer.

Reportedly, Chicago was interested in making a deal only if the Warriors were willing to include forward Jonathan Kuminga. Golden State, on the other hand, viewed Kuminga as untouchable and preferred to center the package on young shooting guard Moses Moody.

Caruso has been in fine form this season, playing great defense as usual while averaging career-highs in points (9.8) and rebounds (3.8), alongside 2.9 assists and 1.4 steals. He drew interest from various other teams besides the Warriors, but the Bulls didn’t want to let him leave in a deal that would make their roster less competitive.

“We didn’t see anything that was going to make us better,” Bulls’ vice president Artūras Karnišovas explained after the NBA trade deadline concluded. “We would take a step back, which we don’t want. We want to stay competitive.”

Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine is expected to return from a foot injury within the next week, coach Billy Donovan confirmed. “I don’t know what the exact date’s going to be, but the way he’s progressing right now and the fact that he’s in full-fledged contact, [it’s] very, very positive,” Donovan confirmed.

Now poised to potentially play in the Bulls clash with the Charlotte Hornets next Friday, LaVine has missed the last 16 games as a result of right foot soreness. Over the past two days, LaVine has been training with Chicago’s G League franchise, the Windy City Bulls, with the All-Star expected to train with them yet again on Wednesday. Donovan confirmed that LaVine experienced no setbacks during any of his practice sessions with the G League team.

Prior to his setback, LaVine had shown signs of struggle this season, averaging 21 points per game and shooting 44.3% from the field and 33.6% from 3-point range – his worst numbers since his first season with the Bulls in 2017-18. Despite being without their star player, the Bulls have improved their form in LaVine’s absence, going 10-6 to go 10th in the Eastern Conference rankings.

The Chicago Bulls’ Lonzo Ball isn’t thinking of retiring despite still dealing with a knee injury that kept him sidelined for almost two years. Speaking with reporters during Bulls’ media day on Tuesday, Ball reiterated his intention to continue playing basketball.

“I definitely plan on playing again,” Ball said. “I’m only 25, I feel like the rehab process has been going well so far. No setbacks. So for me it’s just keeping my head up, just keep doing the work.”

Ball suffered a meniscus tear in January 2022 and had to undergo surgery that ruled him out for the rest of the 2021-22 season. The former second-overall pick missed the entire 2022-23 campaign, having two more surgeries on the same knee. The Bulls also indicated that they expect him to sit out the upcoming season as well.

“Rehab’s been long. Feels like every day is almost the same. I’m getting better each week, and that’s all I can ask for,” Ball added.

Ball arrived in Chicago ahead of the 2021-22 season and only managed to play 35 games in a Bulls jersey. The 25-year-old player played well before suffering an injury, averaging 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. He previously played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen are among the most iconic duos in the history of the NBA League. Together, they won six NBA titles and had two three-peats as members of the Chicago Bulls. But it is safe to say there is no love lost between the former teammates.

Pippen has long been critical of Jordan, taking offense at the fact that Jordan is credited with leading the Bulls to the titles and him being portrayed as his sidekick. Pippen previously made comments in which he took aim at Jordan on several occasions and has recently doubled down on them during his appearance on Gimme the hot sauce! podcast.

When asked about who should be considered the greatest player of all time (GOAT) by host Stacey King, Pippen said he believes basketball is a team sport. He mentioned several players that are up for discussion and then focused on Jordan, who is currently considered the basketball GOAT by the majority of fans.

Pippen said that Jordan shouldn’t be in the conversation because he was a “horrible player” before the two teamed up.

“I’ve seen Michael Jordan play before I came to play with the Bulls,” Pippen said. “He was a horrible player. He was horrible to play with. He was all 1-on-1. He was shooting bad shots. And all of a sudden, we become a team, and we start winning.”

Although not a lot of people will share Pippen’s opinion, it is true that Michael Jordan’s first three seasons with the Bulls didn’t amount to a lot of winning. He failed to get out of the first round in NBA playoffs during that period, and Chicago only started making deep playoff runs when Pippen landed with the franchise in 1987–88.

However, some would argue that it was actually Phil Jackson who got it all together, as the legendary coach won the NBA title in his second season at the helm before winning five more in the next seven years.

After missing out on Russell Westbrook, the Chicago Bulls decided to turn to another former Los Angeles Lakers point guard. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bulls plan to sign veteran Patrick Beverley.

Beverley became available after agreeing to a contract buyout with the Orlando Magic over the weekend. The 34-year-old player was traded to Orlando by the Lakers ahead of the NBA trade deadline in a four-team trade that also included the Denver Nuggets and the LA Clippers.

Beverley started all 45 games with the Lakers so far in 2022-23, averaging 6.4 points and 3.1 boards per contest,  his worst since the 2012–13 campaign.

The deal will see Beverley return to his hometown of Chicago. He is expected to give the Bulls more energy on the point guard position, while the team also hopes his defensive skills can help them make a push for the playoffs. Chicago is currently sitting at No.11 in Eastern Conference with a 26-33 record, trailing two games behind the Toronto Raptors, who hold the last play-in spot.

Patrick Beverley played with the Houston Rockets, the Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Lakers over the course of his NBA career. He has three NBA All-Defensive nods while averaging 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in his 11 years in the league.

The Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball posted a video of himself dunking on social media, explaining that he is making headway in his recovery from his left knee injury.

According to Bulls coach Billy Donovan, Ball is making small strides on the road to recovery and has shown signs of being able to do certain actions that he was incapable of six weeks ago.

“Is there pain there? Yes, there’s still some discomfort there,” Donovan said of Ball’s injury status. “I’m not trying to say what Lonzo’s pain is. But the question is does he have pain? Yes. Is it the same pain he was dealing with six weeks ago? No. How much better is it? It’s good enough that he can get on a treadmill and do some running and he can go jump and go dunk the ball.”

Ball stated during a team charity event last month that he is experiencing improvements in his surgically repaired knee, which appeared at the time to be his most positive update since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgeries on both knees last January.

The Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine scored a career-high 51 points as his team lost 118-102 in a tense game against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. In the first 50-point performance of the season, LaVine became the first Bulls player to score 50-plus points and no assists since Michael Jordan on November 6, 1996.

“It’s our third year here together, and we know how this business is,” LaVine said of his partnership with his teammates and coaching staff. “We all love each other. DeMar (DeRozan) is one of my best friends, and we talk all the time, but we have to figure out how to make this work.”

This defeat sees the Bulls slip to ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings with one win and two losses in three games. The Pistons have risen to fifth place with two wins and a loss.
