Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine is expected to return from a foot injury within the next week, coach Billy Donovan confirmed. “I don’t know what the exact date’s going to be, but the way he’s progressing right now and the fact that he’s in full-fledged contact, [it’s] very, very positive,” Donovan confirmed.

Now poised to potentially play in the Bulls clash with the Charlotte Hornets next Friday, LaVine has missed the last 16 games as a result of right foot soreness. Over the past two days, LaVine has been training with Chicago’s G League franchise, the Windy City Bulls, with the All-Star expected to train with them yet again on Wednesday. Donovan confirmed that LaVine experienced no setbacks during any of his practice sessions with the G League team.

Prior to his setback, LaVine had shown signs of struggle this season, averaging 21 points per game and shooting 44.3% from the field and 33.6% from 3-point range – his worst numbers since his first season with the Bulls in 2017-18. Despite being without their star player, the Bulls have improved their form in LaVine’s absence, going 10-6 to go 10th in the Eastern Conference rankings.
