The Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox has become the first professional athlete to sign a deal with Stephen Curry’s Under Armour brand, Curry Brand. While Curry has been with Under Armour since 2013, he launched his own brand under the company in 2020.

“This is definitely a special occasion. … To be able to partner with somebody like D-Fox while we’re still competing, while we’re still battling,” Curry said after the deal was signed. “For me to be sitting next to him, to understand what this opportunity really means and allow him to take it and run with it is a dream come true for me because there’s no better guy than him.”

Fox served as a Nike athlete during the first five years of his career before becoming a shoe-free agent last season. It was during that campaign that Fox’s reputation soared, with the player averaging 25 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.2 rebounds en route to being named as an All-Star. The Sacramento Kings couldn’t finish the job against the reigning NBA champions Golden State Warriors, after all. The Warriors got a comfortable 120-100 win in Game 7 on Sunday night, closing out the first-round series and eliminating the Kings from the playoffs.

The Warriors were led to the win by their superstar Stephen Curry, who delivered a performance for the history books. Curry scored 50 points, setting the record for most points by a player in Game 7 in NBA playoffs history. The previous record was held by Curry’s former teammate Kevin Durant, who had 48 while playing for the Brooklyn Nets against the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2021 Eastern Conference semifinals.

Curry finished the night shooting 20-of-38 while making seven three out of 18 attempts. He also added eight rebounds and seven assists.

As a result, he partially tore his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane and suffered a contusion to his lower left leg.

“Ligaments can heal in all different types of timelines,” Curry stated. “So there’s a window for each checkpoint. After the All-Star break, I will hopefully get back on the court, and then depending on how things go from there, we can key in on a specific date to get back.”

While Curry is able to do almost any non-basketball-related activity such as cycling and lifting weights, he insists that he is not yet at a stage in which he can test his body on the court.

According to reports, Curry won’t be back until after the All-Star break. Golden State’s head coach Steve Kerr confirmed that his star player would miss some time on Sunday but didn’t give any timetable on his possible return.
