The Phoenix Suns announced that they are signing veteran point guard Isaiah Thomas to a contract until the end of the season. Thomas previously played on two 10-day contracts with the franchise.

Thomas hasn’t played much so far with the Suns, spending 14 minutes on the floor in four games combined while scoring five points and adding two assists. However, the Suns reportedly want additional backcourt depth for the postseason while also appreciating his leadership and presence in the locker room.

Isaiah Thomas, who has two NBA All-Star nods to his name, last played meaningful basketball in 2021-22 when he averaged 8.4 points and 1.5 assists in 22 games with the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Charlotte Hornets. Thomas remained unsigned in 2022-23 and only returned to basketball this past March after signing with NBA G League side Salt Lake City Stars. He averaged 32.5 points and 5.3 assists in four games with before receiving a call-up from the Suns.

“I just spoke it into existence the last couple years,” Thomas said in a chat with reporters after signing the deal. “I spoke everything that’s happened in my career into existence, so it’s definitely not a surprise for me … I’m super grateful as always, appreciative of the opportunity. The Suns gave me an opportunity when no one else would.”

Veteran forward Thaddeus Young hasn’t spent much time on the free-agent market since being released by the Brooklyn Nets last week. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Young has agreed to a deal with the Phoenix Suns until the end of the season.

Young started the 2023-24 season with the Toronto Raptors, playing in 23 games and averaging 5.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per contest. He was traded to the Nets at the trade deadline alongside Dennis Schroder in a deal that saw Spencer Dinwiddie head to the Raptors.

Despite playing in a limited role with the Raptors, Young is expected to provide a big boost for the Suns. Phoenix has a questionable bench depth, and adding Young could go a long way in providing them with options, especially once the playoffs come.

Thaddeus Young is currently in his 17th season in the NBA. He entered the league as the 12th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2007 draft. Young spent seven seasons in Philly before embarking on stints with six more franchises, including the Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls. The 35-year-old player has averaged 12.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game since turning pro.

The Suns are currently sitting sixth in the Western Conference but have the Dallas Mavericks and the Sacramento Kings breathing down their neck.

The Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal is expected to be out for at least two weeks after he suffered a right ankle sprain, the team announced on Monday. The Suns star will be reevaluated at the start of January.

Beal incurred his injury during the Suns’ 122-139 loss to the New York Knicks on Friday night. He landed on the foot of Knicks shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo while attempting to throw a 3-pointer. He missed the Suns’ next game, a 112-108 win over the Washington Wizards on Sunday night, as a result.

This ankle sprain is the latest of Beal’s injury woes, with the player ruled out for three weeks in November as a result of his lingering back injury. As a result of this setback, the star guard has played just six games all season for the Suns. Intended to form part of the Suns’ star trio alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, Beal was acquired in a trade with the Wizards during the offseason. The trio has played together just once all season.

Kevin Durant’s 30 points were not enough for his Phoenix Suns to avoid a 119-111 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. However, it was more than enough to propel Durant into the Top 10 of the NBA’s All-Time scoring list.

Durant entered the Nuggets game as the 11th on the all-time scoring list in points but just 16 points behind Hall of Famer Moses Malone on No. 10. The 35-year-old made up the difference in the second quarter, scoring 17 points to get his NBA total to 27,410 compared to Malone’s 27,409.

Durant finished the game with 30 points to improve to 27,423 career points in the NBA. He needs 867 points to move to the No.9 spot, currently held by Carmelo Anthony.

“It’s a long journey to be up there, mentioned with the greats,” Durant said after the game. “It takes a lot of work, a lot of preparation, a lot of people helping me get to this point.”

Kevin Durant has been considered one of the best scorers in the game, winning the NBA scoring title four times. He averaged more than 25 points per game in all but one season as a pro and averaged more than 30 points twice.

Despite being 35, Durant isn’t showing signs of slowing down, currently leading the league in scoring with 31.2 points per game.

Kevin Durant missed out on the Phoenix Suns’ 110-89 in-season tournament win against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday due to right foot soreness. While the Suns’ talisman has suffered numerous injury setbacks in previous seasons, this is the first game of the current season that Durant has missed.

Durant has proven to be a critical factor in the success of the Suns’ offense this season, averaging 31.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 15 games. On Wednesday, the 35-year-old player scored 32 points and eight rebounds in the 123-115 triumph over the Golden State Warriors.

Joining the 13-time All-Star and four-time scoring champion on the sidelines during Friday’s win was Drew Eubanks with a left ankle sprain, Bradley Beal with a lower back strain, Damion Lee, who underwent right meniscus surgery, and Yuta Watanabe, with a left quad contusion.

The Phoenix Suns shooting guard Bradley Beal is expected to miss three weeks after he picked up a lower back strain. While he missed the first seven weeks of his Suns’ career due to his back injury, Beal played three games before being sidelined from Wednesday’s 133-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Acquired from the Washington Wizards in an offseason trade, Beal was expected to form a crucial part of the Suns’ big three alongside Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Unfortunately, Booker has faced injury woes of his own, playing in just three of the Suns’ 11 games because of ankle and calf strains.

In three starts, Beal is averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists. The three-time All-Star is expected to be reevaluated at the conclusion of the three-week period.

We finally had the opportunity to see All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal in action as a member of the Phoenix Suns. Beal made his debut for the franchise on Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls, but it wasn’t all fireworks as many expected it to be.

Beal managed to score only 13 points, having a poor shooting night that saw him go 3-of-12 from the field. However, the 30-year-old player was solid in other areas, adding four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

While Beal wasn’t at his best, the Suns ended up getting a win thanks to strong performances from Kevin Durant, Jusuf Nurkic, and Grayson Allen. Durant had 25 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds, while Nurkic finished the night with 20 points, 17 rebounds, and eight assists. Allen added 26 points with a career-high eight threes.

Bradley Beal joined the Phoenix Suns this offseason in a blockbuster trade from the Washington Wizards. The Suns gave up a huge package to get Beal, handing over four first-round pick swaps and six second-round picks alongside Landry Shamet and Chris Paul to the Wizards. Beal played two games with Phoenix in the preseason but ended up missing the first seven games of the 2023-24 campaign due to back tightness.

The Suns are yet to showcase their Big 3 of Durant, Beal, and Devin Booker, although that moment should come sooner than later. Barring any setbacks, Booker is expected to return to action this week following calf strain issues.

Devin Booker has been ruled out of the Phoenix Suns’ first home game of the season against the Utah Jazz on Sunday after he suffered an ankle injury. This comes after new Suns guard Bradley Beal had already been ruled out of the game due to a back injury, pushing his debut for the Suns further back.

Booker’s absence will be sorely felt by the Suns, having averaged 32 points last season as well as 24 points over his first nine seasons in the NBA. All of his 531 games and 506 starts have been with the Suns.

The clash with the Jazz is the second consecutive game that Booker will miss after he scored 32 points in the Suns’ season-opening 108-104 victory against the Golden State Warriors. Phoenix struggled in their subsequent game without Booker, falling to a 100-95 loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Damian Lillard trade saga is over. The Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly sending Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team trade that also includes the Phoenix Suns.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the trade will see the Blazers receiving All-Star guard Jrue Holiday, first-round pick in 2029, and pick swaps in 2028 and 2030 from the Bucks. They will also get center Deandre Ayton and forward Toumani Camara from the Suns.

Phoenix, on the other hand, receives center Jusuf Nurkic, forward Nassir Little, and shooting guard Keon Johnson from the Blazers alongside shooting guard Grayson Allen from the Bucks.

The move is a clear sign of the Bucks’ determination to bounce back after a disappointing season and establish themselves as an NBA title contented once again. They now have one of the best duos in the league in Lillard and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and a capable roster around them that includes All-Star Khris Middleton and Defensive Player of the Year candidate Brook Lopez.

The Blazers, on the other hand, officially launched their rebuild. They added a talented center in Ayton while parting ways with Lillard, which also enables them to focus on developing their young guards, Scoot Henderson and Anfernee Simons. On top of that, they will get extra draft compensation as they are already having trade talks to move Holiday.

Finally, the Suns move from Ayton, who has had a troublesome relationship with the franchise, and get his big contract off their books. In return, they received Nurkic, who is considered a better fit for their roster and is on a cheaper contract. On top of that, Little, Johnson, and Allen provide them with a badly needed depth at several positions.

Damian Lillard spent all of his 11 years in the NBA with the Blazers. He made seven All-Star appearances during that time while being named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. Lillard helped the Blazers to eight playoff appearances since entering the league in 2012 and led the team to the Western Conference Finals in 2019.

The Phoenix Suns continued to have a busy offseason. The franchise traded point guard Cameron Payne to the San Antonio Spurs over the weekend while also agreeing to a deal with free-agent center Bol Bol.

The Suns are sending Payne and a future second-round pick to the Spurs in exchange for a future second-round pick. The franchise also made a deal with the Orlando Magic, surrendering first-round pick swap rights in 2026 for three second-round selections.

By trading Payne to the Spurs, Phoenix saved themselves $26.4 million in luxury tax while also getting a $6.5 million trade exception. The 28-year-old spent the past three years with the Suns, playing mostly as a backup for All-Star Chris Paul. He struggled with health issues in 2022-23, being limited to 48 games in which he averaged 10.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.

The expectation is that the newly-acquired All-Star guard Bradley Beal will take on the point guard duties for the Suns. The franchise is also willing to give third-year player Jordan Goodwin a chance to showcase his playmaking abilities.

Signing Bol Bol, on the other hand, gives Phoenix a ball-handling center that can step in when starter DeAndre Ayton is resting. Bol is coming off his best season in NBA, having averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 70 games with the Orlando Magic last season.
