Since joining Inter Miami last season, Argentine star attacker Lionel Messi has helped the MLS side to recruit a number of his former teammates, including Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez. As it turns out, there is one more player interested in a reunion with Messi.

Brazilian star forward Neymar recently had a chat with ESPN Argentina and was asked about the prospects of playing with Messi once again.

“Hopefully we can play together again. Leo is a great person, everyone knows him in football and I think he is very happy and if he is happy, I am too,” said Neymar.

Neymar and Messi first teamed up with Barcelona, playing together with the La Liga giants between 2013 and 2017. The two won eight trophies together, including two La Liga titles and one UEFA Champions League trophy. They reunited again in 2021 when Messi signed with Paris Saint-Germain and won back-to-back Ligue 1 titles.

Neymar left PSG in the summer to join Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal in a €90 million transfer. However, he managed to play only five games for his new club, scoring one goal and adding three assists, before suffering a devastating knee injury while on international duty with Brazil. He is expected to return to action in late 2024.

Brazil forward Neymar will miss the 2024 Copa America in the United States as he continues to recover from the serious knee injury that he suffered in October. “It’s too early,” Brazil’s team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar revealed. “There’s no point in skipping steps to recover sooner and taking unnecessary risks. Our expectation is that he will be prepared to return at the start of the 2024 season in Europe, which is August.”

Neymar tore the cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee during his country’s 2-0 loss to Uruguay in their World Cup qualifier on October 18. He underwent surgery two weeks later. This injury came just two months after he arrived at Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 2024 Copa America will take place from June 20 until July 14, just weeks before Neymar’s expected return from injury. The forward’s absence will be of grave concern to Brazil, given that he is the nation’s all-time top scorer with 79 goals in 129 appearances. Brazil find themselves in Group D, alongside Colombia, Paraguay, and the winner of the playoff between Costa Rica and Honduras.

Brazil’s star forward Neymar suffered a serious knee injury that will result in a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The 31-year-old player got hurt during a World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay on Tuesday.

Neymar’s club, Al Hilal, confirmed the news on Wednesday, announcing that the Brazilian is dealing with a torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee.

The Saudi Pro League side didn’t share any estimates about how long it will take for Neymar to return to action. But, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reportedly believes he will recover in time for next year’s Copa America, which is scheduled to take place between June 20 and July 14.

The injuries have been the story of Neymar’s career in recent years. This includes an ankle injury he sustained in March that required him to have surgery and miss the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign.

After a decade in Europe, during which he played with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar decided to take his talents to Saudi Arabia this past summer. He signed a two-year contract with Al Hilal that will reportedly earn him $300 million.

Neymar played five games with his new club, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

Neymar scored two goals on Friday to help Brazil national team get a 5-1 win over Bolivia and managed to make some history in the process. The new Al Hilal forward ended the night as the nation’s all-time leading goalscorer, surpassing the legendary Pele.

Pele scored 77 goals for Brazil in international matches between 1957 and 1971. Neymar, who made his senior team debut in 2010, equaled Pele’s goal tally during the 2022 FIFA World Cup and has now topped it in the first opportunity he got.

Neymar had a chance to break Pele’s record in the 17th minute via penalty kick, but Bolivia’s goalie Guillermo Viscarra saved his shot. The 31-year-old made amends in the second half, extending Brazil’s lead to 4-0 with a clinical finish in the penalty box. He then added another goal in similar fashion during the extra time.

“I never imagined reaching this record. I want to say that I am not a better player than Pele,” Neymar told reporters after the match. “I always wanted to make my own story, write my name in the history of Brazilian football and the national team. And today I did that.”

Neymar scored 79 goals for Brazil in 125 international matches. He still lacks a big trophy with the national team, only having a FIFA Confederations Cup win in 2013 on his resume.

Brazilian forward Neymar Jr is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal. This comes after sources confirmed that PSG accepted a €90 million ($98.6 million) bid for the 31-year-old player. This comes after reports on Sunday that Neymar had agreed to personal terms with the Saudi club.

Neymar is set to join Al Hilal on a two-year contract with an option for a third. Upon arriving at Al Hilal, Brazil’s joint all-time top scorer is set to join other new signings such as Kalidou Koulibaly, Rúben Neves, and Sergej Milinković-Savić, all of whom join from other elite European clubs.

Along with Al Ahli, Al Ittithad, and Al Nassr—the club that signed Cristiano Ronaldo at the start of the year—Al Hilal was bought by the Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund in June. This acquisition formed part of the country’s “Sports Clubs Investment and Privatization Project.”

Neymar became the world’s most expensive soccer player in 2017 when PSG signed him from Barcelona for a world record fee of €222 million.

Brazilian star forward Neymar is looking to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. According to reports from the French media, Neymar told PSG that he wants out and that he prefers a return to La Liga side Barcelona.

Neymar’s transfer request comes several weeks after French superstar Kylian Mbappe informed the club that he wouldn’t sign a new contract. Earlier this summer, Argentinean superstar Lionel Messi left Paris as a free agent and signed with MLS side Inter Miami.

PSG is reportedly willing to move on from Neymar and start fresh. However, it is unclear whether a deal with Barca can be struck, considering the Spanish club’s financial problems. Instead, they are focusing on talks with Premier League powerhouse Chelsea.

It is believed that Chelsea would be open to bringing in Neymar on an initial loan before making the move permanent. PSG, on the other hand, is insisting on a €60 million transfer fee. Multiple Saudi Arabia clubs have already informed Ligue 1 champions that they would pay this kind of fee, but it is unclear whether the player would be open to a move out of Europe.

Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona in 2017 after the French club activated his €222 million release clause. Since then, the Brazilian has played 173 games with the club, scoring 118 goals and adding 77 assists. He won five Ligue 1 titles with PSG during that time.

Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr. has been ruled out for the rest of the season after being scheduled to undergo surgery to repair some damaged ankle ligaments, PSG confirmed on Monday. The Brazilian is set to be out for three months, effectively meaning that his season has come to a premature end.

“Neymar Jr. has had several episodes of instability in his right ankle in recent years,” PSG announced in a statement. “Following his last sprain contracted on Feb. 20, the medical staff … recommended a ligament repair operation to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted have confirmed this necessity.”

The 31-year-old forward was injured during his team’s 4-3 victory over Lilli last month. According to PSG manager Christophe Galtier, Neymar’s absence would be a major loss, especially when considering the 13 goals and 11 assists that he has contributed in Ligue 1 this season. He is expected to undergo surgery in Doha, Qatar.

PSG is currently at the top of Ligue 1 with an eight-point lead over second-placed Marseille. The team is set to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash, which they currently trail 1-0.

Paris Saint-Germain’s big three of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar could soon be broken up. According to French influential media outlet Le Parisien, Chelsea’s owner Todd Boehly met with PSG’s president Nasser al Khelaifi to open talks about Neymar’s move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

While the move is not imminent, it is believed that al Khelaifi left an impression that PSG is ready to do business and let the Brazilian star attacker leave. Chelsea would be expected to pay a fee of around €60 million to facilitate the transfer.

Neymar is currently enjoying another productive season with the reigning Ligue 1 champions. In 28 games played across all competitions, the 31-year-old player scored 17 goals and added 16 assists. Still, he has been an odd man out in the PSG’s locker room, being criticized by the fans for his attitude and clashing with the front office and coaching staff on a regular basis.

Reportedly, Neymar was offered to Chelsea this past summer, but Boehly decided not to pull the trigger on the move. His team’s struggles in Premier League since then and possible discount have now made him more eager to act.

PSG brought in Neymar in 2017 from Barcelona in a transfer worth a world-record €222 million. Since then, Neymar has scored an impressive 117 goals and added 76 assists while 12 trophies, including four domestic league titles.

Neymar received a red card during Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 victory over Strasbourg in Ligue 1 on Wednesday night in what was his return to club football after representing Brazil at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

While he picked up his first yellow card during the 61st minute for a challenge on Strasbourg midfielder Adrien Thomasson in which his hand made contact with Thomasson’s face, Neymar was cautioned yet again one minute later, this time for diving. While the 30-year-old raced up to referee Clement Turpin to argue against the call, the referee stood by his decision to hand the Brazilian a second yellow card and thereby send him to the locker room early.

This is Neymar’s fifth red card since joining PSG for a world record transfer fee of €222 million in 2017. As a result, he will miss out on PSG’s next Ligue 1 match against second-placed Lens on Sunday.

Prior to his send off, Neymar provided the assist to center back Marquinhos to open the scoring during the first half of the action. While Marquinhos allowed Strasbourg back into the game with an own goal, Kylian Mbappe scored from the spot in the dying embers of the game to hand PSG the three points.

Brazil forward Neymar is set to make his return to the field in his team’s World Cup round of 16 clash with South Korea on Monday night. The player has been sidelined since injuring his ankle during Brazil’s opening group game against Serbia.

“If he practices OK, he will be playing tomorrow,” Brazil coach Tite said during a news conference, implying that Neymar’s form during Sunday’s training session will determine whether or not he is in a position to play against South Korea.

When asked if Neymar could be used as a substitute against South Korea should his injury persist, Tite commented that he prefers to use his best players from the start of the match, confirming that this is not an option that he is considering. He also stated that Neymar’s return to action would happen with the approval of the Brazilian medical team.

Danilo, who also injured his ankle in the 2-0 win over Serbia, may also make his return, Tite revealed. Neymar, Danilo, and Alex Sandro are all expected to train on Sunday to determine their match fitness.
