The New York Giants might face an unexpected challenge in their attempts to bounce back from a disappointing 2023 campaign. Their tight end, Darren Waller, is unsure about his future in the NFL and is considering retirement.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Waller said that he still hasn’t made a decision on whether he’ll play in 2024.

“I haven’t made a decision yet,” Waller shared. “It’s just a matter of respecting the process. There’s so much that goes into the process of going from April through February of an NFL season. The commitment that it requires. I’m a guy who’s evolving, who’s growing, who’s played a lot of football and been through a lot.”

Waller joined the Giants ahead of the 2023 season in a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders and was supposed to be one of the team’s main offensive weapons. However, a hamstring injury limited him to only 12 games, and he finished the campaign with 52 catches for 552 yards and one touchdown.

“I’m at the point now where I’m like, ‘OK, how much am I willing to give to the process,’” Waller added. “If it’s not 100%, it’s a disservice to the teammates and the organization that I have.”

Waller had his best season as a pro in 2020 when he led the league with 107 catches while racking up a career-best 1,196 yards and nine touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
