The New York Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll denied the reports about a strained relationship between him and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.

Speaking with reporters after a 10-7 win over the New England Patriots, Daboll praised Martindale and said that there is no problem between the two.

“I’d say the biggest argument that Wink and I have had is who has the last piece of pizza,” Daboll said. “I got a lot of respect for Wink. He’s done a good job. I’ll leave it at that.”

Daboll also presented Martindale with the game ball and credited him for doing a “fabulous” job limiting the Patriots’ offense.

Daboll’s comments came after Fox’s Jay Glazer reported that the relationship between the Giants’ head coach and Martindale became so bad that it could force the New York team to look for a new defensive coordinator next season. The two are believed to have opposing personalities, which are causing them to clash a lot and have different views on player-related things.

Wink Martindale joined Daboll’s coaching staff when the latter was hired as a Giants’ head coach in 2022. Martindale spent four years working as a defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens while also serving in the same role with the Broncos in 2010.
