Dallas Mavericks’ superstar Luka Doncic is the new member of the NBA’s 10,000 points club. Doncic reached the mark after scoring 50 points in a 128-114 win over the Phoenix Suns on Monday night.

Doncic needed just 358 games to reach 10K career points in the NBA, which is the seventh fastest in league history. The most recent player to do it in fewer games was legendary Michael Jordan.

While the highlight of the night was his scoring, Doncic impacted the Suns’ game in all sorts of other ways. He also dished 15 assists and grabbed six rebounds while adding four steals and three blocks.

“Always, when this kind [of] award comes with a win, it’s even more fun,” said Doncic after the game. “It was a tough road game, and we won. So, outside of the 10K and 50 points, we won the game. So, I’m really happy.”

Doncic has been on a tear so far in 2023-24, making a case for the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award. He is averaging a career-high 33.5 points and 9.4 assists while adding 8.5 rebounds and shooting a career-best 38.7 from behind the arc.

Thanks to Doncic’s impressive run, the Mavs are currently fifth in the Western Conference with an 18-12 record.

Luka Doncic has been cleared to play in the Dallas Mavericks’ game against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night despite being questionable due to suffering a thumb injury.

Doncic’s left thumb was injured during the first quarter of the Mavs’ 107-88 loss to the LA Clippers on Saturday night when he attempted to steal the ball from the Clippers’ James Harden during the first quarter, striking his thumb against Harden’s knee. Despite his injury, Doncic decided to play on in the game, scoring 30 points in 38 minutes.

At half-time, Doncic underwent X-rays, while an MRI on Monday revealed that he suffered a “low grade” sprain. Doncic’s inclusion in Tuesday night’s game is a welcome sight for the Mavericks, with the player averaging 30.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.8 assists in 16 games this season.

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic will be sidelined for his team’s road game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night. This comes after he picked up a left thigh strain.

The Mavericks’ point guard has been harboring a left thigh injury for several games, with the pain getting progressively worse over time. As a result, Doncic exited during the third quarter from the Mavericks’ 113-106 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.

Doncic underwent an MRI scan on Thursday, however, no damage on his thigh was revealed. Sources revealed to ESPN that Doncic is expected to be able to return to action once his discomfort subsides.

In addition to Doncic, Kyrie Irving has been listed as questionable as he continues to experience right foot soreness. “Hopefully, he’ll be able to join us in Memphis,” Dallas coach Jason Kidd told reporters when asked about the player’s fitness.

Currently, the Mavericks consider Doncic’s injury as being day-to-day, Kidd revealed.

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic picked up an ankle sprain during his team’s 99-95 win over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night. Doncic exited during the first quarter of the game after stepping on the foot of a Suns defender while pivoting on his left ankle.

Following the incident, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd decided to call a timeout with 8:39 left on the clock in the first quarter of play. Doncic was subsequently substituted and escorted to the locker room by Casey Smith, the Mavericks’  director of player health and performance. Dallas announced at the end of the first period that Doncic would not be returning to the game.

Doncic later underwent an X-ray, the result of which came up negative. According to Kidd, Doncic remained “in good spirits” after the game. “He looked good, he looked fine,” Kidd confirmed before cautioning, “But we’ll see how he feels as we go forward.”

The NBA’s leading scorer this season with 33.8 points per game, Doncic is also averaging a team-best 9.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game. Any potential absence of Doncic from the Mavs’ lineup would pose a major obstacle, with the Mavs going 0-5 in games without Doncic this season.

Guard Luka Doncic was unavailable to play in the Dallas Mavericks’ 144-115 loss to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Saturday night after incurring a right quadriceps strain.

Dallas struggled without the 23-year-old star in their ranks as the Bulls delivered their greatest offensive output of the season. DeMar DeRozan grabbed 28 points and nine rebounds, while Nikola Vucevic scored 20 points and racked up eight rebounds. The Bulls shot a season-high 63.5% in to grab their second straight victory.

Doncic initially felt quad pain during the Mavericks’ narrow 106-105 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night, during which he grabbed 33 points, 11 assists, and six rebounds. The Slovenian had to leave the court after 37 minutes as a result.

Joining Doncic on the sidelines is forward Maxi Kleber, who is struggling with right foot soreness, and guard Josh Green, who is recovering from a right elbow sprain. Both players appeared alongside Doncic in Friday’s loss before being ruled out of Saturday’s game.

At present, the Mavericks find themselves in 10th position on the Western Conference standings. They next face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night as they look to overturn a two-game losing streak.

No NBA team has ever made it back to win the series after trailing 0-3 in the playoffs. However, the Dallas Mavericks believe they can be the first one to do it after avoiding the sweep in the Western Conference Finals matchup against the Golden State Warriors.

The Mavs entered Tuesday’s Game 4 facing elimination but rose to the occasion and got the 119-109 win. It was mostly thanks to their superstar Luka Doncic, who finished the contest with 30 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Doncic said that his team believes they can turn things around despite facing a massive challenge.

“I mean, I still believe we can win, you know,” Doncic said. “Swept or not swept, in the end, if you lose, you lose. Don’t matter how many we win. We have to go game by game. We’re going to believe until the end.”

Getting another lease on life is nothing new for the Mavericks. They were written off after failing 0-2 to the favored Phoenix Suns in the second round, and no one gave them a chance to get back from 2-3 in the same series. However, Dallas proved everyone wrong both times, and you can’t blame them for thinking they can do it once again.

Although the comeback from 0-3 never happened, some teams did get close. In the 1951 NBA Finals, the New York Knicks evened the series 3-3 against the Rochester Royals (present-day Sacramento Kings), only to lose in Game 7. The same thing happened to the Denver Nuggets in 1994’s second round against the Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers against the Mavericks in the first round of the 2003 playoffs.

Not many people gave the Dallas Mavericks the benefit of the doubt in deciding Game 7 of their second-round series against the Phoenix Suns. But the Mavs not only beat the Suns to make the Western Conference Finals but also blew them out of their own arena with a 123-90 win on Sunday night.

Luka Doncic had another monster game, dropping 35 on Phoenix, including 27 in the first half alone. On the other hand, the Suns, as a team, only managed to get 27 points during that period.

Dallas saw some big contributions from Spencer Dinwiddie and Jalen Brunson as well. Dinwiddie had 30 points off the bench in just 25 minutes on the floor, while Brunson scored 24. Doncic, Brunson, and Dinwiddie combined for 89 points, while Phoenix managed just 90 for the entire game.

“I can’t remember the last time that somebody went to the away game and did this, so I’m really proud of what we did today,” said Doncic after the game in which the Suns trailed by as many as 46 at one point.

While the Mavs’ stars thrived under pressure, the Suns’ best players failed to get going. All-Stars Chris Paul and Devin Booker scored 10 and 11 points, respectively, while no other Phoenix starter got more than five points. This is probably the key reason why the Suns blew a 3-2 lead in the series and are back to the drawing board.

The Dallas Mavericks are now set to play the Golden State Warriors for a shot to make the NBA Finals for the first time since their championship run in 2010-11. This is also the first time that the Mavs managed to get out of the first round in the postseason since then.

The Dallas Mavericks’ phenom Luka Doncic didn’t disappoint in his NBA playoffs second-round debut. Facing the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of the 2022 Western Conference semis, Doncic scored 45 points while also adding 12 rebounds and eight assists. He also did that while being guarded by the NBA Defensive Player of the Year finalist Mikal Bridges.

Unfortunately for the Mavs and Doncic, his amazing performance wasn’t enough to overcome the No. 1 seeded Suns. Relying on team play and newly-recovered All-Star guard Devin Booker, Phoenix claimed a comfortable 121-114 win and took an important lead in the series.

Booker finished the game with 23 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, while DeAndre Ayton added 25 points and eight boards. All the remaining Suns’ starters were in double digits as well.

Dallas only had three other players besides Doncic to score more than eight points. Also, Doncic outscored the remainder of the Dallas’ starting lineup by six points. This disparity was noted by head coach Jason Kidd, who said after the game that other Mavs players need to step up as well.

“We’ve just got to get someone to join the party,” Kidd said.

The Mavs will have a chance to bounce back on Wednesday when the two teams are scheduled to face in Game 2 at the Footprint Center.

After an encouraging 2019/20 NBA season, Dallas Mavericks want to take another step and establish themselves as NBA title contenders. In order to do so, the Mavs are reportedly open to trading any player from their roster except stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis.

In a recently published piece on Dallas Morning News, Brad Townsend detailed Mavericks’ offseason plans and reported that the team’s No.1 goal is to acquire a third star to play alongside Doncic and Porzingis. In order to do so, Mavs are ready to talk about all of their players aside from the duo and would even consider taking bad contracts.

It is unclear which players Mavericks might target, but the chances are that good players in bad situations, like Washington Wizards’ Bradley Beal, are at the top of their list.

Townsend also reports that Dallas will look to strengthen the team in other ways. The first is free agency, where they are expected to pursue power forwards Danilo Gallinari and Jerami Grant. Mavs already attempted to trade for Gallinari before the February trade deadline, and there is a mutual interest. Grant, on the other hand, reportedly favors remaining with Denver Nuggets but might change his mind if he receives a big-enough offer.

Mavericks are also interested in landing a lottery draft pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. They have assets to do so, owning a No.18 and No.31 pick at the moment.

It appears that this will be one eventful offseason for Dallas Mavericks. If they managed to go through with their plans, expect the Western Conference road to NBA Finals goes through them in 2020/21.

Dallas Mavericks’ star guard Luka Doncic won’t miss his first All-Star game after all. Doncic, who missed the past couple of weeks due to ankle injury, confirmed that he will return to action in time to participate in All-Star weekend festivities.

Doncic shared the news with repoters on Tuesday after team practice.

“I’m ready,” said Doncic via ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “I’m just excited to be back out there and play basketball.”

According to Macmahon, Doncic will be on court even before the All-Star break, as he intends to play in the upcoming Mavs’ game against Sacramento Kings.

Luka Doncic has been crucial for Mavs this season, helping the team to insert themselves into playoff contention in a loaded Western Conference. Doncic also established himself as an MVP candidate, averaging 28.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game. However, his great run was troubled with ankle issues which caused him to miss 11 games this season.

Doncic, who is currently in his second NBA season, has been voted a starter in the All-Star game which will take place in Chicago. He will also play in the Rising Stars game for the World team.
