Luka Doncic has been cleared to play in the Dallas Mavericks’ game against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night despite being questionable due to suffering a thumb injury.
Doncic’s left thumb was injured during the first quarter of the Mavs’ 107-88 loss to the LA Clippers on Saturday night when he attempted to steal the ball from the Clippers’ James Harden during the first quarter, striking his thumb against Harden’s knee. Despite his injury, Doncic decided to play on in the game, scoring 30 points in 38 minutes.
At half-time, Doncic underwent X-rays, while an MRI on Monday revealed that he suffered a “low grade” sprain. Doncic’s inclusion in Tuesday night’s game is a welcome sight for the Mavericks, with the player averaging 30.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.8 assists in 16 games this season.
