The Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Kenny Pickett had surgery to address a high ankle sprain he sustained in Sunday’s 10-24 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The news was confirmed to reporters by the team’s head coach, Mike Tomlin, on Monday.

Pickett picked up the injury in the second quarter of the Cardinals game. According to Tomlin, the surgery will accelerate the 25-year-old’s recovery process, but he declined to provide details on the timetable for Pickett’s return to action.

“They’ll always come out of the O.R. with some information in that regard, but I’m just not privy to it as I sit here today,” Tomlin said at a press conference. “That’s why I framed it the way that I framed it. Rest assured, he won’t be available this week.”

The Los Angeles Rams have acquired offensive lineman Kevin Dotson in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team confirmed the move on Sunday via social media.

Besides Dotson heading to LA, the trade includes a pair of pick swaps. The Rams will send the Steelers their fourth-round selection in 2024 and fifth-rounder in 2025 while receiving a fifth-round pick in 2024 and 2025 sixth-round selection in return.

Kevin Dotson entered the NFL in 2020 as the Steelers’ fourth-round pick and played 39 games with the franchise in the past three seasons. This includes starting all 17 games during the 2022 campaign.

The reason why the Steelers moved on from the 26-year-old Louisiana product is likely because they have their offensive line all covered up thanks to several free-agent additions like Isaac Seumalo. Also, Dotson is earning $2.7 million in 2023 while also entering the final year of his rookie deal.

Jags offense was earning three and outs left and right and failed to score a single point in the first halftime for the second consecutive time this season. You have to how long will Jacksonville continue to have patience with Bortles and his “one good and three terrible games” style of playing.

The Bears Are a Work in Progress

It looks like we overestimated Chicago Bears a bit, at least when it comes to their reach for this season. While they became one of the most fun teams to watch under Matt Nagy, the Bears still need to learn how to close out games. After they managed to blew away 20 points lead in the season opener against Green Bay Packers, Bears allowed a game-tying 75-yards touchdown to Dolphins just three minutes before the end of regular time. Then they missed the game-winning field goal in overtime, which ultimately cost them the game. Bears will be a great team, just not this season.

The Steelers Are Back

Ok, we won’t doubt Pittsburgh Steelers anymore. After a dreadful start of the season, Steelers showed in Week 6 of 2018 NFL Season that they are still a Super Bowl contender. The Kansas City Chiefs and the LA Rams won their respective games on Sunday to extend their perfect start this season to 5 wins and 0 losses each.

The Chiefs scored 30 points past the Jacksonville Jaguars, one of the league’s best defenses at the Arrowhead Stadium. The Jaguars only managed 14 points and were cornered in almost three-quarters of the game. Jacksonville’s main quarterback Blake Bortles was intercepted four times leading to a touchdown at one point.

Chiefs Patrick Mahomes was outstanding during the game. While his touchdown pass got intercepted, he completed a score and performed superbly throughout the game. After the game, Mahomes expressed his confidence in the team.

“It shows what kind of team we are,” Mahome said. “I’m just excited to come out with a win on a day the defense made plays.”

Elsewhere, the LA Rams battled it out with the Seahawks to snatch a 33-31 victory with Todd Gurley scoring three touchdowns. This means that Bell can only negotiate a long-term contract with the Steelers, and if both parties fail to reach a deal, he will play under the franchise tag for 2018 NFL season, which will be worth $14.5 million. Steelers and the 26-year-old running back have until July 16 to reach a long-term contract deal.

“We’re not coming to a number we both agree on — they are too low, or I guess they feel I’m too high,” – said Bell to ESPN about contract negotiations. “I’m playing for strictly my value to the team. That’s what I’m asking. I don’t think I should settle for anything less than what I’m valued at.”

After the 2017 season ended, Bell said he doesn’t want to be tagged again, and will consider early retirement or sit out the season if he ends up having to play under a franchise tag again. According to the reports, Pittsburg Steelers have increased their offer to Bell compared to the last year. He also had a two-year deal, worth $30 million from the organization which he also refused.
