The Philadelphia 76ers might have their star center Joel Embiid back on the floor this week. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Embiid is close to returning to action and could play as soon as Tuesday when the 76ers face the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Embiid has been out since suffering a meniscus injury in late January and having to undergo knee surgery.

The 76ers will be thrilled to see Embiid ready to play, considering they have been on a downward spiral since he went down. Philly went 11-18 in Embiid’s absence and has fallen out of the top six in the Eastern Conference standings. They are currently eighth with a 40-35 record.

Embiid has previously stated that he wants to return before the regular season wraps regardless of where the 76ers are on the standings. This seems to be a better route, as he’ll be able to shake off the rust and get in game shape before the postseason.

Before the injury, Embiid was putting together a historic season. In 34 games, he averaged 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in 34.0 minutes on the floor. This made Embiid the only player since Wilt Chamberlain to average at least a point per minute spent on the floor.

Veteran point guard Kyle Lowry has reportedly agreed to a contract buyout with the Charlotte Hornets. Upon clearing waivers, Lowry intends to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Lowry landed in Charlotte as part of the trade that sent Terry Rozier to the Miami Heat. The 37-year-old player had $10.6 million left on his contract, which was set to expire after the 2023-24 NBA season.

Lowry, who has six All-Star selections to his name, averaged 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.1 steals in 37 games with the Heat this season. He hasn’t suited up for the Hornets since being traded to the franchise on January 23.

The 76ers get an experienced guard in Lowry who can lead their bench unit and provide them with playmaking behind All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey. The move also reunites Lowry with head coach Nick Nurse, with whom he won an NBA title as part of the Toronto Raptors organization.

Lowry is a Philadelphia native who played high school basketball at Cardinal Dougherty and spent his college years with Villanova. He now finally gets an opportunity to play for his hometown team and perhaps help the 76ers make a deep playoff run.

The 76ers have been in free fall of sorts recently, losing eight out of their last 10 games. They will likely have to finish the regular season without star center Joel Embiid, who underwent meniscus surgery last week, but there is a strong possibility that the reigning NBA MVP will return for the playoffs.

The Philadelphia 76ers remain optimistic that their star center, Joel Embiid, can return to action this season. Embiid is currently out after undergoing surgery last week to address a meniscus tear in his left knee.

Speaking with reporters on Friday, 76ers’ president of basketball operations Daryl Morey said that Embiid’s rehab is going well and that the organization is “hopeful” his 2023-24 campaign isn’t over.

“We’re hopeful. Feedback has been more good than bad since first we heard about what led to his procedure. So we’re hopeful, and we’re building the team to make it better this year,” said Morey. “Obviously, it’s not at 100%. But we felt like with Joel playing at an MVP level, where hopefully he could get back to that this is a year that we have a real shot.”

The 76ers previously announced that Embiid is set to be reevaluated in four weeks and that more information about his timetable would be shared after that.

Joel Embiid was in the midst of his best campaign as a pro before the injury. He averaged a league-leading 35.3 points alongside 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.8 blocks.

It remains to be seen whether Embiid can return before it’s too late for the 76ers. Without their best player, Philly has fallen off a cliff, losing four straight and going 2-8 in their last 10 games. They are currently sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 30-21 record.

The Philadelphia 76ers’ star center Joel Embiid has been diagnosed with a meniscus injury. According to the team’s announcement, the timetable for Embiid’s return to action is yet to be determined.

Embiid dealt with a lingering left knee soreness issue, which caused him to miss back-to-back games against the Denver Nuggets and the Portland Trail Blazers. The reigning NBA MVP returned for Wednesday’s game against the Golden State Warriors, but was forced to leave the contest early after Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga fell on his ailing knee during a chase for a loose ball.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Embiid and the 76ers are yet to determine which approach they’ll take with his recovery.

Embiid’s injury will be a big blow for the 76ers, considering they are in the midst of a crowded battle to secure a home advantage for the playoffs. Philly is currently sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 30-17 record. They find themselves 6.0 games behind the leading Boston Celtics but just 1.5 games behind the Milwaukee Bucks at the second position.

The injury could possibly mean the end of Joel Embiid’s campaign to repeat as the NBA MVP. Embiid was considered the favorite to win the award in 2023-24, averaging a league-leading 35.3 points to go with 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.8 blocks.

However, under the new CBA, the player must play at least 65 games in a season to be eligible for awards and All-NBA teams. Embiid already missed 13 games, meaning he can only miss four more to retain his eligibility.

The Philadelphia 76ers will be without star player Joel Embiid as they take on the Miami Heat in their Christmas Day game at the Kaseya Center. Embiid has been sidelined after suffering a sprained right ankle during Friday night’s win over the Toronto Raptors.

Embiid landed awkwardly while trying to block a shot midway through the first quarter. Despite the setback, Embiid was able to continue playing, scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds to extend his 30-10 streak to 13th consecutive games, with only Hall of Famers Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Elgin Baylor surpassing this total.

The 76ers will be hoping for Embiid’s quick recovery, particularly given what has been arguably the best season of his career. Currently, Embiid leads the NBA’s scoring charts, averaging 35 points per game. He is also averaging a career-high six assists per game.

The Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid scored 31 points and made 10 rebounds during the 76ers’ 121-111 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Friday night, thereby extending his 30-10 streak to 13 games. While he landed awkwardly trying to block a shot with 5:25 left in the first quarter, he was able to recover, scoring all of his points of the game afterward.

Embii’s 30-10 streak is the longest since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 16-game streak in the 1971-72 season. The only other players in NBA history to achieve a 13-game streak are Wilt Chamberlain, who made this streak on multiple occasions, and Elgin Baylor, with a 15-game streak in 1961-62.

The center has achieved an array of impressive stats during his illustrious eight seasons in Philadelphia. In addition to becoming the first player to 850 points, 250 rebounds, and 150 assists in his first 25 games, Embiid has become the first player since Michael Jordan to score 30-plus points in 20 of his first 25 games.

The Philadelphia 76ers point guard scored a career-high 50 points to lift his team to a 137-126 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night. In addition, Maxey managed to provide 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks.

“This had nothing to do with me,” Maxey said of the Sixers’ victory after the game. “This is all Kelly Oubre. We’re praying for him. Love my dawg. I just met him, but I love him. I hope he gets well soon.” Maxey dedicated his performance to Oubre, who suffered a fractured rib after being hit by a car on Saturday night.

Joel Embiid also emerged as a key player in the Sixers’ win, scoring 37 points. With this win, Philadelphia takes their record to 8-1, putting them firmly in first place on the Eastern Conference standings. The 76ers and the Pacers are set to rematch on Tuesday night.

The Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden remains sidelined after missing his team’s final preseason game on Friday, sources revealed on Monday. It has consequently become increasingly unclear if he will be available to play for Philadelphia as they face the Milwaukee Bucks in their opening game of the new NBA season on Thursday night.

Harden did not show up for team practice on Wednesday and Thursday before being ruled out of Friday’s 120-106 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. According to the 76ers, Harden was away from the team due to dealing with a personal matter.

Since picking up his $35.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season, Harden has been seeking a trade away from the 76ers. He continues to be frustrated due to his request to be traded to the LA Clippers still being unfulfilled.

The Philadelphia 76ers’ star guard James Harden still hasn’t changed his mind about wanting to be traded. But it turns out it wasn’t that long ago when Harden intended to spend the rest of his career with the franchise.

Speaking with reporters on Friday, Harden said that his intention was to retire as a member of the 76ers when he was traded to Philly from the Brooklyn Nets midway through the 2021-22 season.

“When I got traded here, my whole thing was I wanted to retire a Sixer. I wanted to be here and retire a Sixer,” Harden said.

But according to the 34-year-old player, the 76ers’ had other plans that caused him to rethink his stance.

“The front office didn’t have that in their future plan. It’s literally out of my control. It’s something I didn’t want to happen to be in this position,” he added.

After not being offered a new contract by the 76ers at the start of the offseason, Harden picked up his player option for the 2023-24 season and issued a trade request. He later publicly revealed that he blames Philly’s president of basketball operations, Daryl Morrey, for the entire situation and even called him a “liar” during one media appearance.

Despite all the controversy, Harden decided to take part in the 76ers’ training camp but doesn’t see his relationship with the franchise repairing.

“It’s not just about this situation, but in life, when you lose trust in someone … it’s like a marriage, when you lose trust in someone, it’s pretty simple,” Harden told reporters when asked about the possibility of reconciling with the 76ers’ front office.

Harden reportedly wants to be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, but that doesn’t seem a viable option at the moment. The 76ers are seeking a substantial return if they were to trade Harden, but the Clippers, being the only interested team, are not willing to give up much for the former NBA MVP.

The Philadelphia 76ers made it clear that they don’t have any intention of trading their star guard James Harden. But that isn’t stopping Harden from hoping he’ll get his wish and land with the LA Clippers this season.

After failing to get an extension with the 76ers early in the offseason, Harden picked up a player option of $35.6 million for 2023-24 and requested a trade. Philly had talks with multiple teams but failed to find an offer they liked and told the player they expected him to report for training camp.

In a recent piece published on Yahoo Sports, NBA reporter Jake Fischer wrote that Harden hasn’t been discouraged by recent developments. The 34-year-old still believes he’ll get his way and has the Clippers as his preferred destination.

Reportedly, Harden prefers the Clippers because he likes the city of Los Angeles and thinks he would have a better chance of winning an NBA title there. Also, he believes that the franchise would be ready to give him a big contract extension next offseason.

Harden’s situation will be much clearer once the training camp opens. The former NBA MVP isn’t a stranger to causing some drama in order to push for a trade, having done so during his previous stops.

Harden averaged 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists per game with the 76ers last season.

I hope he gets well soon.” Maxey dedicated his performance to Oubre, who suffered a fractured rib after being hit by a car on Saturday night.
