According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, James, Curry, and Durant will be joined by Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Devin Booker (Suns), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Jrue Holiday (Celtics), Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat) and Anthony Davis (Lakers). Team USA is looking for redemption after a disappointing run at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, which saw them missing out on a medal with a third-place game loss to Canada. Out of players who were on the World Cup team, only Haliburton and Edwards will return for the Paris Olympics.

Curry will play at his first-ever Olympic games. He was close to playing at the 2016 Games in Rio but ended up withdrawing due to injuries. On the other hand, James returns to the Olympics for the first time since 2012, when he led Team USA to the gold medal.

Durant is the most accomplished Olympian on the team, having played in the last three Olympics and won gold each time.

Barkley was making an appearance on TruTV’s alternative broadcast of the All-Star game this past weekend and decided to share his opinion on Durant and his leadership skills.

“No disrespect to Kevin. Kevin’s a follower. He’s not a leader. He’s proven that on all his stops,” Barkley said.

Barkley’s comments have become a hot topic in the NBA in recent days, prompting Durant to address them during an interview with his media platform, Boardroom.

“I don’t feel like I want people to call me a leader, but I also don’t want people to say I’m not one either because they don’t see what goes on behind the scenes of what I talk about or my intentions or relationships that I’ve built with my teammates and my support staff,” Durant said.

Later in the interview, Durant also shared why those like Barkley may view him differently.

Durant entered the Nuggets game as the 11th on the all-time scoring list in points but just 16 points behind Hall of Famer Moses Malone on No. 10. The 35-year-old made up the difference in the second quarter, scoring 17 points to get his NBA total to 27,410 compared to Malone’s 27,409.

Durant finished the game with 30 points to improve to 27,423 career points in the NBA. He needs 867 points to move to the No.9 spot, currently held by Carmelo Anthony.

“It’s a long journey to be up there, mentioned with the greats,” Durant said after the game. “It takes a lot of work, a lot of preparation, a lot of people helping me get to this point.” 

Kevin Durant has been considered one of the best scorers in the game, winning the NBA scoring title four times. He averaged more than 25 points per game in all but one season as a pro and averaged more than 30 points twice.
