Kevin Durant’s debut for the Phoenix Suns has been delayed as he entered the final stages of his injury return with a knee issue. The Suns are set to face the Oklahoma City Thunder in a home game on Friday night.

Durant took part in the entirety of the Suns’ two-hour workout and scrimmage following the All-Star break, however, the team did not want to risk him during the game against the Thunder while he still harbors an injury. Currently, the Suns consider him to be day-to-day. That being said, Sunday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks remains a possibility.

Although absent through injury, praise has been rolling in for Durant from his new teammates after he participated in a 5-on-5 workout.

“When guys watch him work, I think it’s something that inspires people to get after it in their own workouts,” coach Monty Williams observed. “Because they’re not going to find anybody that goes as hard as Kevin. When he’s doing his individual stuff it’s amazing to watch.”

Williams noted that the workout that Durant participated in was the longest and most intense since the training camp during the summer.
