The Jacksonville Jaguars are planning to play quarterback Trevor Lawrence in Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, sources confirmed late Saturday. Still, the quarterback will need to be evaluated during pregame warmups in order to confirm his eligibility.

Lawrence incurred a high ankle sprain six days ago during the Jags’ 31-34 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.  Jaguars coach Doug Pederson provided an update on Lawrence’s status on Friday, stating that the quarterback was “feeling good” and had “moved around a little bit” at Thursday’s practice session.

While this injury usually sidelines players for weeks, Lawrence will hope to continue his streak of never missing a game due to injury throughout his high school, college, and NFL career.

While Lawrence remains officially listed as questionable for the Browns game, backup quarterback C.J. Beathard is prepared to start should the first-choice quarterback show any signs of ineligibility during the pre-game warmups.

The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is set to undergo additional testing to determine the extent of the right ankle injury he suffered during Monday night’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Lawrence was injured during the fourth quarter when left tackle Walker Little was pushed back and he stepped on Lawrence’s ankle. After initially trying to get back up, the quarterback fell back to his knees.

Lawrence was subsequently assisted off the field by the Jags’ medical team and taken to the team’s locker room and X-ray area. Jags coach Doug Pederson was unable to provide an update on Lawrence’s status after the game, with the player requiring additional testing in order to determine the severity of his injury.

Backup quarterback C.J. Beathard is ready to fill in for Lawrence should he be unavailable. “We’ll see where Trevor’s at first, but we’ve got 100% confidence in C.J,” Pederson declared. “He’s a veteran player. The Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley applied on Wednesday to the NFL to be reinstated, a league source revealed. Wednesday was Ridley’s first day in which he would become eligible to apply for reinstatement after he was indefinitely suspended from the league for gambling.

Having arrived at the Jaguars on November 1, Ridley’s last NFL appearance was on October 24, 2021, when he was still an Atlanta Falcons player. At that time, he decided to step away from football to focus on his mental health.

On March 7, 2022, Ridley was suspended after an investigation found that he had placed bets on NFL games over a five-day stretch. Following the announcement, Ridley posted a series of Tweets in which he admitted that his bets totaled $1,500. He insisted, however, that he did not have a gambling problem.

Ridley, now 28 years old, made 248 catches for 3,342 yards and 28 touchdowns in 49 games during his career with the Falcons. He hit his peak in 2020 when he made 90 catches 1,374 yards and nine touchdowns. If he is able to replicate this form, the Jaguars could become one of the best offenses in the league.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have once again refused to give up. After facing a 27-0 deficit in the wild-card game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night, the Jags rallied to an improbable comeback and a 30-31 win that will see them go through to the divisional round.

The game started ugly for the Jaguars as their quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw an interception on the second play of the game. The Chargers used a great field position to score a touchdown, with running back Austin Ekeler punching the ball after a 13-yard run.

Lawrence continued to gift the Chargers the ball, throwing three more picks midway through the second quarter. The LA team converted two of them to points, which helped them to build a 27-0 lead. The Jags managed to score what seemed a futile touchdown at the time to end the half. But it wasn’t.

The second half saw a different Jacksonville team, one that takes care of the ball and plays hard on the defense. Lawrence toned down his recklessness and started carving the Chargers’ defense with timely passes. The running game also picked up steam, and the Chargers quickly found themselves with their back against the wall.

After scoring a touchdown with a successful two-point conversion midway through the fourth quarter, which cut the deficit to 30-28, Jacksonville managed to stop Justin Herbert and co. to give themselves a chance to take it all. What followed was a 10-play, 68-yard game-winning drive that saw Riley Patterson drill a 36-yard field goal as the clock ran out.

After overcoming the third-biggest deficit in NFL Playoffs history, the Jaguars are now set to face the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round. They will be heavy underdogs, but we definitely wouldn’t write them off after what we just saw.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have lost patience with their head coach Urban Meyer earlier than anyone could expect. The Jags announced late on Wednesday that Meyer has been relieved of his duties, bringing his tenure with the franchise to an end after just 13 games.

The announcement was followed by a public statement from Jaguars’ owner Shad Khan, who said he made the decision after “deliberation over many weeks and a thorough analysis of the entirety of Urban’s tenure with our team.”

“I informed Urban of the change this evening. As I stated in October, regaining our trust and respect was essential. Regrettably, it did not happen,” Khan added. “In the spirit of closure and recharging our players, staff, and fan base, I will not comment further until some point following the conclusion of the NFL season.”

According to Khan, Trent Baalke will continue to serve in the role of general manager. The Jaguars will wrap up the remainder of the 2021 NFL season, with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell serving as an interim head coach.

While Urban Meyer’s exit seems sudden, the truth is that the move was largely expected around the league. Meyer took over the head coaching duties with the task of changing the franchise’s culture and getting the best out of rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence. But it is safe to say he did neither.

Meyer’s time as the Jags’ head coach will be remembered for various off-the-field issues that included inappropriate behavior, poor relationship with the players, and publicly calling out his coaching staff. It wasn’t better on the field either, as the Jaguars struggled to perform and have a 2-11 record at the moment.

Being the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars was the first experience in the NFL for Meyer. He previously worked at college, where he won two national championships with Florida Gators and one with Ohio State.

The Matthew Wright era in Jacksonville has officially begun. The Jaguars announced on Tuesday that they’re releasing veteran kicker Josh Lambo, clearing the path for Wright to become an undisputed starter moving forward.

Lambo struggled in 2021, missing all of his three field-goal attempts in two first games of the season. He also failed to convert two extra-point attempts in Week 3, prompting the Jags to turn to Wright.

While Wright had a shaky start, missing a field goal and an extra point in his first two games, he became a hero for the Jags on Sunday when he made a game-winning 53-yarder against the Miami Dolphins. The win was first for the Jags in 2021 and ended the 20-game losing streak the team has been on since early 2020.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, the Jags’ head coach Urban Meyer said Wright now has the job as starting kicker while also hinting at Lambo’s exit.

“We are actually going to meet on, today, roster, whatever movements we have. But obviously, Matt’s earned the right to be the starting kicker right now,” Meyer said when asked about the Jags’ plans for the placekicker position.

Josh Lambo, who has a Second-Team All-Pro selection from 2019, leaves Jacksonville as the most accurate kicker in franchise history. Lambo converted 91.6 percent of his field-goal attempts in Jags’ uniform, well ahead of Josh Scobee, who has an 80.1 percent conversion on the second spot.

The Jacksonville Jaguars extended their losing streak to 19 games after getting beat by the Cincinnati Bengals in a Thursday Night Football clash. The Bengals snatched a 24-21 win thanks to  Evan McPherson’s late 35-yard field goal.

The Jags were the better team in the first half, scoring two touchdowns while shutting down the Bengals’ offense. Jacksonville got a chance to make it 21-0 late in the second quarter but ended up failing to convert 4th&Goal on Cincinnati’s 1-yard line.

The Bengals bounced back in the second half and made the score even in their first two possessions. The Jags’ running back James Robinson then scored his second touchdown of the night to give his team the lead once again.

Cincinnati’s offense immediately responded with a touchdown of their own before the defense came through once again and stopped Jacksonville’s drive.

The Bengals got the ball at their own 10-yard line after the Jags’ punted and managed to go 73 yards down the field in order to set up an easy FG attempt for McPherson with four seconds left on the clock. The spotlight wasn’t too bright for the rookie kicker, who was good on the kick and gave his team the third win of the season.

Cincinnati was led by second-year quarterback Joe Burrow, who threw for 348 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Joe Mixon added one rushing touchdown while running for 67 yards.

Rookie QB Trevor Lawrence had a solid game for the Jags, completing 17 out of 24 passes attempted for 204 yards. On top of his two TD runs, Robinson rushed for a total of 78 yards.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Urban Meyer chose Trevor Lawrence, the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, as the team’s starting quarterback for the 2021 NFL season. Lawrence edged out last year’s starter Gardner Minshew to get the job.

The news, which was confirmed on Jags’ social media, comes days after Meyer said that he is still undecided about who will start in Week 1 against Houston Texans. At the time, Meyer insisted that the competition between Lawrence and Minshew is ongoing and that the job is there for the taking.

Still, it was always unlikely that Meyer will opt for anyone else besides Lawrence, especially as the gap between him and Minshew was clear to everyone during the preseason games.

Lawrence had some ups and downs during his preseason action. The Clemson product completed 20 passes out of 32 attempts in two games while throwing for 184 yards. He failed to score any touchdowns, but it is worth saying that the Jags offense wasn’t at its best overall.

Minshew, on the other hand, was 17-for-29 for 196 yards and two interceptions.

Third-string QB C.J. Beathard had the best preseason out of all signal-callers on the Jags’ roster, throwing three touchdown passes while completing 22 of 30 passes for 223 yards and zero interceptions.

“It was good. We talked about our QB room,” said Lawrence when asked how he feels about being the team’s starting QB. “We have a great group, so I’m really excited for the opportunity.”

Jacksonville Jaguars will want to forget the Thursday Night Football’s game against Miami Dolphins as soon as possible. Not only did the Jags suffer a 13-31 loss, but they also lost multiple starters in the process.

Jags immediately got to an unlucky start, as linebacker Leon Jacobs went down early in the first quarter. Jacobs injured his right knee during a run by Dolphins’ Myles Gaskin and had to be carted off the field. Reports say that he might have ruptured his patellar tendon. If this ends up being true, the 24-year-old Jacobs could be lost for the season.

This would be devastating news for Leon Jacobs, especially considering the fact that many predicted him a strong season this year. He showed promise in 2019, finishing the season with 42 tackles and 2.0 sacks.

Aside from Jacobs, Jacksonville also saw starting free safety Andrew Wingard and kicker Brandon White getting injured. Wingard had to leave the game in the second quarter due to core muscle injury while White experienced groin issues in the final period of the game.

After being more than two years out of the NFL, former New York Giants’ head coach Ben McAdoo returned to the league. Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Wednesday that McAdoo joined their organization as a quarterbacks coach.

McAdoo was a candidate for a number of jobs since being fired by the Giants, including the offensive coordinator position with Arizona Cardinals after the team hired Kliff Kingsbury as their new head coach. This offseason he also interviewed with Cleveland Browns for an unspecified position on Kevin Stefanski’s staff.

This will be McAdoo’s second stint as a QB coach, as he previously served on the same position with Green Bay Packers in 2011 and 2012.

“Coach McAdoo brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the quarterback room, and we’re excited to add him to our offensive coaching staff,” said Jags’ head coach Doug Marrone via team’s official website. “He has mentored several great quarterbacks throughout his career, and his understanding of the position will be a valuable addition to our team and for the development of that group.”

Ben McAdoo has built a reputation of an offensive guru during his time as an OC of the New York Giants. Due to his success in transforming the team’s offense, he was selected as Tom Coughlin’s successor in 2016. However, McAdoo failed to meet the expectations of the organization during his time as a head coach and was fired after posting 13-15 record in two seasons.

McAdoo is expected to face a tough job in Jacksonville, especially since the team’s QB situation seems unresolved. The nominal starter is Nick Foles, who was viewed as a marquee free-agent signing last offseason, but struggled with injuries and production in 2019. The Jags also have second-year QB Gardner Minshew, who showed promise while stepping in for Foles and might have his eyes on the starting job as well.
