The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is set to undergo additional testing to determine the extent of the right ankle injury he suffered during Monday night’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Lawrence was injured during the fourth quarter when left tackle Walker Little was pushed back and he stepped on Lawrence’s ankle. After initially trying to get back up, the quarterback fell back to his knees.

Lawrence was subsequently assisted off the field by the Jags’ medical team and taken to the team’s locker room and X-ray area. Jags coach Doug Pederson was unable to provide an update on Lawrence’s status after the game, with the player requiring additional testing in order to determine the severity of his injury.

Backup quarterback C.J. Beathard is ready to fill in for Lawrence should he be unavailable. “We’ll see where Trevor’s at first, but we’ve got 100% confidence in C.J,” Pederson declared. “He’s a veteran player. He’s played a lot of football, and if he happens to be the guy, then we’ll get behind him and support him.”
