Former Chelsea star Frank Lampard might continue his managerial journey in MLS. According to a recent report by The Athletic’s Tom Bogert, Lampard is currently the favorite to become the new head coach of Charlotte FC.

Charlotte FC is looking for a new head coach after firing Christian Lattanzio following the end of the 2023 MLS campaign. Lattanzio was fired despite leading the club to MLS Cup playoffs for the first time.

According to Bogert, Charlotte FC is currently wrapping up the interview process with Lattanzio’s potential successors. The MLS side is aiming to make the hire by the end of the year. Aside from Lampard, former Aston Villa manager Dean Smith is also believed to have a strong candidacy.

Frank Lampard started his managerial career with Championship side Derby County ahead of the 2018-19 season. Lampard led County to playoff finals for the Premier League in his first season in charge, but they ended up losing to Aston Villa. Still, this was enough for his former club, Chelsea, to hire him as a replacement for Maurizio Sarri.

Lampard lasted less than two seasons with Chelsea, being fired midway through the 2020-21 campaign due to bad results. He later had a one-year stint with Everton before briefly returning to Chelsea as a caretaker to see out the 2022-23 season.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that he has no issue with club owner Todd Boehly visiting the dressing room and engaging with the players on the training ground. Boehly spoke with the squad after their 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge to Brighton on Saturday, telling them that their season thus far has been “embarrassing”.

Aside from this encounter, Boehly often engages with players after matches and also visits the team at the Cobham training base. He made sure to do so ahead of the team’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second-leg clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

When questioned about whether or not he approves of Boehly’s involvement with his team, Lampard confirmed that he supports the Chelsea co-owner’s actions.

“For me, there was maybe some criticism of our old owner [Abramovich] of not coming to the games and not being around. That wasn’t always true, to be fair,” Lampard elaborated. “But I think when an owner is very invested in their interest in the team and want to help and improve, it is their prerogative to have the input that they want. I remember the moments as a player of owners first coming into dressing rooms — it actually happened here at Chelsea, it never really happened to me before.”

Chelsea has engaged in talks with former player and manager Frank Lampard in an effort to bring him back to Stamford Bridge in an interim head coach role. The 44-year-old Lampard would return to Chelsea until the end of the season, at which point the Blues will hope to secure the services of a new permanent head coach to replace Graham Potter, who has dismissed on Sunday.

After less than seven months in charge, Potter was sacked as the Blues sunk to 11th position in the Premier League table. Now, sources have confirmed that Chelsea has been considering between five and seven candidates to assume the role of manager next season.

The club has already established contact with Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern Munich at the end of last month, as well as Luis Enrique, the former Barcelona manager who left his role as Spain coach after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Lampard managed Chelsea for 18 months prior to the appointment of Thomas Tuchel. He then went on to coach Everton, helping them to avoid relegation last season before being sacked in January.

Premier League club Everton has decided to part ways with manager Frank Lampard, sources close to the matter revealed on Monday. This decision comes as the team looks to dig its way out of the relegation battle.

Under Lampard’s leadership, the Toffees lost nine of their last 12 games, leaving them in 19th position on the league table. The club has reportedly already begun the process of searching for a replacement.

Currently, the club is considering former Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo, who currently coached Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, as well as former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa. Former Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is also up for consideration.

Lampard has struggled in his role at Everton since being appointed manager on January 31 of last year. Despite struggling to find form, Lampard was able to help Everton avoid relegation in the final weeks of last season.

The last two weeks have seen Everton lose to two fellow relegation candidates. Everton lost 1-2 at home to Southampton last week before losing 2-0 away at West Ham United on Saturday.

Frank Lampard was appointed as Chelsea’s head coach in July 2019 as a club legend who returned to his home as a player to take over the reins and try to right the ship after the dismissal of Maurizio Sarri.

Despite a fourth-place finish last season and the team qualifiying for the knockout rounds of the Champions League this season, Chelsea decided to let Lampard go after a bad start to the Premier League campaign.

The final straw for Lampard at Chelsea was a 2-0 midweek loss to Leicester City which saw the Blues fail to win in yet another matchup against direct competition.

Chelsea currently sits in 9th place in England’s domestic league, eleven points off of current leaders Manchester United. Even worse for the Blues is that they find themselves on the outside looking in at European qualification spots, 3 points off of Europa League qualification, and 5 points off of Champions League qualification.

Lampard’s team was seen as needing a breath of fresh air in the form of a new coach, and for the Englishman, that meant the end of his tenure at his beloved club.

Expect Chelsea to announce a new manager within the next couple of days.

USMNT star winger Christian Pulisic isn’t enjoying the best start of his stint with Premier League powerhouse Chelsea. Pulisic hasn’t been playing much since arriving to London and was an unused substitute in the previous three games. However, things might change soon according to the club’s manager Frank Lampard.

Following the 2-1 loss to Liverpool over the weekend, Lampard was asked whether his choice not to feature Pulisic was due to injuries Chelsea suffered during the game or something else.

“He wasn’t a victim of the injuries. I’ve got a squad to pick from. Before that, he had played a few games,” – Lampard explained. “Willian has come back in and been sharp and looked good. I decided to go with Mason [Mount], because we needed to stay strong in midfield and play Mason high up the pitch. That is my choice to make.”

But Lampard then assured everyone that Pulisic will get an opportunity to show what he’s capable of.

“He will get ample opportunities.” – he added. “He is a young player as well as everyone is talking about Mason and Tammy and Fikayo. He is actually as young, if not younger, than some of them. His chances will come.”

Christian Pulisic joined Chelsea this summer, but the transfer was agreed back in January when Maurizio Sarri was still the club’s manager.  While Pulisic was expected to play a prominent role on the team, Lampard obviously hasn’t been impressed with the American star as Sarri.

Pulisic played four games in Premier League so far and managed to provide one assist.
