Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that he has no issue with club owner Todd Boehly visiting the dressing room and engaging with the players on the training ground. Boehly spoke with the squad after their 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge to Brighton on Saturday, telling them that their season thus far has been “embarrassing”.

Aside from this encounter, Boehly often engages with players after matches and also visits the team at the Cobham training base. He made sure to do so ahead of the team’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second-leg clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

When questioned about whether or not he approves of Boehly’s involvement with his team, Lampard confirmed that he supports the Chelsea co-owner’s actions.

“For me, there was maybe some criticism of our old owner [Abramovich] of not coming to the games and not being around. That wasn’t always true, to be fair,” Lampard elaborated. “But I think when an owner is very invested in their interest in the team and want to help and improve, it is their prerogative to have the input that they want. I remember the moments as a player of owners first coming into dressing rooms — it actually happened here at Chelsea, it never really happened to me before.”
