USMNT star winger Christian Pulisic isn’t enjoying the best start of his stint with Premier League powerhouse Chelsea. Pulisic hasn’t been playing much since arriving to London and was an unused substitute in the previous three games. However, things might change soon according to the club’s manager Frank Lampard.

Following the 2-1 loss to Liverpool over the weekend, Lampard was asked whether his choice not to feature Pulisic was due to injuries Chelsea suffered during the game or something else.

“He wasn’t a victim of the injuries. I’ve got a squad to pick from. Before that, he had played a few games,” – Lampard explained. “Willian has come back in and been sharp and looked good. I decided to go with Mason [Mount], because we needed to stay strong in midfield and play Mason high up the pitch. That is my choice to make.”

But Lampard then assured everyone that Pulisic will get an opportunity to show what he’s capable of.

“He will get ample opportunities.” – he added. “He is a young player as well as everyone is talking about Mason and Tammy and Fikayo. He is actually as young, if not younger, than some of them. His chances will come.”

Christian Pulisic joined Chelsea this summer, but the transfer was agreed back in January when Maurizio Sarri was still the club’s manager.  While Pulisic was expected to play a prominent role on the team, Lampard obviously hasn’t been impressed with the American star as Sarri.

Pulisic played four games in Premier League so far and managed to provide one assist.
