Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are making one last attempt to keep Canada international wing back Alphonso Davies. According to club’s sporting director Max Eberl, Bayern offered Davies an improved new deal and are now waiting for his response.

If Davies ends up refusing the offer, Bayern will look to sell the player in the summer in order to avoid losing him for free. Davies is currently under contract with the German club until the summer of 2025.

“I can say we made Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer,” Eberl told German media outlet Sport Bild. “At some point in life you have to say yes or no.”

It was previously reported that La Liga giants Real Madrid are already in agreement about signing Davies whenever he becomes available. Madrid will make an attempt to sign Davies this summer, but if Bayern’s asking price becomes too steep, they are ready to wait for another season before getting their man.

Alphonso Davies started his professional career with Vancouver Whitecaps and made his MLS debut as a 15-year-old in 2016. Davies would go on to play three seasons for Vancouver, earning an MLS All-Star nod in 2018, before securing a transfer to Bayern.

In Germany, Davies established himself as one of the best wing-backs in soccer. He made 184 appearances for Bayern in all competitions, scoring nine goals and adding 28 assists while helping the club win five Bundesliga titles and one UEFA Champions League trophy.

Real Madrid is reportedly looking to bolster their defense with Canada’s star wing-back Alphonso Davies. According to Spanish media, the La Liga powerhouse is exploring a move for Davies after his future with Bayern Munich became uncertain.

Davies is under contract with Bayern until the summer of 2025. The two sides have been negotiating a new deal for a while now, but a recent shakeup in Bayern’s administration has caused the talks to come to a halt.

If Davies and Bayern can’t agree to a new deal anytime soon, the German club would be motivated to sell the 22-year-old player in order to avoid losing him for free. They previously made that mistake with star center-back David Alaba, who left the club as a free agent and signed with Real in 2021.

There is a possibility that Real will make a move for Davies in January if he is available for the right price. If not, they will likely wait until the summer to be more aggressive in their approach.

Alphonso Davies started his career with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, making his debut during the 2016 MLS season. He ended up playing 81 games and scoring 12 goals with the Whitecaps before securing a $13.5 million transfer to Bayern in January 2019.

Since arriving in Germany, Davies has established himself as one of Bayern’s key players. He helped the club claim five consecutive Bundesliga titles while also being part of the squad that won the UEFA Champions League in 2019–20.

Following an impressive 2019/20 campaign, Canada international back Alphonso Davies was expected to be a mainstay in Bayern Munich’s starting lineup for years to come. Surprisingly, however, Davies is spending a lot more time on the bench than on the field this season.

Asked to give his comment on the matter, Bayern’s head coach Hansi Flick explained that the 19-year-old Davies isn’t performing on the expected level right now.

“Alphonso’s form dropped a bit,” said Flick. “But he gets all our support. We benefit from his pace, his energy. It’s important he gets back on track.”

Flick currently prefers Lucas Hernandez on the left back, which caused Davies to clock just two starts in Bundesliga in 2019/20. The talented Canadian is also expected to find himself on the bench for the upcoming UEFA Champions League opening game against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

But Flick insists that Davies can regain his spot in the future.

“It’s a bit normal to see a young player go through such a spell following an incredible season,” he added. “We will support and help him.”

Alphonso Davies started for the majority of the last season, making 46 appearances in all competitions and helping the club to four trophies. Davies contributed with three goals and added 10 assists.

Stellar performances put Davies in the conversation for one of the most talented youngsters in soccer and made him the finalist of Tuttosport’s Golden Boy award. His name is up there with some of the brightest wonderkids in Europe, including Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho.

Canadian international defender Alphonso Davies will be part of German giants Bayern Munich for years to come. The team announced on Monday that Davies signed a new contract which will keep him with the organization until 2025.

Davies has been a pleasant surprise for Bayern this season, breaking into the starting 11 and playing a significant role for the team that sits on the top of the Bundesliga table.

“I am very pleased that Bayern and Alphonso have made a long-term commitment to each other,” said the team’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. “With his speed, his enthusiasm, and his professional attitude, Alphonso is an ideal fit for our team. ”

Alphonso Davies signed with Bayern in 2018, joining from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps for a reported fee of up to $22 million. Davies didn’t play much at the beginning of his time in Germany, but things changed following the dismissal of Niko Kovac.

Under the new coach Hansi Flick, Davies started getting more opportunity and already has 17 starts in 2019/20 Bundesliga. He scored one goal and has four assists to his name.

Davies is part of Canada’s international team since 2017 and has since played a total of 17 games.
