Retired striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be welcomed by AC Milan if he decides he wants to be part of the Seria A side in some capacity, according to club’s CEO Giorgio Furlani.

Ibrahimovic officially retired earlier this summer as a member of Milan. However, this doesn’t mean that the 42-year-old striker plans to walk away from soccer altogether. Back in September, there were reports that the club owner Gerry Cardinale and Ibrahimovic had a meeting during which they discussed a potential role in the future.

When asked about it during a recent chat with reporters, Furlani didn’t refute or deny reports and instead said that Ibrahimovic is always welcome to come to the club.

“He’s a Milan legend, he’s thinking about what to do in the future, in the meantime we are ready to welcome him back at (Milan’s training ground) Milanello whenever he wants,” said Furlani.

It is unclear what kind of role would Zlatan Ibrahimovic have with Milan. Reports indicate that he could step into the role of Technical Director previously held by club legend Paolo Maldini. Ibrahimovic is expected to have a meeting with Cardinale again later this year to discuss the details.

Ibrahimovic played six seasons with Milan across two different stints. He helped the club win two Seria A titles while scoring 93 goals in 163 games.

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic made history during his team’s 3-1 loss to Udinese on Saturday by becoming the oldest goalscorer in Serie A history at 41 years and 166 days. He surpassed the previous record set by Alessandro Costacurta in 2007 by 141 days.

Udinese was eager to use their home-ground advantage to gain the edge over Milan, playing an aggressive, fast-flowing form of attacking football that resulted in Roberto Pereyra grabbing the opening goal in the ninth minute.

In first-half stoppage time, Milan got the opportunity to pull themselves back into the game when they were awarded a penalty following a handball inside the box. While Ibrahimovic missed the initial spot kick, the penalty was ordered to be retaken due to encroachment, with Ibrahimovic scoring the second time around.

Milan’s celebrations were short-lived, however, as Udinese restored their lead two minutes later when Beto scored six minutes into stoppage time. With both sides struggling to find the back of the net in the second half, it was ultimately Udinese who scored again in the 70th minute when an unmarked Kingsley Ehizibue tapped in a goal from close range.

AC Milan will keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic on board even though the Swedish striker will probably be out until early 2023. The Seria A champs revealed the news on Monday, announcing they have re-signed Ibrahimovic to a new one-year deal.

According to the club’s official statement, Ibra’s new deal runs until June 30, 2023, and the 40-year-old player will continue to wear No. 11 on his jersey.

Ibrahimovic didn’t play a lot in 2021-22, making only 23 appearances in Seria A due to various injuries. He still managed to contribute with eight goals and three assists, helping the club win their first domestic title in more than a decade.

After the season ended, Ibrahimovic revealed that he had been playing through an ACL injury for the entire second part of the season. He underwent surgery to deal with the injury in late May and will spend at least seven months on the sidelines. But despite the long layoff and the fact that he’ll be 41 in October, it appears that Ibrahimovic is still not ready to say goodbye to soccer.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined Milan for his second spell in 2019 after previously spending years playing in MLS for LA Galaxy. Ibrahimovic, who also won Seria A during his first stint with the club, played 74 games since then and scored 36 goals.

Swedish star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will stay in Italy for at least one more year. AC Milan announced on Monday that Ibrahimovic inked a one-year extension with the team. The deal is reportedly worth around $8 million.

Ibrahimovic joined Milan midway through 2019/20, originally signing until the end of the season. However, the 38-year-old was impressive enough, scoring 11 goals in 20 matches, to warrant another year in Seria A.

“AC Milan is delighted to announce that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has renewed his contract with the club until June 30, 2021,” AC Milan said in a statement.

Ibrahimovic was linked with a move to native Sweden earlier this summer, with Hammarby, the club in which he has partial ownership, reportedly being among his preferred options. Still, it appears that the temptation of playing at the highest level was too good to turn down.

“We had a great last six months, but we haven’t won anything”, said Ibrahimovic to the club’s official website. “This year I’ve got the chance to be here from the start so we’ve got to continue like we were, working hard and sacrificing ourselves to reach our goals.”

This is the second stint for Zlatan Ibrahimovic with Milan, as he already played for the club between 2010 and 2012. During two seasons, he helped the club win the Seria A title and Supercoppa Italiana trophy while scoring 56 goals in 85 matches.

Ibrahimovic also spent time with Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and LA Galaxy, among other clubs.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic still doesn’t know where he’ll play next season. His contract with AC Milan expires in August, and the 38-year-old forward is unsure if he has a future at San Siro.

Ibrahimovic has been the main figure in Milan’s return to form in the second part of the season, scoring 4 goals and dishing 3 assists in the past six games. Two of those goals came in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win against Sassuolo, which helped his team get to the European League spot in Seria A.

Despite his fine form, however, Ibrahimovic hasn’t heard back from Milan’s brass about a potential contract extension.

“I still have three games, still 10 days, nobody said anything to me, and I don’t expect anything else,” said Ibrahimovic after Sassuolo game via Sky Sport Italia. “There are things that we cannot control, but that seem strange to me, but we are doing great things.”

Most earlier reports suggested that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave Milan after his contract expires and return to native Sweden. Ibrahimovic became a minority owner of the Allsvenskan side Hammarby in 2019, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he ends his career with the club.

Ibrahimovic joined Milan for his second stint in December, after previously playing two years in MLS with LA Galaxy. Since arriving in Italy, he played 17 games in all competitions, scoring a total of eight goals and contributing with four assists.

Swedish striker and former LA Galaxy star Zlatan Ibrahimovic might return home in order to finish his playing career. At least that’s the scenario Jesper Jansson, sporting director of Allsvenskan side Hammarby, hopes to see.

Back in 2019, Ibrahimovic bought 23.5 percent of Hammarby and remains invested in the club. He also used the recent Seria A suspension to work out with the club in order to maintain fitness. Jansson now believes that wearing Hammarby’s jersey might be the next step for the 38-year-old striker.

“Probably, I think so. But only Zlatan knows,” Jansson told Swedish media outlet Expressen when asked whether Ibrahimovic would be willing to play for Hammarby next season. “At the moment he hasn’t said anything about it, and I certainly don’t have to tell him that we want him here.”

Jansson also explained that he doesn’t expect former Sweden international to make the decision anytime soon, although the club “would like this idea very much.”

After seeing out his deal with Galaxy last year, Zlatan Ibrahimovic decided to return to Europe, signing a short-term deal with AC Milan. And although Ibrahimovic saw a successful start of his second stint with Italian giants, scoring four times in 10 games, there are doubts whether he will remain in the club past this season. Milan is currently rebuilding, and would reportedly like to turn to younger players as part of the process.

Ibrahimovic himself recently admitted that he isn’t sure whether he will stay in Italy, and said that he doesn’t rule out playing again in his native Sweden.

We won’t be witnessing Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s magic on MLS games anymore. LA Galaxy confirmed on Wednesday that Ibrahimovic will be leaving the club after spending two years with the organization.

It looked like Ibrahimovic and Galaxy would manage to work out a contract extension during the past several days, but the two sides ended up failing to find an agreement.

The 38-year-old first broke the story about his departure, posting a cryptic message on social media in which he thanked the club and the fans for “making him feel alive again.”

Shortly after that, the Galaxy confirmed the news.

“Since his arrival in 2018, Zlatan has positively influenced the sport of soccer in Los Angeles. We are grateful for his work ethic and passion.” – said LA Galaxy president Chris Klein in a statement. “We thank Zlatan for his professionalism and immeasurable impact on the Los Angeles community and the soccer community in North America as a whole.”

Ibrahimovic joined Galaxy ahead of the 2018 MLS season, and immediately asserted himself as one of the league’s best players. He ended up making 53 appearances with the club and scoring 52 goals while also dishing 17 assists.

According to several reports, Ibrahimovic will most likely continue his career in Europe with AC Milan and Napoli being mentioned as favorites for his signature.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spent the past two seasons establishing himself as one of the most colorful and memorable characters to have played in the MLS.

Now, at the age of 38, he is looking to move back to Europe to finish his career, and according to MLS Commissioner Don Graber, he has one suitor that is pushing for him hard.

In an interview with ESPN on Thursday, Graber said: “He is being recruited by Milan, one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

It has long been speculated that Ibrahimovic could look to rejoin his former Serie A club, and it appears that the recruiting process has already started. The Swedish striker played for AC Milan for two seasons from 2010 to 2012, appearing in 61 games and scoring a total of 42 goals.

Nearing the twilight of his career, the polarizing character has shown no signs of slowing down. Since joining the LA Galaxy at the beginning of the 2018 season, Ibrahimovic has dominated Major League soccer, scoring 52 goals in only 56 matches.

Despite nearing the age of 40, Zlatan still clearly has something left in the tank, and it looks like AC Milan will be pushing hard to acquire his services in this winter’s transfer window.

LA Galaxy’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still not ready to reveal whether he will play in MLS next season. Following the 5-3 loss to LAFC in MLS Western Conference semifinals, Ibrahimovic said that it’s “too early to speak” about his future despite the fact that his contract expires at the end of the year.

Ibrahimovic put on another memorable performance against LAFC, providing one goal and one assist. Still, that wasn’t enough for his team to stay in the MLS Cup race.

Speaking with the reporters after the game, Ibrahimovic said that if he ends up staying, that will benefit the league.

“We’ll see what happens. … [If I stay], then MLS is good, because the whole world will watch it. If I don’t stay, nobody will remember what MLS is.” – said Ibrahimovic.

The 38-year-old Swedish striker joined Galaxy in March 2018. He played 58 games since then and scored 53 goals.

In case that Zlatan Ibrahimovic chooses to leave the United States, there will be plenty of interest from him from other leagues. According to recent reports, Ibrahimovic might be considering a return to Manchester United, which could use a striker considering their attack’s struggles this season. Several Seria A teams are also interested, including Napoli and his old team Inter Milan.
