The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown will not appear in Monday night’s playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a right knee injury. “It was going to be a stretch for A.J. to play,” coach Nick Sirianni admitted. “He did everything he possibly could to get himself ready. He fought like crazy to try and do everything he could do.”

Brown was injured during the first quarter of the Eagles’ loss to the New York Giants last week. After Giants cornerback Nick McCloud punched the ball out of Brown’s hands, the two hit the turf. Brown subsequently rose gingerly, making his way to the medical tent. He was consequently ruled out of practice for the entire week.

Finishing the regular season with 106 receptions for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns, Brown has been a key player for the Eagles throughout the season. During the Eagles’ previous win over the Bucs in September, Brown made nine catches for 131 yards.

The Philadelphia Eagles will be missing three of their key players when they take on the Minnesota Vikings in their second game of the new NFL season on Thursday night.

Running back Kenneth Gainwell and safety Reed Blankenship are both dealing with rib injuries, while cornerback James Bradberry remains in concussion protocol. While defensive tackle Fletcher Cox sustained a rib injury, he has been listed as questionable for the clash and has not yet been ruled out.

Gainwell’s loss will be felt heavily by the Eagles given that he led the team with 14 carries during their 25-20 victory over the New England Patriots. D’Andre Swift is expected to step up and fill in for Gainwell. Still, coach Nick Sirianni has been looking to increase Swift’s role in the team for a while now. “He’ll be in that role sometimes where he carries the load for the game, and he’ll be in the role sometimes like he was in last game,” Sirianni explained.

The Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Robert Quinn was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday, the team announced. This comes after the player complained to the team’s trainers that something didn’t seem right with his knee during a practice session last Thursday.

Following this revelation, Quinn was placed on his team’s injury report the next day and was unavailable for the team’s 35-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Quinn will miss at least the next four games, meaning that he will be available for the Eagles’ final regular season game against the New York Giants at the earliest. According to a report from the NFL Network, the defensive end is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery.

The 32-year-old player posted a career-high 18.5 sacks in 2021—the second-most in the NFL—however, managed just one sack in seven games for the Bears this season before being traded.

Philadelphia got their hands on Quinn in late October ahead of the trade deadline for a fourth-round pick. To date, he has appeared in five games for the Eagles, amassing zero sacks and two tackles.

Monday couldn’t be worse for the Philadelphia Eagles fans. Their star quarterback Carson Wentz has torn its ACL and will miss the rest of regular season and the playoffs. This was confirmed by the Eagles’ coach Doug Pederson on Monday.

Wentz was injured in the game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday and had to leave early. Before exiting the game against the Rams, Wentz had four touchdown passes and passed Sonny Jurgensen for most touchdown passes in the Eagles’ history. Sources close to the Eagles have reported that the manual test showed that Wentz had a loose ACL in his left knee, but the team hoped that MRI on Monday morning will be more encouraging. Unfortunately, the MRI just confirmed the suspicion.

The injury of their quarterback is just one of many for the Eagles this season. They previously lost special-teams captain Chris Maragos, left tackle Jason Peters, linebacker Jordan Hicks and running back Darren Sproles. Without these players, the Eagles still managed to keep themselves in the conversation for Super Bowl appearance. Now, with Wentz being out, that is hard to believe.

If there’s ever an opportunity for me to rally the troops as the football coach, now might be the time,” – said Pederson. “You can’t lose faith. This has been a resilient football team all season long.

Although 2017 NFL season was just his second in the league, Carson Wentz already established himself as a star. He is currently leading the league in touchdowns with 33, while passing 3,296 yards.

The Eagles’ backup quarterback, Nick Foles will step in as a starting QB, according to Pederson. After stepping in for Wentz in the game against the Rams, Foles completed 60.0 percent of his passes for 42 yards. Third-string QB Nate Sudfeld will act as a backup for Foles, while the team still decides whether they’ll add another quarterback to their roster.
