The Philadelphia Eagles will be missing three of their key players when they take on the Minnesota Vikings in their second game of the new NFL season on Thursday night.

Running back Kenneth Gainwell and safety Reed Blankenship are both dealing with rib injuries, while cornerback James Bradberry remains in concussion protocol. While defensive tackle Fletcher Cox sustained a rib injury, he has been listed as questionable for the clash and has not yet been ruled out.

Gainwell’s loss will be felt heavily by the Eagles given that he led the team with 14 carries during their 25-20 victory over the New England Patriots. D’Andre Swift is expected to step up and fill in for Gainwell. Still, coach Nick Sirianni has been looking to increase Swift’s role in the team for a while now. “He’ll be in that role sometimes where he carries the load for the game, and he’ll be in the role sometimes like he was in last game,” Sirianni explained.
