The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown will not appear in Monday night’s playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a right knee injury. “It was going to be a stretch for A.J. to play,” coach Nick Sirianni admitted. “He did everything he possibly could to get himself ready. He fought like crazy to try and do everything he could do.”
Brown was injured during the first quarter of the Eagles’ loss to the New York Giants last week. After Giants cornerback Nick McCloud punched the ball out of Brown’s hands, the two hit the turf. Brown subsequently rose gingerly, making his way to the medical tent. He was consequently ruled out of practice for the entire week.
Finishing the regular season with 106 receptions for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns, Brown has been a key player for the Eagles throughout the season. During the Eagles’ previous win over the Bucs in September, Brown made nine catches for 131 yards.
