The Golden State Warriors forward Otto Porter Jr. left the court early duing his team’s third game against the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals on Sunday night. He departed during the second quarter after experiencing soreness in his left foot. Despite Porter’s departure, Golden State managed to hold off the Mavericks for a decisive 109-100 victory.

Porter sustained his injury after he landed on the floor after going for a layup. During the next stoppage in play, Porter could be seen fidgeting with his left foot and struggling to continue to move as usual. He was subbed off a few moments later.

Following the Warriors’ victory, Porter underwent several X-rays of his left foot, all of which were unable to come up with conclusive results. According to the team’s medical staff, more would be known about Porter’s injury over the next 24 hours.

While still awaiting concrete news, Porter was spotted limping back to the locker room with trainers during a subsequent time out. After the aforementioned X-rays were complete, the forward was seen testing out his foot by running up and down in the hallway.

This latest injury comes after Porter experienced right foot soreness, leading him to miss out on Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals.

The Memphis Grizzlies, who are in 8th place in the tight Western Conference, got some discouraging news on Sunday after finding out that forward Jaren Jackson Jr. will miss time after suffering a sprained left knee.

Jackson, the fourth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, was injured while contesting a shot in the second quarter of Memphis’s 117-105 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center on Friday night.

According to the team’s medical staff, he will be re-evaluated after two weeks of rest and rehabilitation with the hope that he can come back to the team sooner rather than later.

The New Jersey native has been a fixture in Memphis’ starting five this season, playing and starting in all but two of the Grizzlies’ games up until his injury.

The second-year player is averaging 16.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game on 46.9% shooting from the field for Taylor Jenkins’s playoff contenders.

Brandon Clarke, the rookie sixth man out of Gonzaga, is expected to replace Jackson in the starting lineup for Memphis until the injured player’s return.

Memphis must now hope that Jenkins’s absence doesn’t affect them too greatly, as they only maintain a 3.5 game lead over the Portland Trailblazers for the final playoff spot in the West.

Washington Wizards’ Dwight Howard is expected to undergo a surgery that will correct a persistent gluteal injury that has kept him sidelined for the better part of this season, league sources revealed on Friday.

The three-time NBA defensive player of the year has only played nine games this season as a result of the gluteal injury. On Friday, Chris Hayne of Yahoo Sports reported Howard had seen a nerve specialist in Los Angeles that advised him to undergo the surgery.

While nursing his injury, Howard has averaged 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds in a Wizards team that is struggling overall. However, the 32-year-old has been one of the most reliable players in the league for more than a decade. Since his debut in 2004, Howard has played less than 70 games in an NBA season only once.

Howard started the 2018-19 season on a disappointing note, missing the first few games with an injury that causes him pain when he is seated. Other than this year, the 32-year-old has been limited by injuries only twice, in the 2012-13 season and the 2014-15 season.

His great form has kept him in the Wizards starting line up throughout his contract, including playing 81 games last season. His career average is 17.4 points and 12.6 rebounds and was the No.1 draft pick in 2004.
