The Chicago Bulls’ Lonzo Ball isn’t thinking of retiring despite still dealing with a knee injury that kept him sidelined for almost two years. Speaking with reporters during Bulls’ media day on Tuesday, Ball reiterated his intention to continue playing basketball.

“I definitely plan on playing again,” Ball said. “I’m only 25, I feel like the rehab process has been going well so far. No setbacks. So for me it’s just keeping my head up, just keep doing the work.”

Ball suffered a meniscus tear in January 2022 and had to undergo surgery that ruled him out for the rest of the 2021-22 season. The former second-overall pick missed the entire 2022-23 campaign, having two more surgeries on the same knee. The Bulls also indicated that they expect him to sit out the upcoming season as well.

“Rehab’s been long. Feels like every day is almost the same. I’m getting better each week, and that’s all I can ask for,” Ball added.

Ball arrived in Chicago ahead of the 2021-22 season and only managed to play 35 games in a Bulls jersey. The 25-year-old player played well before suffering an injury, averaging 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. He previously played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball posted a video of himself dunking on social media, explaining that he is making headway in his recovery from his left knee injury.

According to Bulls coach Billy Donovan, Ball is making small strides on the road to recovery and has shown signs of being able to do certain actions that he was incapable of six weeks ago.

“Is there pain there? Yes, there’s still some discomfort there,” Donovan said of Ball’s injury status. “I’m not trying to say what Lonzo’s pain is. But the question is does he have pain? Yes. Is it the same pain he was dealing with six weeks ago? No. How much better is it? It’s good enough that he can get on a treadmill and do some running and he can go jump and go dunk the ball.”

Ball stated during a team charity event last month that he is experiencing improvements in his surgically repaired knee, which appeared at the time to be his most positive update since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgeries on both knees last January.

The Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball will miss the remainder of his team’s training camp and looks set to miss the start of the NBA season due to the aftereffects of his meniscus surgery. The player underwent surgery in January and has continued to experience lingering pain and discomfort in his left knee as a result.

Ball is expected to arrive in Chicago next week, where he will undergo evaluation by the Bulls’ medical team. He is, however, not expected to partake in any physical activities on the field.

“He’s getting better, probably not at the speed that we would like,” Bulls Vice President Arturas Karnisovas revealed during a broadcast for one of the team’s summer leagues in July.

While initially expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks, Ball’s knee didn’t respond well to attempts by the medical team to increase his on-court activity in an attempt to bring the player back into action.

Before incurring his knee injury, Ball enjoyed a promising start to his NBA campaign with Chicago last year, averaging 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. The 25-year-old player underwent a procedure to repair a meniscus tear in the same knee in 2018.

Lonzo Ball will return from injury and play for the LA Lakers in Wednesday’s preseason friendly against the Golden State Warriors in Las Vegas.

Ball, who has been out with injury for six months, is slated to play between 10 and 30 minutes when the Lakers meet the Warriors on Wednesday. Coach Luke Walton also expects the 20-year-old to play in Laker’s preseason finale against the Warriors in San Jose.

Feels like a long time,” – Ball said before the Lakers left for Vegas on Tuesday. “So I am very happy to get back on the floor finally, and it all starts with tomorrow.”

Ball also spoke about his injury, which had left him sidelined since March 28, when he played against Dallas.

It’s frustrating when you play basketball your whole life and then it gets taken away from you for a little bit. But I am happy to be back.”

Fellow guard, Josh Hart, will miss the game after he was injured in practice on Monday.

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball underwent a successful arthroscopic surgery to his left knee, the team has announced on Wednesday. Ball, who was the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, is expected to recover in time for the start of the 2018-19 training camp.

Lonzo Ball considered several options to deal with a torn meniscus in his knee including resting for a month or getting a platelet-rich plasma injection treatment. He eventually decided to go with the surgery, hoping to resolve the issue so he could be ready once the new season starts.

I know he’s evaluating with his management team a number of things,” – said Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka recently about Ball’s injury. “The good news is all the things they’re evaluating as his options have him 100 percent ready for training camp … We’re just excited to know he’s going to be 100 percent available for training camp.”

Lonzo Ball doesn’t have a great season behind him, considering how high he was picked in the draft, but he still managed to contribute 10.2 points, 7.2 assists, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. He will, however, have to step up this season considering that the Lakers have big ambition after acquiring LeBron James. One of the big changes compared to last year will be the fact that Ball will finally have a proper challenger for the starting spot since Rajon Rondo came to Los Angeles in the free agency.
