After a surprisingly long wait on the free-agent market, Pro Bowl wideout Jarvis Landry has a new team. Landry broke the news himself on social media, hinting not so subtly that he signed with the New Orleans Saints.

The move will be a homecoming for Landry, considering he is a Louisiana native and has played college football at LSU. The 29-year-old player is arriving in New Orleans just a couple of weeks after the Saints also signed another LSU standout in safety Tyrann Mathieu.

Landry is coming to New Orleans after a challenging 2021 campaign with the Cleveland Browns. He only played 12 games due to injuries and recorded career-lows in catches (52), receiving yards (570), and touchdowns (2). The Browns ended up releasing him in March after he didn’t accept a contract restructure.

The down year in 2022 probably factored in Landry’s prolonged time on the market, but it isn’t the only reason why he remained unsigned for two months. He had a number of suitors from the get-go, but most teams were unwilling to meet his salary demands, believed to be in the range of $20 million annually. It is still unclear whether the Saints agreed to this number or managed to get a hometown discount.

Jarvis Landry was the second-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. In his four seasons with the Dolphins and another four with the Browns, Landry managed to catch 699 passes for 7,598 yards and 37 touchdowns. He also made the Pro Bowl five times.

The Cleveland Browns got pretty banged up during their 31-21 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday. Their No. 1 wide receiver Jarvis Landry suffered an MCL sprain that might force him to the sidelines, while quarterback Baker Mayfield earned a shoulder injury.

Landry went down on the first play of the game, injuring his knee following a 9-yard reception. He exited the contest immediately and didn’t return.

On Monday, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed during a press conference that Landry is dealing with an MCL sprain. Stefanski added that the Pro Bowl wideout will be “week-to-week” and said that team is still considering whether to place him on the injured reserve list. If Landry ends up landing on the IR list, he will miss at least three weeks before being eligible to return.

Cleveland is already without Odell Beckham Jr, who is still recovering from an ACL injury and is questionable for the Week 3 clash against the Chicago Bears. If Beckham isn’t ready to go next Sunday, the Browns will hope rookie Anthony Schwartz, second-year player Donovan Peoples-Jones, and veteran Rashard Higgins are ready to step up.

The Browns had more luck with Baker Mayfield, who managed to finish the game despite dislocating his shoulder. Mayfield doesn’t seem he’ll miss any time, telling the reporters it’s “nothing too serious”.

“It kind of popped in and out, but I will be good,” Mayfield said at the press conference.

Cleveland Browns’ Pro Bowl wideout Jarvis Landry decided to use the offseason to tackle the nagging hip injury that troubled him for the better part of 2019. Browns confirmed on Thursday that Landry underwent hip surgery earlier this month, but is expected to be fully ready for the next season.

Landry previously told the reporters that he intends to deal with the injury by rehabbing until the start of the new campaign. However, things obviously didn’t go as planned, and the player opted to get the procedure instead. According to sources close to the organization, the 27-year-old WR should recover in time for training camp.

Landry himself discussed the surgery in two lengthy videos he posted on social media.

Despite the injury, Jarvis Landry managed to put together a productive season. He finished the year with 83 receptions for 1,174 yards and six touchdowns en route to his fifth straight Pro Bowl appearance. This was unfortunately overshadowed by Cleveland’s poor form as the team missed the playoffs with 6-10 record.

Landry is second Browns’ wideout that had to go under the knife this offseason. Previously, Odell Beckham Jr. underwent surgery to fix his core muscle issues.

Cleveland Browns are having a disappointing 2019 considering how high their expectations were before the start of the season. Browns are currently 6-7 and would need a miracle to get to the playoffs. To make things even worse, rumors say that their star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr wants out.

Beckham was cagey about his future in Cleveland when asked about it in early December, and several reports since then claimed that the 27-year-old wideout is actively attempting to leave the Browns. However, his teammate and friend Jarvis Landry say this is not true.

Landry, who was also Beckham’s teammate at LSU during their college days, said on Thursday that OBJ “is not trying to leave” the Browns.

“It’s not even about trying to go somewhere else, for him,” – said Landry. “He’s been a leader. He’s a guy that comes to work every day. He’s a guy that’s played through injuries. All of the things you want out of a player.”

“Inside this organization he has a voice, he has a responsibility to himself to all of us to go out there and compete each and every Sunday. And he does that. So he doesn’t want to leave and he’s not trying to leave.” – he added.

Odell Beckham joined Cleveland Browns from New York Giants in a blockbuster trade in March. He was expected to be a big centerpiece in Browns’ playoff run, but things didn’t work out that way. Cleveland is playing on a disappointing level considering their talent, and Beckham has one of the worst years in his career.

In 13 games in 2019, Beckham has 59 receptions for 844 yards and only two touchdowns. He also failed to get to 100 receiving yards in the last seven games, the longest stretch in his career.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry is a man who isn’t afraid to speak about himself in superlatives. He has proved that in a recent interview with ESPN by saying that he is the “best receiver in the NFL.” According to Landry, he is the most complete player compared to other wideouts in the league.

The people that play the game (such as) Steve Smith, Hines Ward, (and) Anquan Boldin. These are the guys that I feel played the right way. Complete. That’s why I feel like I am the best receiver in the NFL today because I am complete in that way.”

I respect the game. I believe if you turn on the tape I’m not taking no plays off. I am going to block who I need to block and I’m getting to my assignment and I am making plays in the pass game,” – the 25-year-old added after being asked whether he is better than Pittsburgh Steelers’ Antonio Brown.

While there is a lot of room for debate when it comes to Jarvis Landry being among the top WRs in the league, no one can deny that he was very successful during his time in the league.

Landry made three straight Pro Bowl selections from 2015 to 2017 and led the NFL in receptions last season. His 400 career receptions are also the most by a player through his first four years in the league’s history.

It looks like the Cleveland Browns are holding tightly to their draft picks, while teams like Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles were busy trading. On Friday, however, all of that changed. The Browns managed to finalize two big trades, acquiring wide receiver Jarvis Landry from Miami Dolphins and quarterback Tyrod Taylor from Buffalo Bills. The Dolphins got 2018 fourth-round and a 2019 seventh-round draft pick in exchange for Landry, while Bills settled for a third-round pick, No. 65 overall pick in 2018 NFL Draft.

This wasn’t the end of trading for the Browns, who also shipped away quarterback DeShone Kizer to Green Bay Packers in exchange for cornerback Damarious Randall, with the teams also swapping picks in the fourth and fifth rounds of the upcoming draft.

Jarvis Landry represents a great coup for Cleveland Browns, who were in a need of a veteran wide receiver. He led the league in receptions last season with 112, has 987 receiving yards to go alongside 9 touchdowns. Landry was franchise tagged by the Dolphins on February 20, which means he is currently under a one-year, $15.982 million contract. It is expected, however, that the Browns will negotiate a long-term deal with Landry, and possibly make him one of the league’s highest-paid receivers.

Tyrod Taylor gives Browns a veteran quarterback, something that team lacked in the last season. Taylor played 15 games for the Bills in 2017, completing 62.6 of his passes (263 out of 420) for 2,799 yards, and managed 14 touchdowns alongside 4 interceptions.
Despite getting Taylor, Cleveland Browns are expected also to draft one of the talented quarterbacks in this year’s draft, possibly USC’s Sam Darnold or Wyoming’s Josh Allen.

Finally, with Damarious Randall, the Browns will get a promising young cornerback, but who was greatly inconsistent during his three years in the league.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry is heading to his third straight Pro Bowl without having his future settled. Landry, who is set to become a free agent in March, is yet to strike a new deal with the Dolphins. That, however, could soon change, since he told ESPN that there is some progress in the negotiations.

We’re making progress,” – said Landry. “We’re working. Hopefully it’ll work into something, but honestly, I’m here to enjoy the Pro Bowl and let the rest take care of itself.

This comes a week after the 25-year-old stated that he felt disrespected by the team in the process of making him an offer.

From the offer process until this point was disrespectful,“- he said. “I tried to handle it the right way and figured if a team values you and wants you to be a part of the team, why haven’t they answered in the past month?

Jarvis Landry was the league’s leading receiver in 2017 season with 112 receptions for 987 yards and 9 touchdowns. If the Dolphins fail to strike a deal with the player, they could place a franchise tag on him, which would be worth around $16 million. Asked would he be prepared to play under the tag, Landry stated he only wants to play football.

I just want to play football. I love the game,” – said Landry. “I love everything about it. I love being in that locker room, my teammates, being with the guys and going out there and competing for every Sunday or Monday or Thursday or whatever it is to win a game. For me, that’s what it’s about. That’s the most important thing to me, the most important factor to me.

Miami Dolphins selected Landry in the 2014 NFL Draft with a 63rd overall pick. During the three years in the league, he managed 400 receptions which are third among all players in NFL during that period.
