The San Francisco Giants outfielder Mitch Haniger broke his right forearm when getting hit by a pitch during his team’s 11-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.

“Any time you get hit, the hand’s warm and it doesn’t feel great,” Haniger commented after the game. “Injuries are part of the game, at same time you’ve got to focus on what’s next.”

Haniger’s injury comes shortly after he returned from an oblique injury that he incurred during spring training. Since beginning his oblique recovery, Haniger had developed fine form, hitting .230 with four homers and 22 RBIs. Haniger hit two runs to help the Giants defeat the Cardinals 4-2 on Monday night.

Giants manager Gabe Kapler acknowledged that this new injury is a major setback, particularly as Kapler proved to be finding his form. He called it a “pretty good gut punch” for both Haniger and the team as a whole.

Daniel Jones signed a four-year with the New York Giants on Tuesday, the team confirmed. This came on the same day that the team used their nonexclusive franchise tag on running back Saquon Barkley.

Jones’s deal is worth $160 million, with the quarterback set to earn a guaranteed $82 million at signing. This is in addition to $35 million in incentives. Under the nonexclusive franchise tender, Barkley will earn $10.091 million in 2023 for his deal.

Giants general manager Joe Schoen expressed his satisfaction following the conclusion of both deals, stating that the team was determined to hold onto both players.

“We had productive conversations with Daniel and his representatives over the course of the past week or so,” Schoen stated in a news release. “We are all pleased that we were able to come to an agreement prior to today’s deadline. This gives us a greater ability to continue to build our roster.”

Drafted during the first round in 2019, Jones experienced his most efficient season with the Giants last year, leading the team to a winning record for the first time during his NFL career. He passed for 3,205 yards with 15 touchdowns.

Barkley finished 2022 as fourth in the NFL with 1,312 rushing yards. He scored 10 touchdowns and finished with 1,650 yards from scrimmage last season.

The New York Giants star Saquon Barkley is a doubt for the Giants’ upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. This comes as the running back is dealing with a neck injury.

Barkley was a limited participant in training both on Thursday and Friday. While placed on his team’s injury report on Thursday, there is still a possibility that Barkley will be used in the Eagles game.

Coach Brian Daboll stated that he hopes Barkley will be available in time for Sunday’s game while admitting that the star running back’s participation is not guaranteed. Daboll added that Barkley’s injury did not occur in training, although he was listed as a full participant on Wednesday.

“Week 14, his neck’s a little sore, so [we] put him on the injury report,” Daboll stated, adding, “I think it’s just a long season, sore, so [we’ll] see where he is [Friday].”

Barkley remained adamant on Thursday that he is not injured, instead blaming his issues on late-season soreness. “I’m just not playing well,” the running back maintained.

Currently, Barkley is fourth in the NFL with 1,055 yards rushing and eight touchdowns in 12 games.

The New York Giants hoped the 2021 NFL season would finally be the one in which they return to playoffs. But as it turns out, this season had nothing but disappointments in store for both the team and the Giants fans.

Coach Joe Judge isn’t shying away from the fact that his team is playing bad football and believes he knows who’s responsible for the 1-5 start of the campaign.

“I’m the head coach. It’s my responsibility, point blank,” Judge said during a chat with reporters on Thursday. “Every player on this field, every position group, the execution, it all comes down to me. The fish stinks from the head down.”

Still, Judge said that he is feeling no pressure for having another bad start of the season and compiling a 7-15 record since taking over the Giants. The 39-year-old believes his team will turn things around and that better times for the franchise are around the corner.

“I can assure everyone out there that’s a Giants fan and they want to know when it’s going to turn, I can tell them right now we’re working tirelessly to make sure we get this thing turned around in the right direction, not just for short-term results, but for long-term success,” he added.

While it’s great that Judge remains optimistic, it is still hard to see the Giants getting any better anytime soon. They not only have a tough schedule that will see them play teams with a winning record in their next four games but are also significantly banged up and will be without several of their key players in the coming weeks.

It will be the Los Angeles Dodgers who live to tell the story of the clash between the two winningest teams in the 2021 MLB season. The Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants in a thriller on Thursday night and punched the ticket for their fifth NL Championship Series appearance in six years.

After five scoreless innings, the Dodgers finally broke the tie at the top of the sixth when shortstop Corey Seager doubled to the left and All-Star Mookie Betts scored.  But the Giants didn’t take long to respond, with first baseman Darin Ruf hitting a 452 home run. This was the longest homer of the postseason so far.

The deadlock was broken again thanks to Cody Bellinger’s RBI single at the top of the ninth.

Then it was up to Max Scherzer, a starter in the Game 3 loss, to take it home. Scherzer delivered by pitching a hitless inning, earning a save, and propelling the Dodgers to NLCS.

“To be in that moment, with everything on the line, with the way we’ve been playing this whole series, to get the ball in that situation, man, that was a rush,” said Scherzer after the game.

“We poured everything we could into this series, and it took everything we had to beat these guys,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts added.

The Dodgers now only have the Atlanta Braves standing in the way of their return to the World Series. The Giants, on the other hand, have ended their 107-win season earlier than expected and will have to wait until 2022 to end their NLCS drought.

The New York Giants could finally get some help at the corner position after previously failing to finalize a deal with Ross Cockrell. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Giants are now expected to sign ex-Arizona Cardinals cornerback Brandon Williams.

Williams will officially join the Giants after he passes his physical. The 27-year-old veteran hasn’t played in the league since 2018.

Brandon Williams played as running back for the majority of his college career, switching to the corner only in his senior year. Still, the Arizona Cardinals spent the third-round pick to draft him in 2016.

During his time with the Cardinals, Williams played 45 games and had three starts. He was used both in secondary and on special teams and has career stats that include 45 tackles and five pass breakups.

Giants currently have veteran James Bradberry as the projected starter at cornerback, but past him, the team seems thin at the position. It is unclear whether they will be able to count on starter DeAndre Baker, who is dealing with some legal issues, while 2018’s third-round pick Sam Beal previously opted out due to coronavirus pandemic concerns.

New York Giants are continuing with the efforts to overhaul their offensive line and have now landed the services of free agent right tackle Mike Remmers. According to reports, Remmers, who last played with Minnesota Vikings, inked a one-year deal.

SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano reports that the contract is worth $2.5 million with $1 million guaranteed. Remmers can earn an extra $1.5 million through incentives, bringing the worth to $4 million.

The deal was confirmed by the player’s agent Brett Tessler on Twitter.

“Happy to announce that Mike Remmers just agreed in principle to a deal with the New York Giants and is looking forward to moving back to his natural position of right tackle. His last 2 seasons playing that position he helped his teams to a Super Bowl and an NFC Championship game,” – Tessler tweeted.

‏ Mike Remmers started his NFL career in 2012, signing a deal with the Denver Broncos as an unrestricted free agent. He was cut by the Broncos before the start of the season but ended up spending time with several teams before finally landing a starting gig with the Carolina Panthers in 2014.

After two years in Carolina, Remmers signed with the Vikings, who used him as a starter on several positions including right tackle, tackle, and right guard.

The New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham skipped Thursday’s training session to get a second opinion on whether to go ahead with a surgery for his lingering quad injury problem.

The 26-year-old was injured over two weeks ago in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He wasn’t sidelined for long though as he appeared against the Bears and Sunday’s game versus the Washington Redskins.

After Sunday, Beckham’s injury problem worsened and couldn’t practice consistently this week. He was limited to individual drills on Wednesday. Despite the visible signs of the receiver’s injury, the Giants haven’t been vocal about it, with Coach Pat Shurmur only saying he’s just getting it checked out.

“I don’t expect him to be out there (on practice), the coach said. “He’s getting further evaluation today and we’ll find out. We’re just getting it checked out. It doesn’t mean anything.”

Without Odell, the Giants rely on Sterling Shepard, Russell Shepard, Corey Coleman and Bennie Fowler for receiver positions. Cody Latimer is also expected to return to active play to add depth in the same position.

With his great performances this season, the Giants will miss Beckham in his absence. The fact that he is the most paid athlete in the team’s roster also means the team wishes he would be healthy every other time.

With his great performances this season, the Giants will miss Beckham in his absence. The fact that he is the most paid athlete in the team’s roster also means the team wishes he would be healthy every other time.
