The New York Giants could finally get some help at the corner position after previously failing to finalize a deal with Ross Cockrell. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Giants are now expected to sign ex-Arizona Cardinals cornerback Brandon Williams.

Williams will officially join the Giants after he passes his physical. The 27-year-old veteran hasn’t played in the league since 2018.

Brandon Williams played as running back for the majority of his college career, switching to the corner only in his senior year. Still, the Arizona Cardinals spent the third-round pick to draft him in 2016.

During his time with the Cardinals, Williams played 45 games and had three starts. He was used both in secondary and on special teams and has career stats that include 45 tackles and five pass breakups.

Giants currently have veteran James Bradberry as the projected starter at cornerback, but past him, the team seems thin at the position. It is unclear whether they will be able to count on starter DeAndre Baker, who is dealing with some legal issues, while 2018’s third-round pick Sam Beal previously opted out due to coronavirus pandemic concerns.
