Eden Hazard’s time with Real Madrid is over. The La Liga giants announced on Saturday that it reached a contract termination with Hazard that will see the player depart one year before his contract was set to expire.

Hazard will leave the club after four disappointing seasons during which he only played 76 matches and scored seven goals.

It is unclear what Hazard’s next step will be. He isn’t expected to draw a lot of interest from big European clubs, so he might decide to cash in on his reputation and play in MLS or Saudi Arabia. He was most recently linked with CF Montréal.

Eden Hazard became one of the world’s best soccer players during his time with LOSC Lille and Chelsea. His creativity, vision, and feel for goal made him a nightmare for the opponent’s defenses and helped him win multiple individual accolades, including Premier League Player of the Season in 2014–15.

After he scored 110 goals and had 92 assists with Chelsea in seven seasons in Premier League, Hazard secured a €146 million transfer to Real Madrid, becoming the club’s most-expensive signing in history. He was expected to launch a new era for the famed La Liga side and help them get more trophies in the building. And while the trophies came, it wasn’t thanks to Hazard.

Hazard never settled in Madrid the way he was expected to. He missed long stretches with multiple injuries and struggled with inconsistencies when he was available. Eventually, he was phased out by younger and hungrier players like Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo and only played 10 games in all competitions in 2022-23 despite being healthy for the better part of the campaign.

It looks like Real Madrid will have to find a way to win La Liga without forward Eden Hazard. According to Robert Martinez, who coaches Hazard with Belgium national team, the 29-year-old will miss the rest of the season due to an injury.

Hazard suffered an ankle injury on Saturday during Madrid’s game against Levante. He had to leave the game midway through the second half, but the club didn’t provide any details about his condition afterward. Martinez, however, spilled the beans in a recent chat with reporters, revealing that Hazard will have to sit out for at least three months.

“We are very sad, because this injury will leave him out of action for at least three months,” said Martinez. “A footballer like Eden should always be on the pitch. We have an excellent communication with Real Madrid’s medical staff and we are anxious about Eden.”

Since joining Real Madrid in the summer, Eden Hazard had a tough time staying on the pitch. Struggling with injuries, Hazard managed to play only 10 games in La Liga, where he contributed with one goal and one assist. He also added five games in the Champions League but failed to get himself on the scoreboard.

Real was on the top of the La Liga for the most part of the season, managing to overcome Hazard’s struggles. However, they slipped against Levante and have forfeited the first place to Barcelona. The two rivals are set to meet next weekend in what might be the deciding match in the title race.

Eden Hazard’s stint with Real Madrid hasn’t started as well as everyone hoped it will. The Belgian star winger struggled since coming to Spain, playing only four matches due to injuries and failing to record a single goal or assists. Well, it turns out that Hazard himself is well aware of his struggles and is determined to do better.

During a news conference ahead of Champions League game against Club Brugge, Hazard told reporters that he doesn’t let criticism get to him. Still, he knows that it’s justified.

“I feel good and strong,” – said Hazard. “It’s true that people expect a lot from me and so do I. I can do better. I’m critical of myself and I’m working every day to achieve great things because we have a great squad.”

“I don’t doubt myself, I’m confident. Right now, I’m only lacking the goals and being more decisive. Football is all about confidence.” – he added.

Real’ head coach Zinedine Zidane also isn’t concern about the poor performances of his star player. According to Zidane, he understands Hazard’s struggles as he also needed time to adapt when changed leagues during his playing career.

“The same thing happened to me,” – Zidane added. “I’m relaxed, I knew it was going to take time for him to adapt and it was worse when I moved to Italy because it took me three months, but less in Madrid.”

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in a transfer worth approximately $110 million. Hazard previously spent seven years in London, playing 352 games and scoring 110 goals.

It’s now official. Belgium star forward Eden Hazard is leaving Chelsea in order to join La Liga giants Real Madrid.

According to reports, Real paid around $112 million for Hazard, who is set to ink a deal that will run until 2024. The 28-year-old will be officially introduced on June 13th.

Both Chelsea and Real Madrid confirmed the deal on their official social media.

“Although it is with sadness we say goodbye to Eden and we made it absolutely clear to him the club wished him to stay, we respect the decision he has made to take on a new challenge in a different country and follow his childhood dream of playing for Real Madrid,” – said Chelsea’s sporting director Marina Granovskaia.

“The memories he leaves us with will not fade. He provided all who watched Chelsea play with great entertainment and many match-winning contributions, and for that we thank Eden enormously. He has been a model professional throughout his time at the club, a wonderful individual to have around and a joy to work with. We look forward to welcoming him back to Stamford Bridge in the future.”

Eden Hazard joined Chelsea in 2012 from French side Lille, and has since played a total of 302 games for the club while scoring 89 goals and providing 40 assists. He

It looks like Eden Hazard’s time in London will come to an end pretty soon. According to influential Spanish media outlet Marca, Real Madrid and Chelsea are close to reaching agreement over Belgian star forward’s transfer to Spain.

Hazard and Real have reportedly already agreed to personal terms, but the two clubs are still negotiating about the price. Chelsea put a $160 million price tag on the 28-year-old, which is something La Liga giants aren’t willing to pay since the player has just one year left on his contract. It is expected, however, that the two sides will agree on a price of $110 million which would install Hazard as Real’s most expensive signing in history.

Even if Real Madrid and Chelsea come to an agreement about Eden Hazard in the coming days, the official announcement won’t come before the end of the season. Chelsea is looking to avoid unnecessary media attention as they are making a final push to secure UEFA Champions League spot next season and advance to Europa League finals this year.

Besides Hazard, Real and Chelsea are discussing a deal about Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic as well. Kovacic spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Chelsea, with the London club now looking to make the move permanent. This transfer is expected to go down smoothly as all sides involved are on the same terms.

Although Belgium star winger Eden Hazard is playing some of his best soccer under the guidance of new Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri, he is still not ruling away the possibility of playing for Real Madrid in the near future.

Hazard was linked with a move to Spain this past summer but ended up staying with Chelsea after the club was unwilling to let him go. Still, in a recent interview, Hazard admitted that playing for Real is a dream for him since he was a child and he still has ambitions to play there.

Real Madrid is the best club in the world,” – said Hazard. “I don’t want to lie, it is my dream since I was a kid.”

We will see. I don’t want to talk about this every day. I don’t have time, but we will talk about my future soon.” – he added.

Eden Hazard’s former Chelsea teammate and fellow Belgium international Thibaut Courtois already made a switch to Real Madrid this summer. Courtois publicly stated his desire to move to Madrid and in order to force the club to let him go, failed to report for training camp.

But Hazard isn’t willing to take this approach.

I don’t want that [drama],” – Hazard explained. “I want what’s good for me, but I want what’s good for the club because the club has given me everything. I don’t want to say: ‘Yes, I am signing a new contract,’ and then I don’t end up signing.”

Hazard is having a tremendous start of the season, having scored eight goals and added three assists in 10 matches in all competitions for Chelsea.
