It looks like Real Madrid will have to find a way to win La Liga without forward Eden Hazard. According to Robert Martinez, who coaches Hazard with Belgium national team, the 29-year-old will miss the rest of the season due to an injury.

Hazard suffered an ankle injury on Saturday during Madrid’s game against Levante. He had to leave the game midway through the second half, but the club didn’t provide any details about his condition afterward. Martinez, however, spilled the beans in a recent chat with reporters, revealing that Hazard will have to sit out for at least three months.

“We are very sad, because this injury will leave him out of action for at least three months,” said Martinez. “A footballer like Eden should always be on the pitch. We have an excellent communication with Real Madrid’s medical staff and we are anxious about Eden.”

Since joining Real Madrid in the summer, Eden Hazard had a tough time staying on the pitch. Struggling with injuries, Hazard managed to play only 10 games in La Liga, where he contributed with one goal and one assist. He also added five games in the Champions League but failed to get himself on the scoreboard.

Real was on the top of the La Liga for the most part of the season, managing to overcome Hazard’s struggles. However, they slipped against Levante and have forfeited the first place to Barcelona. The two rivals are set to meet next weekend in what might be the deciding match in the title race.
