New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is feared to be out for the season after he was forced off the field by a noncontact injury in his team’s 30-6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. A source has claimed that the quarterback suffered a torn ACL.

Jones’ right knee buckled during the final play of the first quarter. After testing it out between quarters, Jones decided to proceed with the game, however, he collapsed on the first play of the second quarter without receiving any physical contact.

An MRI for the quarterback has been scheduled for Monday in order to determine the full extent of his injury. This comes after the X-ray that he underwent at Allegiant Stadium, which came back negative. Still, the fact that Jones suffered a noncontact injury has raised concerns that he will be out over the long term.

The New York Giants were already underdogs for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. But their chances of walking away with a win became even slimmer on Friday after starting quarterback Daniel Jones was ruled out due to a neck injury.

Jones hurt his neck in last week’s 31-16 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He exited the game in the early fourth quarter and didn’t return.

Daboll told reporters that Jones is feeling better but isn’t 100% ready to get on the field.

“I think he’s getting better but not good enough to play for this game,” Daboll said.

While losing Jones is a tough blow for the Giants, Daboll believes that the offense is in a good place with backup Tyrod Taylor under center.

“Tyrod’s a pro,” he added. “He comes out every day and approaches it the right way in the backup situation, but he always approaches it as if he’s the starter. He’s had a good week, he’s prepared well, but he does that every week.”

Daniel Jones has been playing poorly to start 2023, throwing for only 884 yards and two touchdowns while having six interceptions. As a result, the Giants have been stuck at the bottom of the NFC East with only one win from their first five games.

Daniel Jones signed a four-year with the New York Giants on Tuesday, the team confirmed. This came on the same day that the team used their nonexclusive franchise tag on running back Saquon Barkley.

Jones’s deal is worth $160 million, with the quarterback set to earn a guaranteed $82 million at signing. This is in addition to $35 million in incentives. Under the nonexclusive franchise tender, Barkley will earn $10.091 million in 2023 for his deal.

Giants general manager Joe Schoen expressed his satisfaction following the conclusion of both deals, stating that the team was determined to hold onto both players.

“We had productive conversations with Daniel and his representatives over the course of the past week or so,” Schoen stated in a news release. “We are all pleased that we were able to come to an agreement prior to today’s deadline. This gives us a greater ability to continue to build our roster.”

Drafted during the first round in 2019, Jones experienced his most efficient season with the Giants last year, leading the team to a winning record for the first time during his NFL career. He passed for 3,205 yards with 15 touchdowns.

Barkley finished 2022 as fourth in the NFL with 1,312 rushing yards. He scored 10 touchdowns and finished with 1,650 yards from scrimmage last season.

The New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones recently switched agents, and his new representatives immediately got to work on securing him a new contract. And it appears that their approach from the start is to “go big or go home.”

The initial reports by sources close to the negotiations between the Giants and Jones suggested that the player was asking around $45 million annually to sign a new deal. However, with the change of agents came a change in the asking price. Jones’ new agents from Athletes First now want more than $45 million per year, which would make their client among the league’s top five highest-paid quarterbacks.

Daniel Jones played a solid season in 2022 after struggling to find his footing in the league in the previous three years. Despite this, it is highly unlikely the Giants would pay him like one of the best quarterbacks in the league. According to multiple reports, the New York team is willing to do between $35 million to $39 million annually to seal the deal but not more than that.

If Jones continues to insist on a big number, the Giants can franchise tag him and play him one more season to see if he’s actually worth it.

“Daniel played well this year. We’d like to have him back,” Joe Schoen told reporters earlier in the week. “We have different options whether it’s contract extension or utilizing the franchise tag. In an ideal world we’d get something done with him, and we’re gonna continue to work towards that.”

The New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones stated on Thursday that he underwent a neck procedure during the winter. He clarified that this procedure was not related to a football injury and is not connected to the neck issue that ruled him out of action for the last six games of the last NFL season.

“I had a non-football-related procedure done on my neck. I saw there was something about it. It was completely unrelated, but I feel good. Neck is great,” Jones confirmed.

Jones was sidelined during week 12 of last season with what was labeled a “disc injury”, resulting in the player remaining on the injured reserve until the conclusion of the season.

Concerns about Jones’ health came to light when a photo circulated on social media showing what appeared to be a six-inch scar above Jones’ chest, thereby signifying the possibility that he had undergone surgery.

Jones returned to football on Thursday night in the game against the New England Patriots. He managed to complete 6 of 10 passes for 69 yards to help the Giants to a narrow 23-21 win.

The New York Giants don’t seem to believe that quarterback Daniel Jones is the future of their franchise. This became clear on Thursday when the organization reportedly declined the fifth-year option on Jones’ rookie contract.

Jones, who was the sixth overall pick in 2019, is now set to become a free agent after this season. The Duke product would be scheduled to earn $22.39 million in 2023 on the fifth-year option if it was picked up.

This development doesn’t mean that the Giants have given up on Jones completely. The 24-year-old player is still expected to be a starter for the team in 2022 and will have one year to prove himself under new head coach Brian Daboll. If that turns out to be the case, New York can tie him to a long-term extension or place a franchise tag to keep him around.

The reason why the Giants didn’t want to risk with the fifth-year option is the way similar moves have worked out for other teams in the past. The Cleveland Browns picked up QB Baker Mayfield’s fifth-year option last year, only to move in another direction with a trade for Deshaun Watson this offseason. They are now stuck with Mayfield and his $18.86 million salary, which proved to be an obstacle in their efforts to trade him. The Carolina Panthers find themselves in a similar situation with Sam Darnold.

Daniel Jones had a promising rookie season with the Giants, throwing for 3,027 yards and 24 touchdowns in 13 games he played. However, he struggled in the following two years and managed only 21 TDs combined.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got their sixth victory of the season with a close 25-23 win over the New York Giants on Monday night.

Quarterback Tom Brady and the Bucs had to rally from a 14-3 halftime deficit, getting some help from Giants, quarterback Daniel Jones, who threw two costly interceptions and now has 35 turnovers in the first 20 starts of his career.

The two Jones picks led to 10 points for the Bucs, a field goal by kicker Ryan Succop (who had four on the night), and a three-yard TD pass to Brady’s long-time favorite target, tight end Rob Gronkowski.

But the game wasn’t over until the final seconds. Jones was able to lead a touchdown drive in the last minute, connecting on a beautiful throw to wide receiver Golden Tate.

However, with less than 30 seconds left in the game, the Giants failed to get the two-point conversion that could have tied up the game.

Jones threw the ball late to running back Dion Lewis, who was initially open, allowing Tampa Bay defensive back Antoine Winfield Jr. to recover and break up the pass to seal the victory for the Buccaneers.

The Bucs move to 6-2 and are atop the NFC South, while the Giants remain in last place in the NFC East with a 1-7 record.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and his offense scored 12 unanswered points to defeat the New York Giants 22-21 on Thursday night.

After the Giants second-year quarterback Daniel Jones led an impressive 97-yard touchdown drive to go up 21-10 with slightly over six minutes left to play, the Giants looked to be on their way to their second straight victory.

But as the old saying goes, bad teams find ways to lose. And that’s exactly what the Giants did. The Giants have up a quick touchdown soon after.

When the Giants offense got back on the field, tight end Evan Engram dropped a perfect pass by Jones on 3rd and 7 that would have iced the game.

Instead, the Giants punted and gave Wentz a chance to get the win. Wentz answered with a 71-yard touchdown drive that gave the Eagles a one-point lead with just 40 seconds left in the game.

The Eagles defense then ended the game with a sack-fumble of Jones, who was once again let down by poor offensive line play, which has been the case with the Giants offense all season long.

The Eagles are now 2-4-1 while the Giants drop to 1-6.

It looks like New York Giants will have to turn to Eli Manning once again to finish the season. According to NFL Network, Giants’ starting quarterback Daniel Jones will be forced to sit out two to four weeks with a high-ankle sprain. This means that the rookie will most likely miss the remainder of the season.

With Jones out, Manning reclaimed the starting position he lost in Week 3. This will be a chance for the two times Super Bowl MVP to say a proper goodbye to fans before a likely retirement at the end of the season.

Manning was a starter at the beginning of 2019, but he had two bad performances, in which he threw for 556 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, causing him to lose his job to Daniel Jones. Giants selected Jones sixth overall in the most recent NFL draft, and decided he will give them a better chance of competing this season.

Jones had his own ups and downs, managing to complete 61.6 percent of his passes for 2,374 and 18 TDs. Giants were 2-8 with Jones as their QB.

Giants play Miami Dolphins at home in Week 15, before facing Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles to finish off the season.

It’s hard to believe that the National Football League is already three weeks into the season. While some teams are excelling, such as the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams, others, like the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos, are falling fast.

There were definitely some winners that came out of their third game of the season feeling happier than others. Here are our winners of Week 3.

Daniel Jones

The New York Giants made a bold move after two straight losses to start the season, benching veteran quarterback Eli Manning in favor of rookie Daniel Jones. And boy, did it pay off.

Jones had a sensational debut, leading the Giants to a comeback victory over the Bucs for their first win over the season. The rookie’s performance was historically good, as he became the first rookie quarterback in the Super Bowl era to throw for 300 yards and 2+ touchdowns along with 2+ rushing touchdowns in a game. Jones will look to continue his momentum and establish himself as a young star in the game as the season continues.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams didn’t put in their most dominant performance on Sunday night in Cleveland, but it was enough to get the win. And what a win it was.

The Browns were looking to capitalize on their status as one of the league’s most-hyped teams, but the Rams’ defense absolutely shut down their passing attack led by Baker Mayfield. They held the Browns to only 270 total yards and did enough on offense to move to 3-0, which gives them a 2-game lead in the NFC West. The division is a tough one, with the 49ers and Seahawks both threatening, but the Rams are still a clear favorite after their big win.

New Orleans Saints

No Drew Brees? No problem for the Saints in their Week 3 win at the previously-undefeated Seahawks.

Teddy Bridgewater showed that he is a more-than-capable backup to take over for Brees during his injury absence in the team’s 33-27 shootout win in the rain at CenturyLink Field. Bridgewater threw for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns, showing that he’ll be a steady hand to guide the team until their veteran superstar can return.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs-Ravens matchup on Sunday afternoon was the league’s premier game of the weekend, and Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs came out on top with a tight 33-28 win.

Their win cements the Chiefs as the commanding leaders in the AFC West, as they hold a 2-game lead over the rest of the division. Patrick Mahomes has shown no signs of slowing down after his 2018 MVP season, a development that has Chiefs fans dreaming big. Could they take down Tom Brady and the Patriots to win the AFC? It certainly seems possible.
