Portugal and Al Nassr star forward Cristiano Ronaldo continues to add more records to his already impressive resume. By starring in Portugal’s 4-0 win over Liechtenstein in UEFA EURO qualifiers, Ronaldo broke the record for most international appearances.

Liechtenstein game was Ronaldo’s 197th on a senior international level, which is one more than the previous record holder, Kuwait’s Bader Al-Mutawa, has. Ronaldo also scored two goals to commemorate his record-breaking appearance.

Ronaldo tied Al-Mutawa’s record during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but didn’t have a chance to break it as Portugal got knocked out in the quarterfinals. This was followed by doubts about his future on the team as his relationship with head coach Fernando Santos turned sour. Ronaldo was left on the bench in both matches of the knockout stage as Santos favored younger players.

Everything changed once Portugal’s Football Federation fired Santos and installed former Belgium boss Roberto Martinez as his replacement. Martinez made it clear that he still wanted Ronaldo on his team from the get-go, and even had him starting the game against Liechtenstein.

Ronaldo also holds the record for most goals scored on the international level. He surpassed Iranian Ali Dei’s 109 goals back in 2021 and currently has 120 goals in international tournaments and friendlies.

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has just added another record to his already historic resume. With a hat-trick scored in a 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur, the 37-year-old got his career goal tally to 807 and became soccer’s all-time leading goal-scorer.

The top spot on the list was previously held by Austrian-Czech striker Josef Bican, who scored 805 goals in official matches between 1931 and 1955. Brazil legend Pele is often credited with being the most-prolific goal-scorer of all time with 1,279 goals, but his tally includes many unofficial games like youth appearances and friendly and exhibition matches.

Ronaldo struggled with form and injuries in recent matches, having scored just one goal in 2022 before the clash against the Spurs. However, he delivered when United needed him the most to keep their Top 4 finish hopes alive.

Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 12th minute, delivering a stunning flick following a great assist by Brazilian midfielder Fred.

After the Spurs grabbed an equalizer in the 35th minute via Harry Kane’s penalty kick, Ronaldo got the Man Utd in front again after just three minutes. Winger Jadon Sancho made a strong run on the left side and delivered a timely cross that Ronaldo capitalized on to set his goal-scoring record.

United’s captain Harry Maguire gifted the Spurs an equalizer in the 72nd minute through an own goal, but Ronaldo bailed out his team once again with a ruthless header.

This was Ronaldo’s 59th hat-trick of his career, and he has become the third-oldest player to register one in Premier League. He has 18 goals and two assists in 32 matches in all competitions for United this season.

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo continues to make his case for being the greatest player of all time.

Ronaldo scored both goals in Juventus’ recent 2-1 win over Lazio, which marked his 50th goals in Seria A. This means that the 35-year-old forward is now the only player in the history of the game to score 50 goals in English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, and Italian Seria A.

He now has 30 goals for the season, enough to equalize himself at the top of Serie A’s leading goalscorers for 2019/20 with Lazio’s Ciro Immobile.

“Records are always important, but what matters is the team,” Ronaldo said after the game. “We are doing phenomenal work, and the important thing is to end like this, to win—the records come from a natural process, but what matters is to bring home the league title.”

Ronaldo scored 65 goals in all competitions since joining Juventus in 2018.  He recently became the first Juventus player since 1959/60 to score 26 goals or more in a single Serie A campaign.

Juve’s win against Lazio was their first in four games and helped the team to increase their lead at the top of Seria A table. They now have eight more than second-placed Inter Milan with four games left to be played.
