The Los Angeles Lakers came up with a huge 120-109 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night. This was largely thanks to their star center Anthony Davis, who finished the game with a stat line never seen before in NBA history.

Davis had a monster game that saw him score 27 points while adding 25 rebounds, five assists, seven steals, and three blocks. Not a single NBA player managed to have 25+ points, 25+ boards,  5+ assists, and 5+ steals in a single game before Davis.

After the game, Davis was much more interested in talking about the Lakers surging form than his historic achievement.

“I think we’re hitting our stride right now,” Davis said via ESPN. “We’re just trying to keep going, keep pushing, knowing that just like last year, all we got to do is get in. We feel like it’s tough for anybody to beat us in a seven-game series.”

Davis is producing at a high level in 2023-24 while avoiding health issues that plagued him in recent years. He already played in 62 games, most since 2019-20, while averaging 24.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.

The Lakers, who won three out of their last four games, are currently sitting at No. 9 in the Western Conference with a 36-30 record. The LA team is currently two games out of sixth place, which comes with an automatic playoff spot.

The Los Angeles Lakers have locked their superstar forward Anthony Davis to a new long-term extension. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Davis inked a deal that will keep him with the franchise through the 2027-28 NBA season.

Davis previously had two years and $84 million left on his previous deal he signed back in 2020. The extension now adds three more years and $186 million to his contract. The $62 million average annual value of the extension is the highest in the history of the league.

The Lakers are yet to officially announce the extension, but Davis’ agent, Rich Paul, confirmed the news to Wojnarowski on Friday.

Davis dealt with injuries in 2022-23, being limited to 56 games in the regular season. But he was the Lakers’ best player when on the court, averaging 25.9 points and a career-high 12.5 rebounds per game. He also played a big part in the team’s run to Western Conference Finals, averaging 22.6 points, 14.1 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks in the postseason.

Anthony Davis joined the Lakers in 2019 in a blockbuster trade from the New Orleans Pelicans. He helped the franchise win an NBA championship alongside fellow superstar LeBron James in his first season in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Lakers are managing to keep their head above water as they wait for their star LeBron James to return to action. The LA team grabbed an important 116-111 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night, improving to a 37-37 record and being .500 for the first time this season.

The Lakers saw a big night from Anthony Davis against the OKC, with the big man delivering one of his best performances in 2022-23. Davis finished the night with 37 points and 15 rebounds while being 15-21 from the field. Guards Dennis Schroder and Lonnie Walker added 21 points and 20 points, respectively.

The Lakers have now won seven out of their last 10 games and find themselves in a much better position than they were ahead of the NBA trade deadline. They are currently sitting at No.8 in the West, tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves at No.7. They trail the sixth-seeded Golden State Warriors by 1.5 games.

“We just have to approach these last eight games like we’ve been doing since the deadline,” said Lakers coach Darvin Ham after the OKC game. “Each game is its own entity. We just have to approach each game and pour all of ourselves into each particular game. We’ll continue to carry on as such. Now instead of constantly facing a deficit, we get to create a surplus.”

The Thunder, on the other hand, missed an opportunity to solidify their Play-In chances. They are at No. 10 but have the Dallas Mavericks and the Utah Jazz breathing down their neck.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been actually winning games lately, going 8-2 in their last 10 games. They have their superstar Anthony Davis to thank for this, as “The Brow” has been playing some of his best basketball down that stretch. This included scoring 55 points and 17 rebounds in a 130-119 win over the Washington Wizards on Sunday.

Davis struggled with injuries to start the season, but he now looks healthy and ready to help the Lakers, who started 2022-23 with a 2-10 record, climb the West Conference Standings. He has been averaging 35.3 points, 15.6 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks a night in the past nine games and propelled himself if the MVP conversation.

During the Wizards game, which was in Washington’s Capital One arena, Davis was showered with MVP chants on several occasions.

His Lakers’ teammates are also stepping up to aid his MVP campaign, including fellow superstar LeBron James.

“He’s been unbelievable, man,” said James said. “On both sides of the floor. I mean, playing like the MVP of this league. Just straight dominance.”

Although there is still a lot of basketball left to be played, Anthony Davis might be putting together his best regular season as a pro. He is currently averaging career highs in points (28.6), rebounds (12.8), and field goal percentage (59.0). On top of that, he is also getting consideration for Defensive Player of the Year honors.

The Los Angeles Lakers just can’t catch a break. After it recently seemed they put their injury woes behind, the Lakers once again saw one of their key players go down. This time it’s Anthony Davis, who will miss several weeks after suffering an ankle injury in a 106-101 win against the Utah Jazz.

Davis got hurt in the second quarter when he was trying to coral lob pass from Malik Monk. The 28-year-old superstar jumped to get the ball and landed on the foot of Jazz’s center Rudy Gobert. Davis’ ankle rolled, and he went down on the floor in pain before heading to the locker room.

The Lakers later announced that Davis underwent X-rays shortly after, with the test coming back negative. However, an MRI scan on Thursday showed a mid-foot sprain that will sideline the All-Star big man for at least four weeks.

Davis already missed time in the 2021-22 NBA season, suffering a sprain MCL in his knee and sitting out 17 games. He is currently averaging 23.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game.

The only positive for the Lakers is that they are looking at a lengthy period without games. With the All-Star break coming soon, the Lakers won’t see the floor until February 25th, when they are scheduled to play crosstown rivals Los Angeles Clippers.

The win against the Jazz snapped a three-game losing streak for the Lakers. They are currently sitting at no. 9 in Western Conference with a 27-31 record.

Things are not going well for the Los Angeles Lakers these days. After losing several players to health and safety protocols, the Lakers now learned that they will be without their superstar Anthony Davis for an extended period.

The team announced over the weekend that Davis is dealing with a left knee MCL sprain. The 28-year-old will miss at least four weeks after which he’ll be reevaluated.

Davis got hurt in the Lakers’ 110-92 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves last Friday. The injury occurred in the third quarter after Minnesota’s Jaden McDaniels lost his balance and hit his left knee. The All-Star had trouble getting off the court by himself and at one point collapsed on the floor.

Speaking with reporters on Sunday, Davis said that he initially feared it was a major injury that could jeopardize his season. But to his relief, the MRI showed that it’s just a sprain and there is no structural damage to his knee.

“The locker room keeps me in a good place,” he added. “People around me outside of basketball keep me in a good place. Great conversation with my wife about it; she’s the one who keeps me in a good place, for real.”

Davis has had a sneaky good 2021-22, averaging 23.3 points, 9.9 board, 2.9 assists and 2.0 blocks per game.

Absence of Davis further added to Lakers’ woes with player availability in recent weeks. The team is currently down Avery Bradley, Dwight Howard, Malik Monk, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Austin Reaves due to COVID-19 protocols while Kendrick Nunn is still out because of an offseason injury.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis repeatedly said he doesn’t like playing the center position. But it seems that Davis is also more interested in winning, which is why he reportedly accepted to play at the five in the 2021-22 season.

According to the recent report by the Athletic, Davis “has emerged as the expected starting center” for the Lakers moving forward. The 28-year-old big man became more open to the adjustment after the franchise pulled off a blockbuster trade that landed 2017’s NBA MVP Russell Westbrook.

This would be great news for the Lakers, as they played their best basketball with Davis at the center in previous seasons. Also, it would clear the way for a starting lineup of Davis, Westbrook, LeBron James, Wayne Ellington, and Trevor Ariza, which is viewed as their best considering the current personnel.

In this starting five, the Lakers would have a stretch big who is both equipped with a solid three-point shot and dominant enough to get points in the paint. They would also have just one below-average three-point shooter in Westbrook as opposed to lineups that would feature Davis at power forward and DeAndre Jordan or Dwight Howard at the center.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was asked about his starting five in 2021-22 multiple times but reiterated that he will make this decision during training camp.

“The honest answer is that we don’t know yet,” Vogel said of his starting lineup. “We’re gonna watch these guys play together in camp, measure the pros and cons of certain lineups, and find a lineup that we think is going to help us get off to a strong start.”

The Los Angeles Lakers’ seven-game winning streak came to an end on Sunday with a 122-105 loss to the Denver Nuggets.  A big part of the Lakers’ defeat was the absence of All-Star center Anthony Davis, who was forced to exit the game in the first half due to an injury.

Davis was listed as questionable before the Nuggets game after feeling discomfort in his right leg and missing two games last week. Despite this, he ended up being featured in the starting lineup and played really well before a foul from Denver’s Nikola Jokic sent him to the locker room.

Jokic had tried to stop a Davis drive towards the basket and ended up hitting him in the quad with his knee. This caused the Lakers’ superstar to start limping, and he was forced to leave the contest after taking a pair of free-throws.

Before his exit, Davis had 15 points and four rebounds in just 14 minutes of play.

The Lakers confirmed after the game that Davis is set for an MRI, which should show the extent of the injury and give the team a better outlook on the player’s potential absence.

Davis, who is averaging 22.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season so far, is hoping for good news and believes this could be just a minor setback.

“I don’t want to go out there and try to play and risk it for the long term,” said Davis. “So, all that is inclusive of what the MRI shows tomorrow. Knock on wood, it’s great information—and I’ll be out there sooner than later.”

Anthony Davis was the hero of the night as the Los Angeles Lakers secured a hard-fought 105-103 win over Denver Nuggets on Sunday night. Davis hit a buzzer-beater three-pointer that gave the Lakers a 2-0 lead in the series and got them one step closer to booking their place in the NBA Finals.

Carried by LeBron James’ 20 points in the first two quarters, it looked like the Lakers are on the route to another easy win entering the second half. They had a 10-point lead and all the momentum. However, as many times before in these playoffs, the Nuggets went to work and mounted a comeback.

Nuggets’ two-man game between Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray was on point once again, and the pair managed to turn the deficit, which was 16 points at one moment, into a 103-102 lead with 20.8 seconds remaining on the clock.

Lakers had the ball in their hands for one final attack, but couldn’t work out a play. Danny Green had a good look from midrange, but Murray came out of nowhere and knocked the ball out of bounds. It seemed like Denver will deservingly equal the series since there were just 2.1 seconds left on the clock.

Then Davis showed up.

Rajon Rondo inbounded the ball and got the ball to Davis, who was cutting to the left sideline after freeing himself of Mason Plumlee. Davis managed to get his feet set and release the shot over Jokic’s outstretched arm in time, draining a buzzer-beating three-pointer.

“People talking about me never being in this moment, pressure, am I ready for it?” said Davis after the game. “I want to take those shots. As part of the legacy, I want those shots, I want the big-time plays. We’re going to live with me or die with me shooting game-winning shots, and I made it. This is what they brought me here for.”

Anthony Davis was the best player on the court, finishing with 31 points and nine rebounds while LeBron James added 26 points, 11 rebounds and four assists for the Lakers.

Nikola Jokic finished the night with 30 points and nine assists, while Jamal Murray had 25 points for the Nuggets.

Los Angeles Lakers welcomed Toronto Raptors on Sunday night and witnessed their seven-games winning record coming to an end. However, the bigger issue for the Lakers was that their superstar Anthony Davis aggravated his shoulder injury.

Davis had to exit the game against the Raptors in the third quarter, experiencing shoulder issues after he blocked Pascal Siakam’s shot. He ended up returning later in the game and finished the night with 27 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks.

Lakers’ head coach Frank Vogel told reporters after the game that Davis will be fine, with the 26-year-old forward confirming he won’t be missing any time. However, he did tell the reporters that the initial shoulder injury, which he suffered two weeks ago, left him having to play through pain.

“There’s really never a play I don’t feel it.” – Davis told reporters on Sunday night. “But I’m going to go out there and play, I try not to let it affect my game. I just play through it and then worry about taking care of it after the game.”

Lakers have been on a great run before the loss against Toronto, and much of that was thanks to Anthony Davis. Davis, who came to LA in the summer via trade with New Orleans Pelicans, has been considered an early MVP candidate. He is currently averaging 26.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game so far in the season.
