It didn’t take long for one of the biggest offseason dominoes in the form of Pelicans forward Anthony Davis to fall in the NBA.

ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on Sunday that Davis would head to Tinseltown to join the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and a package of picks including the #4 overall pick in this week’s NBA Draft.

The 6’10” big man will team up with LeBron James with the Lakers and be part of one of the most fascinating duos in NBA history.

Davis is one of the most talented and dominant players in the NBA. Los Angeles undoubtedly has become a contender just by acquiring the big man, who averaged 25.9 points and 12 rebounds per game with New Orleans last season.

The former #1 overall pick, now 26 years old, is a six-time NBA All-Star and a three-time All NBA first team selection. He dominates both offensively and on defense, as he led the NBA in blocks in the 2018 season.

The Lakers’ acquisition of Davis certainly didn’t come cheap, as they’ll offload three players and a package of three first-round picks for him.

Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram lead the package of players that the Pelicans will acquire from LA when the deal is official. Ball has averaged 10 points, 6.4 assists, and 6.2 rebounds per game in his two NBA seasons and established himself as one of the best defensive guards in the league. Ingram had a breakout 2018, scoring 18.3 points per game and establishing himself as a bonafide scoring threat.

This a huge deal that will alter the NBA’s landscape, making the Lakers one of next year’s championship favorites and sending a drool-worthy package of assets down to New Orleans.

After Anthony Davis reiterated his trade demand last week, New Orleans Pelicans decided to officially start taking offers for the All-Star center. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the two teams that have already sent offers for Anthony Davis are Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.

Lakers’ first offer reportedly includes point guard Lonzo Ball, forward Brandon Ingram and No.4 pick in the upcoming 2019 NBA Draft. While Los Angeles might include talented forward Kyle Kuzma in the deal as well, the team would prefer to keep onto him and include other assets.

Pelicans are believed to be intrigued by the offer but would like to try and include a third team which would allow them to flip the fourth overall pick for a veteran player.

Celtics, on the other side, are trying to push a picks-heavy package which would also include forward Jaylen Brown. There is no indication whether the team might consider parting with highly-touted forward Jason Tatum in the deal.

Boston finds themselves in a difficult situation as Anthony Davis, who will become a free agent next summer, previously indicated that he would not re-sign with the Celtics if traded there. Celtics could still make a deal despite this, as acquiring Davis would help them to keep pending free agent Kyrie Irving, who is reportedly already considering a change of scenery.

Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers are also interested in getting Davis, but they weren’t able to present an enticing package to New Orleans.

The Davis trade saga might be over in the coming days, as Pelicans’ executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin is keen on parting with the player before 2019 NBA Draft on June 20th.

Brooklyn Nets are joining the list of NBA teams who will send an offer to New Orleans Pelicans for All-Star forward Anthony Davis. According to Fox Sports 1’s NBA analysts Chris Broussard, the Nets are hoping to pair Davis with Kyrie Irving, whom they will try to sign as a free agent.

Broussard reports that Nets’ offer for Davis could center on D’Angelo Russell and Jarrett Allen alongside several draft-picks and possibly another talented young players.

Since Davis will be an unrestricted free agent in 2020, Brooklyn would make a big gamble trading for the 26-year-old as it remains unclear whether he is interested in staying with the Nets long term. This is why any trade would hinge on the Nets’ ability to land Irving or another superstar free agent, which would give them a better chance to convince Davis in staying.

Anthony Davis requested a trade from Pelicans back in February, with Los Angeles Lakers emerging as the front favorite to land him. Still, New Orleans decided to reject their offer and wait for the summer, when they could potentially get a better offer. Lakers are expected to aggressively pursue a trade for Davis once again, but Boston Celtics and New York Knicks are rumored to be in the mix as well.

Davis played 56 games with the Pelicans in the regular season, averaging 25.9 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.4 blocks per game.

After Anthony Davis requested a trade away from the New Orleans Pelicans last month, the team’s front office did their best to send him away to another team.

However, after the NBA trade deadline passed at midnight on Thursday night, reality sunk in. The Pelicans were unable to find an adequate offer for the superstar, and they will have to wait until the offseason to deal Davis.

Anthony Davis requested a trade away from New Orleans after his frustration with the franchise began to mount after another losing season. One of the top stars in the NBA, Davis wanted to move on to a team in which he could compete for championships.

After extended negotiations and discussions with teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, and others, it became clear that it wouldn’t be possible to trade Davis at this time.

This puts both the Pelicans franchise and Davis in an awkward position. Davis has said that he will continue to play for the Pelicans this season, despite his trade request. In addition, New Orleans has said that they will allow him to play for them through the end of this season.

However, this unpalatable situation, both for the franchise and for the player, isn’t what anyone imagined after Davis made his trade request in January.

Anthony Davis must stay in New Orleans until at least the end of this NBA season. If he gets his wish, however, the team will find a way to deal him elsewhere this summer. Until then, the franchise and player will have to endure an uncomfortable marriage that couldn’t end soon enough.

Los Angeles Lakers are slowing down their pursuit for New Orleans Pelicans’ All-Star forward Anthony Davis. According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers are done with making offers to Pelicans for the 25-year-old, and won’t re-engage in trade talks until New Orleans makes a counter-offer.

Ever since Anthony Davis asked for a trade a week ago, Lakers have been in the talks with Pelicans about a possible deal. Los Angeles kept making offers, increasing the number of assets they are willing to give up, but New Orleans never came back with a counter-offer.

Sources report that this is the reason why Lakers’ front office, including president of basketball operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka, felt like they started bidding against themselves and decided to stop making propositions until Pelicans’ GM Dell Demps shows some level of engagement.

The last offer that LA Lakers sent reportedly included all of team’s young stars Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, and Ivica Zubac alongside two unprotected draft picks and salary cap relief. While this checked all the marks of the perfect trade scenario for NO Pelicans, the team is looking to get more draft capital.

Anthony Davis’ agent recently presented the Pelicans’ a list of teams that Anthony Davis would be willing to go to, which included New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks besides the Lakers. Interesting thing was that the list didn’t include Boston Celtics, who are the team that can make the best offer.

Despite making a highly publicized trade request earlier this week, New Orleans Pelicans’ All-Star forward Anthony Davis isn’t hiding from the media. He decided to speak with reporters on Friday and offered them some insight into his intention to leave the organization.

“I feel like it’s my time,” – said Davis when asked why does he wants to be traded. “I gave the city, organization, fans everything I feel like I could. I don’t know how long I’m gonna play this game. People’s careers are short. And I feel like it’s my time to move on.”

Davis added that he feels he is playing at the elite level at the moment and said that he wants to take advantage of that.

The 25-year-old superstar also rejected the notion that he only wants to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, saying that neither he nor his manager gave the Pelicans any preferred destination.

Anthony Davis hasn’t played since mid-January when he injured his thumb in the game against the Portland Trail Blazers. After his trade request was made public, it was reported that Davis won’t play with New Orleans again, but the player himself rejected that possibility on several occasions and stated that he intends to play once he recovers.

Teams already started calling New Orleans Pelicans’ general manager New Orleans Pelicans’ general manager Dell Demps to find out their asking price for Davis, but it seems like the organization is set on playing the waiting game. According to multiple media reports, Demps prefers to wait until the summer to extract the maximum value and isn’t looking into the possibility to trade his star player before the Thursday’s trade deadline.

Things don’t look great for the New Orleans Pelicans this season. After managing to advance to the second round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs, it looked like the Pelicans are ready to make a step forward and be even more dangerous team. Instead, they find themselves on 14th spot in the Western Conference with a 17-22 record, while having lost seven games in their last nine. According to the team’s star player Anthony Davis, these kinds of struggles are not sitting well with anyone at the organization.

“We’re a better team than our record shows. Everyone is frustrated. Players, coaches, front office. We’ve just got to do better,” – Davis told reporters after 126-121 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

While Davis had another monster game against Brooklyn, in which he had 34 points and career-high 26 rebounds, Pelicans didn’t manage to find a way to slow down their opponents’ offense which scored 73 points in the first half alone.

“We wasn’t playing no defense,” – the 25-year-old All-Star added. “The whole first half, they did whatever they wanted. They didn’t feel us on the defensive end. We wasn’t physical, wasn’t talking. They got a lot of layups, a lot of open 3s. They shot the ball extremely well in the first half due to our lazy defense.”

Besides playing poor defense lately, New Orleans had other things going against them in the past weeks. Their starting point guard Elfrid Payton missed 30 games due to injuries, while Nikola Mirotic didn’t play in the last 10 for the same reason. With Payton and Mirotic back in the lineup, the Pelicans might wake up and start winning some games.

Most people think that LeBron James is still the best basketball player in the world, while some would put in Kevin Durant in that conversation as well. But New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis has a different opinion. According to the 25-year-old All-Star, he is currently “the best player in the game.”

In my eyes, I am the best player in the game. I really feel that way and nobody can tell me different,” – says Davis in a video that was recently posted on the Pelicans’ official Twitter.

While some people went on to call this statement “ridiculous,” there is no doubt that Anthony Davis has the potential to become the best one day. Davis entered the NBA in 2012 and managed to wow people with some phenomenal performances since then, earning five consecutive All-Star appearances since 2015 and being selected as NBA All-Star Game MVP in 2017. Davis also has three All-NBA First Team honors and has led the league in blocks three times.

While he was consistent in his performance through the better part of his professional career, Anthony Davis played his best basketball last season. He averaged 28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 2.6 blocks while carrying his Pelicans to the second round of Western Conference playoffs.

Since Davis is yet to reach his prime, it is hard not to get excited about his future potential. So, even if he isn’t the best player in the game at the moment, it shouldn’t be too long until he really becomes that.
