While waiting for a call from NFL teams, veteran running backs Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell decided to pass time with boxing. The duo just agreed to a boxing match that will see them face in the ring on July 30.

The fight, which is reportedly characterized as an exhibition, will take place at the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles. It will mark the first boxing experience for both Peterson and Bell.

Peterson himself confirmed the news to Darren M. Haynes of WUSA9.

Peterson and Bell fight will serve as an undercard for the fight between YouTubers Austin McBroom and AnEsonGib. Former NBA guard Nick Young and rapper Blueface will meet in the second bout of the undercard.

Adrian Peterson is considered one of the best running backs in the history of the league. He played his best football with the Minnesota Vikings, where he became the only non-QB in the past decade to win the MVP award. Peterson played four games in 2021, suiting up for the Tennessee Titans and the Seattle Seahawks. He rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns combined.

On the other hand, Le’Veon Bell has spent the past season with the Baltimore Ravens and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He rushed for 101 yards and two TDs in eight games. Bell was previously an All-Pro player while with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tenessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has become only the eighth player in NFL history to finish the season with more than 2,000 rushing yards.

Henry came into the game needing 223 rushing yards to reach 2,000, an almost insurmountable goal for most backs in the league. But not for Henry, who had rushed for more than 200 yards four times in his career even before Sunday’s game.

The Pro Bowl running back finished the game with 250 rushing yards, leading the Titans to a 41-38 win over the Houston Texans and securing the AFC South title for Tennessee for the first time since 2008.

The first player to break 2,000 rushing yards was Buffalo Bills legend O.J. Simpson, who did it in 1973. The last player to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season was Adrian Peterson, who rushed for 2,097 yards in 2012 with the Minnesota Vikings.

Henry finishes the season with 2,027 yards and will look to continue his dominant play in the playoffs. With Henry leading the offense, the Titans were able to shock the NFL in the 2019 postseason, beating the favored New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens to reach the AFC Championship.

Henry has become the face of the franchise and was awarded for his spectacular play this year with a lucrative four-year, $50 million contract.

The Detroit Lions announced the signing of the NFL’s fifth all-time leading rusher on Monday, as they revealed that they had inked Adrian Peterson to a one-year deal.

Peterson’s deal with the Lions is reportedly worth $1.05 million in base salary, with variables and bonuses that could push its value even higher.

The long-time Minnesota Viking and division rival of the Lions spent the past two seasons with the Washington Football Team but was released last week in favor of younger backs.

Peterson got back on track during 2018 and 2019 with Washington after two injury-riddled and inconsistent seasons saw his stock drop in the league. He rushed for 1,940 yards and 12 touchdowns over the past two seasons, starting all but one game.

His career has been one of the most storied in history for a running back, as he has collected an NFL MVP Award, 7 Pro Bowl appearances, and 4 First-Team All Pro mentions.

The Oklahoma alum will have the opportunity to keep moving towards the top of the all-time rushing list with the Lions, a team which has promised him plenty of playing time in 2020.

The 35-year-old back is expected to begin training with the Lions this week and could make his debut for them on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Despite turning 35 in March, veteran running back Adrian Peterson still isn’t thinking about walking away from football. Instead, Peterson is hoping he’ll still be playing when 2023 NFL season comes around.

Speaking with TMZ Sports about his future on Wednesday, Peterson said that he would like to play for “four more years” before calling it quits.

“I don’t want to ever be in a position where I look back and say, ‘Man, I should have played two more years,'” said Peterson. “‘I should have played another year.’ I want to enjoy it. I’m still chasing a championship. You know, I still can play the game at a high level. For those reasons, and having that love and passion for the game, I’m going to continue to keep the ball rolling.”

This plan might sound outrageous to some, considering that running backs usually don’t tend to have such long careers. However, Peterson has every right to believe he could pull it off, especially since he’s coming off two productive seasons in which he rushed for 1,940 yards combined.

While he says he loves the game, Adrian Peterson’s desire to prolong his NFL career probably also has a lot to do with his attempt to move up on the all-time rushing list. Peterson is currently sitting fifth with 14,216 career rushing yards and, with a couple of productive seasons, could reach Walter Payton (16,726 yards) on the second spot. Getting to No.1, however, seems like an impossible task as the all-time leader Dallas Cowboys’ legend Emmitt Smith rushed for spectacular 18,355 yards during his career.

Adrian Peterson made history once again in Minnesota, although this time it was from the visiting team’s side. Peterson moved into 6th on the all-time rushing yards list in Washington’s 19-9 loss to Minnesota.

With 76 yards, the Redskins running back passed both Jerome Bettis and LaDainian Tomlinson on the same night. His career total now sits at 13,701 after passing both legendary Hall of Fame running backs.

Peterson is one of the most loved Vikings players of all time, and after his 10 years in Minnesota, he said he still feels so comfortable there that he caught himself whistling the Viking’s “Skol” chant a couple of times during Washington’s loss.

It was only Peterson’s 2nd game back in Minneapolis, and the fans let him know that he is still loved by giving him a standing ovation during the final 2-minute warning. “It was a special moment. I had to hold back tears, to be honest with you,” Peterson said after the game.

Next up for Peterson on the all-time list is New York Jets great Curtis Martin, who finished his incredible career with 14,101 yards. Peterson is only 401 yards away from passing him, and at his current pace has a good chance of catching up to Martin before the end of the season.

In 2018, Washington Redskins’ running back Adrian Peterson proved the doubters wrong by rushing for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns at the age of 33. Now, at 34, he aims for an even more impressive season in 2019, setting a goal to rush for 2,000 yards.

“If God’s willing, I can duplicate that and do it even better,” – Peterson told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Tuesday. “I got my mark set at 2,000 (yards), I’ve always had it at that mark since I stepped into the league. So that’s where it’s at. But most importantly, I just want to contribute to the team and help this team win a championship.”

History is definitely against Peterson when it comes to his goal to rush for 2,000 yards as no NFL player aged 34 or more even came close to that. The closest one so far was another Redskins’ great John Riggins, who rushed for 1,347 yards in 1983.

Adrian Peterson added that his career goals didn’t change over the years, despite all the challenges he faced.

“No adjustments at all,”- he explained. “In order to accomplish great things, you have to set your bar high, so that’s what I’ve always done with my career and it has allowed me to be successful for going on 13 years.”

After an impressive showing last season, Redskins decided to give Peterson a two-year, $8 million contract which will keep him in Washington through 2020.

Last year it appeared that Adrian Peterson’s time in the NFL has come to an end. He spent the entire 2018 offseason unsigned and was picked up by Washington Redskins after the team struggled with injuries of their running backs. But now it seems like Peterson will stick around a bit more since Redskins just gave him a two-year, $8 million contract despite him turning 34 on March 21. The news was first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport

Despite his accomplished career, Peterson found a lack of suitors last year after he was released by Arizona Cardinals. He struggled with consistency and injuries in 2016 and 2017 which, combined with his advanced age for a running back, scared away lots of teams. Despite this, Peterson waited for the right fit and that came with Redskins who offered him a minimum, one-year deal.

Peterson decided to gamble on himself, choosing to get less money and play more rather than to be paid more and play less, and this turned out to be the right move. He ended up having a standout 2018 season, rushing for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns. He also added 20 receptions for 208 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Adrian Peterson spent the majority of his NFL career with Minnesota Vikings, where he played from 2007 to 2016. He also had stints with New Orleans Saints and Cardinals. Peterson’s career highlights include NFL MVP in 2012, seven Pro Bowl appearances and four First-team All-Pro honors.

Since we’re halfway through this year’s regular season, you would expect that there aren’t many things left to learn about NFL teams. Well, Week 8 of the 2018 NFL Season showed us just the opposite.

For example, Houston Texans, who were 0-3 to start the season, are now on a five- games winning streak and look like they could secure a playoff spot in a really tough division. It’s the same with the Seattle Seahawks, who flipped the switch after a rough start and are now playing some of the best football in the league.

Let’s check out what else Week 8 of 2018 NFL Season has shown us.

FitzMagic is Back

Tampa Bay Buccaneers remain to be indecisive about who should be their starting quarterback, but that isn’t a bad thing for casual NFL fans. Bucs inserted Ryan Fitzpatrick in the second half of the game against Cincinnati Bengals, and he almost led them to an epic comeback win. He will be their starter this Sunday as well, so get ready for FitzMagic.

New Orleans Saints is the Best Team in NFL

“But what about the LA Rams?” – most of you will ask. Well, to be honest, although Rams are 8-0 they didn’t look like the best team in NFL for some time now. Their last few games came down to the wire, and they dodged a bullet against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday thanks to Ty Montgomery’s unfortunate fumble.

New Orleans Saints, on the other hand, are not only getting wins but are also destroying their opponents. And those were not wins against weak teams like San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos or Arizona Cardinals, which Rams pulled off. Saints have taken down Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings, and did all of that away from home. So, yes. Saints are the best team in NFL at the moment.

Cleveland Browns are a Mess

Ok, it wasn’t something we didn’t know before, but Cleveland Browns are in such a mess that it should be repeated on a daily basis. While the start of the season looked good for the Browns, everything went downhill for them in the past couple of weeks which eventually got head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley to clash. Browns responded by firing them both, and now it looks like this will be another painful season for Cleveland fans.

Adrian Peterson Still Has “Juice” Left in Him

Before the season started, most people thought that Adrian Peterson’s career is pretty much done at this point, given the fact that there were not many running backs who managed to be efficient at the age of 33. NFL teams shied away from giving him a contract in 2018, and Peterson only managed to land a job after Washington Redskins lost two of their running backs to injuries. Fast forward to Week 8 of 2018 NFL Season and Peterson managed to rush for 149 yards and a touchdown against NY Giants. He now has 587 rushing yards and four touchdowns this year, proving his doubters that he still has some “juice” left in him to compete on the highest level.

After Adrian Peterson managed to clinch the starting running back spot with the Washington Redskins for Week 1 game against his former team Arizona Cardinals, he can focus on reaching one of his lifetime goals. Despite being 33-years-old and his production rapidly declining over the past few seasons, Peterson still has a goal to break Emmitt Smith’s all-time rushing record.

Who knows? I’ve seen crazier things happen,” – Peterson said during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “In my mind, that’s a goal I’d still like to reach. I know it would take a heckuva feat to do that, especially how the NFL treats older backs. God willing, I’m able to continue to change that view and have opportunities to come out and play.”

The chances of that happening, however, are far from realistic. Adrian Peterson is 6,079 yards short of Smith’s all-time record of 18,355 rushing yards, and it is hard to see him getting much closer to it while he is approaching the end of his NFL career. Peterson has played only one full season since 2013 and has rushed for more than 1,000 yards once in the past four years. But, let’s wait and see what happens this season.

After getting released by Cardinals, Adrian Peterson patiently waited for the right opportunity, and it came just two weeks ago when Redskins’ running back core was shredded to pieces with season-ending injuries. Peterson stepped in, and he will most likely carry the majority of the load for the entire season if he manages to find his old form. That might just happen since it seems like he is more motivated than ever.

I feel like anyone who’s doing anything, you always have some doubters who give up on you, and it motivates you to keep pressing forward. So that’s been part of my motivation,” – said Peterson in a recent interview.

We’ll have the opportunity to see whether the 2012 NFL MVP has something left in his tank on Sunday when Redskins open the season at Cardinals.

Despite turning 35 in March, veteran running back Adrian Peterson still isn’t thinking about walking away from football. Instead, Peterson is hoping he’ll still be playing when 2023 NFL season comes around.
