AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic made history during his team’s 3-1 loss to Udinese on Saturday by becoming the oldest goalscorer in Serie A history at 41 years and 166 days. He surpassed the previous record set by Alessandro Costacurta in 2007 by 141 days.

Udinese was eager to use their home-ground advantage to gain the edge over Milan, playing an aggressive, fast-flowing form of attacking football that resulted in Roberto Pereyra grabbing the opening goal in the ninth minute.

In first-half stoppage time, Milan got the opportunity to pull themselves back into the game when they were awarded a penalty following a handball inside the box. While Ibrahimovic missed the initial spot kick, the penalty was ordered to be retaken due to encroachment, with Ibrahimovic scoring the second time around.

Milan’s celebrations were short-lived, however, as Udinese restored their lead two minutes later when Beto scored six minutes into stoppage time. With both sides struggling to find the back of the net in the second half, it was ultimately Udinese who scored again in the 70th minute when an unmarked Kingsley Ehizibue tapped in a goal from close range.

Swedish star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will stay in Italy for at least one more year. AC Milan announced on Monday that Ibrahimovic inked a one-year extension with the team. The deal is reportedly worth around $8 million.

Ibrahimovic joined Milan midway through 2019/20, originally signing until the end of the season. However, the 38-year-old was impressive enough, scoring 11 goals in 20 matches, to warrant another year in Seria A.

“AC Milan is delighted to announce that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has renewed his contract with the club until June 30, 2021,” AC Milan said in a statement.

Ibrahimovic was linked with a move to native Sweden earlier this summer, with Hammarby, the club in which he has partial ownership, reportedly being among his preferred options. Still, it appears that the temptation of playing at the highest level was too good to turn down.

“We had a great last six months, but we haven’t won anything”, said Ibrahimovic to the club’s official website. “This year I’ve got the chance to be here from the start so we’ve got to continue like we were, working hard and sacrificing ourselves to reach our goals.”

This is the second stint for Zlatan Ibrahimovic with Milan, as he already played for the club between 2010 and 2012. During two seasons, he helped the club win the Seria A title and Supercoppa Italiana trophy while scoring 56 goals in 85 matches.

Ibrahimovic also spent time with Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and LA Galaxy, among other clubs.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic still doesn’t know where he’ll play next season. His contract with AC Milan expires in August, and the 38-year-old forward is unsure if he has a future at San Siro.

Ibrahimovic has been the main figure in Milan’s return to form in the second part of the season, scoring 4 goals and dishing 3 assists in the past six games. Two of those goals came in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win against Sassuolo, which helped his team get to the European League spot in Seria A.

Despite his fine form, however, Ibrahimovic hasn’t heard back from Milan’s brass about a potential contract extension.

“I still have three games, still 10 days, nobody said anything to me, and I don’t expect anything else,” said Ibrahimovic after Sassuolo game via Sky Sport Italia. “There are things that we cannot control, but that seem strange to me, but we are doing great things.”

Most earlier reports suggested that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave Milan after his contract expires and return to native Sweden. Ibrahimovic became a minority owner of the Allsvenskan side Hammarby in 2019, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he ends his career with the club.

Ibrahimovic joined Milan for his second stint in December, after previously playing two years in MLS with LA Galaxy. Since arriving in Italy, he played 17 games in all competitions, scoring a total of eight goals and contributing with four assists.

Swedish striker and former LA Galaxy star Zlatan Ibrahimovic might return home in order to finish his playing career. At least that’s the scenario Jesper Jansson, sporting director of Allsvenskan side Hammarby, hopes to see.

Back in 2019, Ibrahimovic bought 23.5 percent of Hammarby and remains invested in the club. He also used the recent Seria A suspension to work out with the club in order to maintain fitness. Jansson now believes that wearing Hammarby’s jersey might be the next step for the 38-year-old striker.

“Probably, I think so. But only Zlatan knows,” Jansson told Swedish media outlet Expressen when asked whether Ibrahimovic would be willing to play for Hammarby next season. “At the moment he hasn’t said anything about it, and I certainly don’t have to tell him that we want him here.”

Jansson also explained that he doesn’t expect former Sweden international to make the decision anytime soon, although the club “would like this idea very much.”

After seeing out his deal with Galaxy last year, Zlatan Ibrahimovic decided to return to Europe, signing a short-term deal with AC Milan. And although Ibrahimovic saw a successful start of his second stint with Italian giants, scoring four times in 10 games, there are doubts whether he will remain in the club past this season. Milan is currently rebuilding, and would reportedly like to turn to younger players as part of the process.

Ibrahimovic himself recently admitted that he isn’t sure whether he will stay in Italy, and said that he doesn’t rule out playing again in his native Sweden.

Despite leaving Manchester United more than a year ago, LA Galaxy’s star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic still closely follows his former club. As a matter of fact, he is so fond of Man Utd that he recently decided to offer them help in the wake of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez departures.

Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Ibrahimovic discussed his form in 2019 and said that he could still play in English Premier League at a high level even at the age of 37. He then jokingly sent a message to Manchester to contact him if they need some help on attack.

“I could play easily in the Premier League, so if United need me, I’m here,” – said Ibrahimovic. “But Galaxy has me, so I’m sorry.”

Ibrahimovic then reiterated that he is focused on Galaxy and making an impact in MLS.

“Nah, I did my job in Europe. I enjoyed it, I have 33 trophies that I brought with me here and hopefully, I can get something here,” – he added. “And then we will see where that adventure finishes.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is having another impressive MLS season in 2019, having scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 16 games played. His Galaxy is currently sitting at the fourth place in Western Conference with 13-3-11 record.

LA Galaxy’s striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic had an amazing first season in MLS, managing to score 22 goals and provide six assists in only 27 games he played in 2018. Now, the 37-year-old is ready to take things one step further.

Ibrahimovic recently made an appearance during the unveiling of Galaxy’s new kit and told reporters that he intends to “break every record in MLS” this season.

“This season I will bring something for you,” – said Ibrahimovic. “Because they say I’m old, I am looking to break every record in MLS this season.”

After 2018 season wrapped up, there was a lot of talks that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could leave LA Galaxy and return to Europe with Seria A giants Milan being among the interested teams. One of the reasons for this, besides his wish to compete at the highest level, was the fact that he has outplayed his $1.5 million contract.

Ibrahimovic was willing to stay in the United States but only if the club agreed to offer him a bigger salary. Galaxy ended up giving him the Designated Player money, hoping they will get back to being a contender once again.

“After one season in MLS, I know it more now, I know things better” – said Ibrahimovic in a recent interview with CNN. “And I’m excited, I look forward just to start playing again … because I like the MLS after playing one year there, and the first season was like what is waiting, what will happen, how is it, which level it is, and all these things. But now I have everything in my head, so now I just go out on the field and I dominate.”

It looks like Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s magic will live on in Los Angeles. Although he was linked with a return to Europe in the last couple of weeks, Ibra will now resign from the LA Galaxy as a Designated Player according to The Athletic. This won’t be the only deal Galaxy will pull off this week, since the team is expected to appoint Caleb Porter as their new head coach.

Although he signed a two-year deal with Galaxy in March 2018, Zlatan Ibrahimovic largely outplayed his $1.5 million a year contract, scoring 22 goals and providing 10 assists in 27 games. After the end of the 2018 season, Ibrahimovic asked for a raise and even considered joining Seria A powerhouse Milan if his demands are not met.

Los Angeles ended up giving Ibra Designated Player money, but are now facing with another tough decision. Since MLS teams can have only three DP players, Galaxy will have to move on from either Gio dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos, or Romain Alessandrini before the season starts.

After considering several high-profile names, LA Galaxy decided to turn to Caleb Porter as their next coach. Porter previously served as the coach of Portland Timbers from 2013 to 2017, winning one MLS Cup in the process. He and Timbers mutually parted ways following the end of the 2017 season.

Porter previously had offers from several MLS teams, including Orlando City SC, but decided to turn them down, waiting for the right opportunity.

Finishing the 2018 MLS season with 22 goals in 27 matches, Zlatan Ibrahimovic proved that LA Galaxy made the right move when they lured him to the United States from Manchester United. But, if Galaxy wants to keep Ibrahimovic in 2018, the club will have to make some effort.

During the end-of-season meetings, Ibrahimovic told reporters that there is an interest for his services from European clubs, but that his priority is Galaxy. The 37-year-old striker also said that he would stay in MLS if LA meets his “wishes and demands.”

I have some wishes and demands which [are] simple things,” – said Ibrahimovic. “There is interest in Europe, but my priority is Galaxy. They have wishes, I have wishes, but I’m optimistic, and I’m positive.

If I belong to Galaxy, I am a Galaxy player. If I belong to one club, I give my attention to one club, so I am here,” – he added.

It is believed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s “wishes and demands” include a bigger salary, considering the fact that he is only earning $1.5 million a year according to his current contract. However, if LA Galaxy wants to boost his pay, the team will have to say goodbye to one of their designated players; Giovani dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos or Romain Alessandrini.

The good news for Galaxy fans is that the team is already working on a new contract with Ibrahimovic, with president Chris Klein saying that the initial talks have been “promising.”

What he did this year is certainly well documented,” – said Klein. “He wants to win and we want to win with him. Hopefully, we can come to a resolution that is good for both sides.

Things aren’t exactly great for Los Angeles Galaxy at the start of 2018 MLS season. Although they have acquired Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the team has been struggling and only managed to win five games out of 13 played. The struggles continued on Wednesday night when Galaxy suffered a 2-3 defeat to FC Dallas.

Ibrahimovic, who came back from a suspension in the match against Dallas and scored two goals, didn’t shy away from his part of the responsibility for Galaxy’s poor form.

I don’t want to blame nobody,” – said the 36-year-old forward after the game. “I blame always myself when we are not winning. I’m one of many who has to do much more than what I am doing. So I keep working hard and keep pushing.

According to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the fact that they are losing games to inferior teams makes it harder for him and his teammates.

The thing is if we play against a team like Real Madrid or Barcelona and we lose, I will say, ‘Yeah, we did the hard work, we tried everything we did,’ but we’re not playing against those teams,” – said Ibrahimovic. “Because the quality [of the MLS opponents] is not so high, and they’re not better than us. Opposite, we’re better than them, but they’re winning the games, and that’s the difference.

How do you fix it? By winning the game, hopefully” – he added.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined LA Galaxy from Manchester United in March 2018, and immediately showed the impact he could have by scoring two goals in his debut. Ibrahimovic played 9 games in MLS and scored 5 goals in total.
