After Von Miller helped the Los Angeles Rams to a Super Bowl last season, the Buffalo Bills hoped the star linebacker could do the same for them in 2022. Unfortunately for the Bills, that won’t be the case, as Miller was ruled out for the rest of the campaign due after undergoing an ACL surgery.

Miller went down with a knee injury during Thanksgiving’s game vs. the Detroit Lions. It was initially believed that the 33-year-old plater would have a swift return on the field, but the injury turned out to be much worse than expected.

“Unfortunate situation, for Von, obviously, and our team. Care for him, obviously, like we would any player,” said Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott told reporters on Wednesday.

“If everything goes well during the rehab process, we think we’ll have Von Miller back for most of 2023,” Buffalo’s general manager Brandon Beane added.

This will be a tough blow for the Bills and their Super Bowl aspirations. Before going down with the injury, Miller started every game in 2022 and was arguably the team’s best defensive player. He tallied 8.0 sacks while adding 21 tackles, 12 QB hits, and one forced fumble.

The Bills now hope their young players will step up and fill the void left by Miller’s injury. The obvious candidates are the 2021 first-round pick Greg Rousseau and second-year defensive end Carlos Basham.

Buffalo is currently first in AFC East with a 9-3 record. Their next game will come against the division rivals New York Jets this upcoming Sunday.

It turns out that the Buffalo Bills’ slow start to free agency turned out to be a decoy. The team just landed free-agent linebacker Von Miller, who will join the organization on a reported six-year, $120 million deal.

Miller hit the free agency for the first time in his storied career and had multiple suitors after a Super Bowl run with the Los Angeles Rams last season. The Rams made a strong push to keep him in LA, but the Bills reportedly swooped in with a better offer and convinced the 32-year-old player to take his talents to Buffalo.

While some might consider it risky to give this amount of money to a veteran player, there is no doubt that Miller will make the Bills a better team. His contribution should be especially valuable in the pass rush department, considering that Buffalo struggled to get after the opposing quarterback consistently last season.

Von Miller started his NFL career with the Denver Broncos and spent more than 10 seasons with the organization. During that time, he won one Super Bowl ring, had eight Pro Bowl nods, and was an All-Pro player seven times.

Midway through the 2021 NFL season, the Broncos traded Miller to the Rams in exchange for draft compensation. Miller turned out to be a perfect fit in the Rams’ defensive scheme, contributing with five sacks in eight regular-season games. He added four more in the playoffs en route to the LA team’s Super Bowl triumph.

Miller is currently the leader in sacks among the active NFL players with 115.5. He also has 540 career tackles, 26 forced fumbles, and two defensive touchdowns.

The rich get richer. This might be the most fitting description for the Los Angeles Rams defense that now has eight-time Pro Bowler Von Miller on their side.

The Rams traded for Miller on Monday, sending two draft picks to the Denver Broncos in exchange. According to the team’s official announcement, the Broncos will get a second-rounder and a third-round selection in 2022 as part of the deal.

Denver will also pay $9 million of Miller’s remaining $9.7 million salary in order to help the Rams fit the veteran under their almost maxed-out salary cap.

After missing the entire 2020 campaign due to an ankle injury, Miller bounced back this year with a solid outing in the first seven weeks of the season. He made 4.5 sacks while adding 19 tackles and nine QB hits.

The Rams already have one of the most feared defenses in the league that stars three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald and star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. With Miller, the LA team adds another dimension to their pass rush while also taking some pressure off Donald, who was frequently double-teamed this season.

“He brings an element, obviously an incredibly unique football player that not only is a great pass-rusher, but he’s a complete football player that can really affect and influence an offense in a negative way on all three downs,” said Rams head coach Sean McVay via ESPN. “You can utilize him in a variety of different ways.”

Von Miller has established himself as one of the best linebackers of his generation since entering the league as the Broncos’ second overall pick in 2011. On top of his eight Pro Bowl nods, Miller earned seven All-Pro honors while also helping Denver win Super Bowl 50 and earning Super Bowl MVP award in the process.

Throughout his career, Miller racked up 110.5 sacks in Broncos’ uniform while adding 509 tackles, 225 QB hits, 26 forced fumbles, and one defensive touchdown.

Seeing their star linebacker Von Miller leave the Week 7 game against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday with an ankle injury brought up some bad memories for the Denver Broncos. Miller injured the same ankle at the start of the 2020 NFL season and missed the remainder of the season.

This time around, however, it appears that Miller managed to avoid spending any time on the sidelines. Speaking with reporters on Friday, the 32-year-old player revealed that the injury isn’t severe, and he believes he’ll be ready to play in Week 8.

“Right when it happened, right when it happened, I felt it, said a quick prayer,” Miller said via ESPN. “I didn’t want to put any pressure on it at first. They tested it in all directions, it was good. I asked them if I could run, they said no. But I feel like I dodged a bullet.”

Von Miller got hurt just before halftime and did not return to the game. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the decision was made out of precaution. The later tests showed there was no structural damage to the ankle, which is usually a good indicator that a player won’t miss much time.

Miller has been productive for Denver this season, totaling 4.5 sacks in the first six weeks. He also has 18 tackles and eight QB hits.

The Denver Broncos best defensive player, Von Miller, will not play in 2020.

According to reports, Miller will need season-ending surgery on his ankle after a “freak injury” that occurred during the last play of practice on Tuesday.

This is obviously a huge blow for Denver, who needs all of the help they can get this year if they want to compete in their division. The Broncos and Miller had a down year in 2019.

Even though he made the Pro Bowl for the sixth straight time in 2019, Miller only recorded eight sacks, which is the second-fewest he has recorded in his nine-year career.

As Miller goes, so does the Broncos defense. They ranked 13th in defensive efficiency in 2019 and were looking to bounce back this year with a healthy Bradley Chubb back on the roster.

Chubb, who plays linebacker on the opposite side of Miller, will now be relied on more heavily to produce pressure on opposing quarterbacks with the team’s best pass rusher gone for the year.

Miller, who is 31 years old, is still considered one of the best pass rushers in the league. He won Super Bowl MVP honors in 2016, becoming only the fourth linebacker in NFL history to win the award.
