Wideout Tyreek Hill’s recent unflattering comments about the Kansas City Chiefs were something his former teammate and quarterback Patrick Mahomes definitely didn’t see coming. Speaking with reporters earlier this week, Mahomes said that he was “surprised” by some things Hill said about him and the organization.

Hill, who was traded to the Miami Dolphins earlier in the offseason, opened up on his Kansas City exit in the first episode of his new It Needed To Be Said podcast. The Pro Bowler said that he felt underused by the Chiefs last season and that the team will struggle after his departure. Hill also indicated that he believes Dolphins’ third-year signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa is more accurate than Mahomes.

“I’m surprised a little just because I feel like we love Tyreek here,” Mahomes said when asked about the comments. “We’ve always loved him. We still love him.”

Mahomes explained that he believed Hill was just creating some controversy in order to get his podcast off the ground.

“I’m sure it had something to do with trying to get his podcast some stuff and get it rolling,” he added.

Tyreek Hill was a fifth-round selection by the Chiefs in 2016 and has since established himself as one of the best wideouts in the league. During his six years in Kansas City, Hill earned six Pro Bowl nods, received three First-Team All-Pro honors, and won one Super Bowl ring.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ high-octane offense will have to keep on running without one of its major pieces. Speedy Pro Bowl wideout Tyreek Hill is leaving Kansas City after the Chiefs traded him to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for picks.

According to the official announcement, the Dolphins parted ways with five draft picks to get Hill. The Chiefs received this year’s No. 29 first-round pick (via San Francisco 49ers), 2022 second-rounder, and fourth-rounder alongside fourth-round and sixth-round selections next year.

As part of the trade, Hill will also receive a new contract from the Dolphins. The player’s agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the deal is for four years and $120 million and includes $52.5 million in guarantees.

Tyreek Hill’s departure caught everyone off-guard except the Chiefs. As it turns out, Hill was asking for a contract extension that would make him the league’s highest-paid wide receiver, and the franchise was reluctant to make that happen. When it became clear Kansas City won’t accept his demands, the 28-year-old player requested a trade.

The Chiefs acted swiftly and worked the phones until they received satisfactory offers from the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins. Hill received an opportunity to choose his next destination, and he picked the Dolphins.

Hill entered the league in 2016 as Kansas City’s fifth-round pick. He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first six seasons in the league while earning three First-team All-Pro selections and receiving the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team nod. His career stats include 479 receptions for 6,630 yards and six touchdowns.

The Buffalo Bills ended up hurting the Kansas City Chiefs in more ways than one in their Sunday Night Football clash. Besides suffering a tough 38-20 loss at home, the Chiefs also saw four starters end the game with injuries.

The Chiefs’ number one running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire had the most severe injury, being forced to exit the game in the third quarter after being tackled by several Bills players. The injury is reportedly a left knee MCL sprain and will keep the 22-year-old on the sidelines for “a few weeks”, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Kansas City head coach Andy Reid confirmed the injury in his post-game conference but didn’t offer many details past that.

“As far as injuries go, Clyde [Edwards-Helaire] hurt his left knee,” Reid told reporters. “We’ll just see how it goes overnight here and into tomorrow.”

Edwards-Helaire has 304 rushing yards through the first five games in 2021. The Chiefs will likely turn to veteran duo Darrel Williams and Jerick McKinnon in his absence.

Reid also revealed that Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill, star tight end Travis Kelce, and guard Joe Thuney picked up injuries as well. Hill hurt his knee, Kelce “a little bit of a stinger,” while Thuney suffered a hand fracture. All three players managed to finish the game and reportedly won’t miss time.

The Chiefs find themselves in a tough situation, and any further absence of their key players could be devastating for their Super Bowl aspirations. They currently sit at the bottom of AFC West and only have a 2-3 record to show for in the first five weeks.

Kansas City Chiefs’ wideout Tyreek Hill might use his astonishing speed to compete in another sport besides football. Hill recently said that he would like to compete at the Olympic Games one day as a track and field athlete.

Back when he was in high school, Hill ran 100m in 9.98secs and competed in track and field competitions before deciding to focus on football. After he already established himself as one of the best WRs in the game, the 25-year-old speedster would now like to prove himself in another sport.

“Hopefully after the season, if I’m healthy and my mind is still in the right place, I really want to try and like try to qualify for some Olympic teams,” said Hill in a recent chat with reporters.

Although he didn’t run 40-yard dash at the combine, Hill is widely regarded as the fastest player in the league at the moment.

“Maybe get a few guys off the team and see if we can put a relay together, and show these track guys that football guys, we used to do this back in high school, man, we still got it, you know?,” he added.

Hill wouldn’t be the first NFL player to take part in the Olympics. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Jeff Demps participated at London Olympics in 2012 as a member of the United States’ 4x100m relay team while former Detroit Lions RB Jahvid Best ran 100m at the 2016 Olympics.

Before taking a shot at Olympic Gold, Tyreek Hill will first look to add a Super Bowl ring to the list of his achievements. Hill and Chiefs will play in the Super Bowl LIV against San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Hill finished the 2019 NFL regular season with 860 and seven touchdowns, despite only playing 12 games. He was also selected to his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl.

Just before the start of the 2019 NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs got some important business out of the way.

The team inked wide receiver Tyreek Hill to a big $54 million extension that includes $35 million in guaranteed money and is good for three years. This deal is projected to keep the big-play receiver with the team through the end of the 2022 season.

The Chiefs, considered to be one of the Super Bowl favorites for this season and for the years coming forward, knew that they needed to secure a long-term deal with Hill in order to keep one of their offense’s main cogs with the team.

Hill has been named a Pro Bowler in each of his three NFL seasons since being drafted in 2016. His big-play threat and game-breaking speed provide the Chiefs with a rare aerial threat that gives opposing defenses nightmares.

The Florida native took his performance to a new level in 2018, setting career highs in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. He ended the season with 12 touchdowns.

Hill and the Chiefs will embark on their 2019 campaign when they travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars in a Sunday matinee this weekend.

Despite his off-the-field issues, Kansas City Chiefs are sticking with Pro Bowl wideout Tyreek Hill. The team announced on Friday that Hill signed a three-year extension, which will keep him with the organization through 2022.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Hill’s deal is worth $54 million and comes with $35.5 million in guaranteed money. The 25-year-old will also get $5.8 million signing bonus.

Hill, who had one year left on his rookie contract, earned his extension with a career season in 2018 in which he had 87 receptions for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Chiefs confirmed the deal on their social media by posting a photo of Hill inking the contract.

“We’re pleased we were able to reach an agreement with Tyreek to keep him in a Chiefs uniform for the foreseeable future,” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said in a statement. “He understands our expectations of him as a member of this team and community. Tyreek is an elite player in this league and has played a major role in our team’s success, and we’re pleased that he’ll continue to make an impact for us.”

Coming out of college, Tyreek Hill was projected to be undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft, as he had several off-the-field issues that usually scared teams off. Kansas City Chiefs, however, decided to roll the dice on him and take him in the fifth round.

Hill repaid the faith Chiefs had in him in his rookie season when he had 1,836 all-purpose yards. He was named into PFWA All-Rookie Team while also earning Pro Bowl selection, and First-Team All-Pro honors as a return specialist. His sophomore season was also a success as he earned another Pro Bowl appearance and had 1,183 receiving yards and seven TDs.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue my playing career here in Kansas City,” – said Hill after signing the deal. “Kansas City is my home, and I appreciate the love and support from Clark Hunt, Coach Reid and Brett Veach along with my coaches and teammates. To Chiefs Kingdom, you’re the best fans in the world.”
