Wideout Tyreek Hill’s recent unflattering comments about the Kansas City Chiefs were something his former teammate and quarterback Patrick Mahomes definitely didn’t see coming. Speaking with reporters earlier this week, Mahomes said that he was “surprised” by some things Hill said about him and the organization.

Hill, who was traded to the Miami Dolphins earlier in the offseason, opened up on his Kansas City exit in the first episode of his new It Needed To Be Said podcast. The Pro Bowler said that he felt underused by the Chiefs last season and that the team will struggle after his departure. Hill also indicated that he believes Dolphins’ third-year signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa is more accurate than Mahomes.

“I’m surprised a little just because I feel like we love Tyreek here,” Mahomes said when asked about the comments. “We’ve always loved him. We still love him.”

Mahomes explained that he believed Hill was just creating some controversy in order to get his podcast off the ground.

“I’m sure it had something to do with trying to get his podcast some stuff and get it rolling,” he added.

Tyreek Hill was a fifth-round selection by the Chiefs in 2016 and has since established himself as one of the best wideouts in the league. During his six years in Kansas City, Hill earned six Pro Bowl nods, received three First-Team All-Pro honors, and won one Super Bowl ring.
