Sources revealed on Thursday that the Tennessee Titans are set to sign former Chicago Bears pass-rusher Trevis Gipson. The 26-year-old, who was released by the Bears on Tuesday, appeared to exhibit his excitement at the prospect of the trade by posting “Titan up let’s go!!!” on social media platform X.

Gipson enjoyed a breakout season with the Bears in 2021, hitting seven sacks and five forced fumbles that year. The Tennessee Titans have revealed more details about their new stadium, that will start construction early next year. The yet-to-be-named stadium will be worth $2.1 billion, have 62,000 seats, and is expected to be opened in time for the 2027 season.

The Titans shared a video on their social media that shows how the new stadium will look while also providing examples for additional uses. 

The Titans are currently playing their home games at the 69,000-seat Nissan Stadium, which was built in 1999. The Titans initially planned to renovate their existing stadium but paused the efforts in 2022 due to “rising costs” and “the antiquated structure.”

The team announced its intention to build a new stadium in late 2022 and received approval from the city of Nashville to use $1.26 billion in public funding earlier this year. It is the largest public funding expenditure for a stadium, surpassing the $850 million Buffalo recently approved for the construction of the new home stadium for the Bills.

The Titans’ new home promises to afford fans a better experience with an improved seat layout. It will feature artificial turf and a translucent dome. The plan is to use the stadium to attract high-profile events to Nashville, like Super Bowl, College Football Playoffs, and more.

Defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons has agreed in principle to a four-year contract extension with the Tennessee Titans, sources revealed to ESPN on Friday. The deal, which is reportedly worth $94 million, is expected to consist of $66 million in guarantees and a further $24 million signing bonus.

Simmons, who was selected by the Titans as the number 19 overall draft pick, has been involved in four seasons with the Titans. He has made 21 sacks, 28 tackles, and 46 quarterback hits during his Titans career.

This contract extension provides long-term security for Simmons and a future with the Titans. Prior to agreeing to the deal, Simmons was set to exercise his fifth-year option at $10.75 million. Signing an extension with Simmons was a priority of new Titans general manager Ran Carthon, who arrived at the team in January.

“We are not done yet,” Simmons said on Twitter. “We have so much work to do!”

Last year proved to be a breakthrough season for Simmons, with the 25-year-old player posting 7.5 sacks despite playing the final eight games with an injured ankle.

The Tennessee Titans decided to be cautious with the way they bring their star back Derrick Henry back to action from a right foot fracture. According to the team’s head coach Mike Vrabel, while Henry is set to be a full participant in training camp, the 28-year-old player won’t be featured in preseason games this year.

“I wouldn’t anticipate seeing Derrick in the preseason games,” said Vrabel during a press conference on Thursday.

Vrabel also added that the Titans intend to modify their approach to Henry’s practice regimen and try a few “different things.”

Derrick Henry started the 2021 season red-hot, rushing for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns in the first eight weeks of the campaign. Unfortunately, he suffered a Jones fracture in his foot during the Week 8 clash against the Indianapolis Colts and was sidelined for the remainder of the season. When the injury occurred, Henry led the league in carries, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns while also being on pace to break the NFL’s single-season rushing record.

Despite not being fully recovered, Henry returned to the field for the Divisional Round game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He finished the contest with 62 yards on the ground and a TD but couldn’t help the Titans avoid a 19-16 defeat.

Winning football games is a lot easier when you have a player like Derrick Henry on your side. Henry once again made a case for being the best running back in the league on Monday night, scoring three touchdowns and carrying the Tennessee Titans to a 34-31 upset win over the Buffalo Bills.

The Titans trailed the game multiple times, but Henry found a way to flip the score in their favor each time. His first TD came in the second quarter and it was a thing of beauty. The Pro Bowler broke free on 1st&10 and carried the ball for 76 yards to make it 7-6 for Tennessee after the Bills scored two field goals.

Tennessee found themselves down again in the third quarter so Henry went to work and got his team on top with another TD run.

Henry’s third touchdown came late in the fourth when he sliced through the Bills’ defense on a 13-yard run. The score put Tennessee back on top with a 34-31 lead.

The Bills got the ball back with less than three minutes remaining and marched 79 yards down the field to find themselves staring at 4th&1 on the Titans’ three-yard line. The field goal would tie the game, but Buffalo decided to go for it. Quarterback Josh Allen attempted a QB sneak which ended up going nowhere as Tennessee’s defense stuffed him on the line of scrimmage and made the game-winning stop.

Derrick Henry finished the contest with 143 rushing yards on 20 carries while also adding two catches for 13 yards on top of his three touchdowns. This was Henry’s third time in the last five weeks to have three TDs in a single game.

The Titans are now comfortably first in AFC South with a 4-2 record and two more wins than the Indianapolis Colts on the second. The Bills, on the other hand, have the record on top of AFC East.

Only four and a half years after selecting quarterback Marcus Mariota with the 2nd overall pick in the NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans had enough on Sunday afternoon in a loss to the Denver Broncos.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel had enough in the third quarter of Tennessee’s 16-0 loss to the Broncos in Denver on Sunday, benching Mariota after a frustrating first half.

Mariota completed only 7 of 15 passes in a dreadful game against a weak Broncos secondary, throwing for 63 yards and two interceptions. The performance was a lowlight on a bad day for the Titans, who moved to 2-4 on the season with the loss.

Vrabel replaced Mariota with former Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who was signed during the offseason to serve as the Hawaiian’s backup. The former #8 overall pick played better, going 13-16 through the air for 144 yards. He did, however, throw an interception.

The former Oregon Duck has had a slow start to the season, only having thrown for 1,179 yards and 7 touchdowns in the game’s first five games. His two interceptions on Sunday were his first picks of the season.

It’s still unknown if the move to put Tannehill in as quarterback will be a permanent decision or if Mariota will regain his starting position. What’s undeniable is that there is now quarterback uncertainty and controversy in Nashville.

Tennessee Titans are forced to make a change on kicker position just days before their first games of the 2019 NFL season. After placing starter Ryan Succop on injured reserve on Wednesday, Titans signed veteran Cairo Santos in a corresponding move.

Succop underwent knee surgery during the offseason but was taken out of physically unable to perform list in mid-August.  It seemed like the 32-year-old was ready to go after making two preseason appearances, but things took a bad turn in recent days. Succop felt like he isn’t 100 percent, so the Titans didn’t want to risk anything and brought Santos as an emergency solution.

Santos spent the better part of 2018 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing seven games with the organization. He converted nine out of 12 field goals while being 100 percent accurate on extra points (17 out of 17). Despite this, Buccs decided to move on from him, releasing him last weekend.

While Santos knows that his stint with Titans could also be short-lasting, he doesn’t intend to let that distract him from his job.

“I am only here to make every single kick and will worry about one game at a time to help the team win,” – said Santos. “If it is for eight games, until (Ryan) comes back, or throughout the season, I’ll just worry about one game at a time. My goal is to make all my kicks for as long as I am here.”

Titans’ will open the season in Cleveland, where they will face the Browns on Sunday.

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Rishard Matthews asked to be released on Wednesday following a dispute over his limited play time with the team.

“Everything is good!” Matthews told A to Z Sports. “Just wasn’t happy with what was going on barely getting any playing time. It was time to move on.”

Matthew claimed the Titans were using his recent injury as a scapegoat to deny him playing time despite being their best receiver in the last two years.

“I’ve been the leading receiver for two years. Then all of a sudden I’m barely playing and not even starting,” Matthews continued. Using my injury as the scapegoat. Look at the number of snaps and targets.”

Contract Situation

At the start of this season, the 28-year old had negotiated a one-year extension with an option to extend the pact in 2019 for $7.75 million. No part of the contract included guaranteed money.

During his time in Nashville, Matthews recorded 65 catches for 945 yards and nine touchdowns in the 2016 season. In 2017, he logged 53 catches for 795 yards and four touchdowns. This season, the 28-year-old has had three catches for 11 yards.

The former Dolphins player missed most of the offseason with a knee and an Achilles injury. Titans are left with Taywan Taylor, Tajae Sharpe in the wideout positions.
