Floyd Mayweather knocked down Japan’s Tenshin Nasukawa three times before being declared the winner in the first round of an exhibition worth an estimated $9 million.

The former five-weight world champion was all smiles after winning an exhibition that just took 140 seconds in Tokyo. The fight was initially scheduled to run three rounds, each three minutes long. But once Mayweather entered the ring, Tenshin’s side threw in the towel before the first round was done.

“It was all about entertainment,” the American said. We had a lot of fun. They wanted this to happen in Japan, so I said ‘why not?”

According to the BBC, the fight almost never happened. Event organizers had trouble locating Mayweather, delaying the fight by several hours. Before the fight began, the 41-year-old took to social media to urge people to visit his Las Vegas strip club and watch the bout.

Both Mayweather and Tenshin were undefeated in their individual competitions. Despite that, the bout was heavily criticized, with some like boxer Amir Khan saying the exhibition was destroying boxing.

After the match, Mayweather heaped praise to his opponent and urged his fans to support the 20-year-old kick boxer.

“I’m still undefeated; Tenshin is still undefeated. Tenshin is a true champion and a hell of a fighter,” Mayweather said. “I want the fans around the world to support Tenshin, he’s a great guy and a great champion.”

On Tuesday, Nasukawa reiterated his zeal to defeat the 50-0 Mayweather. “I don’t care what the rules are. I want to be the man who changes history. I’ll do that with these fists, with one punch-just watch, the Japanese said.

Like Mayweather, Nasukawa holds an unbeaten record of 27-0 and is one of the most famous Mixed Martial Arts fighter in Japan. Mayweather seemed to acknowledge the talent on Monday, calling him “an unbelievable talent.”

“He’s very special, he’s fast, and he’s strong. I’m older now and when it comes to experience, I have it on my side. He has youth on his side and he’s going to bring a lot of excitement,” Mayweather said as praise to his opponent to be.

While the date for the bout has been set as New Year’s Eve, the rules are yet to be finalized. Mayweather is a boxer who relies on nothing else other than his punches. Nasukawa’s strong point is his legs. While it’s too early to say who will win, the winner could become clear once the rules are set.
