The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions once again after beating the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.

The Chiefs secured a 25-22 win by scoring a touchdown in the last seconds of overtime. It marked the franchise’s third Super Bowl trophy in the past five years.

The game started slow, with neither team managing to put points on the board in the first quarter. The 49ers managed to strike first thanks to Jake Moody’s 55-yard field goal before adding to their lead following Christian McCaffrey’s touchdown. The Chiefs also got on the board before the half, converting a 28-yard field goal.

Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an interception to start the second half, but the 49ers failed to capitalize on the mistake. This gave Kansas City an opportunity to bounce back, scoring 10 unanswered points to take their first lead of the game.

The fourth quarter saw the 49ers get in front again, with quarterback Brock Purdy finding wideout Jauan Jennings in the endzone. However, Moody failed to convert the extra-point attempt, something that will come back to bite the San Francisco team.

After each team scored a field goal, the Chiefs, facing a 16-19 deficit, got the ball with less than two minutes remaining on the clock. Mahomes and co. advanced to the 49ers’ 11-yard line but had to settle for a field goal to force overtime after running out time.

The 49ers got the first possession in overtime and orchestrated a 66-yard drive to set up a 27-yard field goal.

Upon receiving the ball back, the Chiefs took their time marching down the field. They were at San Francisco’s 3-yard line with 50 seconds remaining in OT but opted against a quick play. Instead, they snapped the ball with six seconds left on the clock, with Mahomes throwing the ball to wide receiver Mecole Hardman, who had an open lane to the end zone and scored a touchdown to give his team another Vince Lombardy trophy.

Patrick Mahomes was named MVP as he lifted the Kansas City Chiefs to Super Bowl LVII victory with a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.

Following the victory, Mahomes and the Chiefs will head to Disney World to partake in the winners’ parade, which is set to commence at 4:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Mahomes walked away with the MVP title despite aggravating his high ankle injury during the first half of the Eagles’ game. He continued with the game despite the setback, even scrambling 26 yards on the drive leading up to the Chiefs’ game-winning field goal.

“It felt great until I kind of rolled it a little bit,” Mahomes said of his injury. “I thought I felt really good and then that happened, and I had a lot of soreness going through into halftime and was able to move it around, kind of get taped up a little bit, and go out there in that second half. It didn’t feel good, but I was going to leave it all out there.”

This triumph marks the Chiefs’ Super Bowl comeback, having lost 31-9 to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers in Super Bowl LV. By winning this year’s Super Bowl, Mahomes becomes the 13th quarterback in the NFL to win multiple Super Bowl championships.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes battled through his high ankle sprain to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship game on Sunday, thereby booking his team’s place in Super Bowl LVII.

“People don’t realize how hurt he was,” Kansas City general manager Brett Veach said of Mahomes. “We all saw the injury. High ankles are terrible injuries, and sometimes guys miss two, three weeks, and he was out there and running for a first down and a big play in the game that got us in field goal range. But it just adds to an already great legacy.”

Mahomes was injured during his team’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars a week ago. Despite incurring the injury midgame, Mahomes pushed through to see out the remainder of the contest and went on to state his intention to play in the following game against the Bengals.

Despite playing through injury, the Chiefs quarterback made 29-of-43 passing while fumbling the ball just once throughout the game against the Bengals. In addition, he performed his final snap 17 seconds before the end of the game, thereby handing his team a last-minute victory.

Kansas City will face the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LVII on Sunday.

It’s all settled. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the best team in the NFL at the moment, and they have rings to prove it.

Despite being the underdogs entering the Super Bowl LV matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, the Bucs delivered a dominant performance that saw them blow out the defending champs with a 31-9 win.

The biggest credit for their memorable victory goes to Bucs quarterback Tom Brady and their defense.

Brady had a dialed-in game in which he completed 21 out of 29 passes attempted and didn’t turn the ball over while throwing for three touchdowns. Two of those scores went to his pal Rob Gronkowski, with whom he already won three Super Bowls during their time together with the New England Patriots.

“Great to see big-time players making big-time plays,” said Brady after the game. “Just love what they did, what they added to the team. Gronk is an unbelievable player, teammate, talent, work ethic, commitment.”

Tampa Bay’s defense, on the other hand, managed to shut down the league’s most feared attack almost completely. They constantly pressured quarterback Patrick Mahomes, intercepting him twice and sacking him three times. Also, the Chiefs managed to produce just 350 yards of total offense while failing to score a single touchdown.

“They took away our deep stuff,” said Mahomes. “They took away the sidelines, and they did a good job of rallying to the football and making tackles.”

At the age of 25, Mahomes will definitely have at least a few more chances to come back to the Super Bowl and come out on the winning end again.

The 43-year-old Brady, on the other hand, is putting the finishing touches on his legacy and removing all doubts that he is the greatest to ever play the game.

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest events that takes place in America every year. But it’s just because of the actual football. There are many other reasons people get excited every year about the Super Bowl, and now because of the pandemic, here are the five crucial things that will be different.

Fewer fans

There are still fans being allowed into the building, but considerably less due to the requirements of social distancing. Let’s be real, a football game isn’t really a football without a horde of screaming fans in the stands.

Smaller Parties

The Super Bowl is also about gathering people together. It’s about having massive barbeques and inviting all of your friends. With social distancing in full effect, there will much less of that excitement.

Less Awesome Commercials

If you didn’t watch Super Bowl commercials, did you even watch the Super Bowl? Unfortunately, most of the big corporate brands that normally make creative commercials won’t be doing it this year. That should be fun…

Less Media Hype

There’s nothing like hundreds of reporters crowded around a star player after winning the Super Bowl, but there surely won’t be anything like that this year.

No Halftime Show

And last, but certainly not the least, the Super Bowl is known for its awesome Halftime Show. We’ve seen countless great productions at the Super Bowl halftime over the years, but this year it’ll be watered down completely. Although The Weeknd is set to perform, you certainly won’t see hordes of fans crowded around the stage like normal.

After a four-month-long regular season, three rounds of playoffs, and one rest week before the fireworks begin, Super Bowl LV between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers is coming up on Sunday with a chance to win one of the biggest titles in sports on the line.

The Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl champions led by legendary coach Andy Reid and the biggest current star in the league in quarterback Patrick Mahomes, will have a tough task if they want to repeat as champs.

Quarterback Tom Brady shocked the football world by leaving the New England Patriots after twenty seasons, six Super Bowl titles, and three NFL MVP Awards and heading to the upstart Tampa Bay Buccaneers to revitalize the franchise, which hadn’t made the playoffs since 2007.

So, who will win the big game? Let’s break it down and choose a winner.

Offense

The biggest draw of this matchup is the incredible duel that should take place between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady, arguably the league’s best two quarterbacks.

Not only this, but both teams have elite receiving weapons. Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Sammy Watkins have been a nightmare for opposing secondaries on the Chiefs’ end, while the Buccaneers’ group including recently un-retired Rob Gronkowski and star receiver Mike Evans don’t fall far behind.

The two teams’ running games might not have much of an impact on the game, but the Chiefs are more of a threat to use their backs both on the ground.

Advantage: Slightly Chiefs

Defense

One of the reasons that so many people are choosing a shootout in this game is because neither the Chiefs nor the Buccaneers are quite known for having an elite defense.

Just ask the Tampa Bay secondary about how much it struggled in their first meeting against Kansas City. Tyreek Hill was able to total 269 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns, and Mahomes put up 462 in a 27-24 win.

While neither team has a great secondary, though we do think the Chiefs’ is slightly better, the Bucs do at least have one elite group: its run defense. They allowed fewer yards than any other team in the league, but will it matter against a pass-heavy Chiefs offense?

Advantage: Draw

Special Teams/Coaching

When it comes to kickers and punters, there is virtually nothing separating these two teams. Both Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker and Bucs kicker Ryan Succop made more than 90% of their field goals this season, while KC punter Tommy Townsend and Tampa punter Bradley Pinion both averaged just over 45 yards per punt.

Both teams are mediocre at returning punts, but KC has had more kickoff return success, averaging 25.8 yards per return and even racking up a touchdown thanks to Tyreek Hill’s work here.

Andy Reid and Bruce Arians are both excellent coaches in their own regard, but we have to give the Chiefs the edge, as Reid has won this level magnitude of game before and has decades of experience while Arians has been a head coach for less than a decade.

Advantage: Chiefs

Prediction

This could end up being a Super Bowl for the ages as two of the best offenses in recent league history duel.

It is difficult to pick against a player of Tom Brady’s pedigree, but the Chiefs are a more complete team and come into the game with the confidence of having done this before.

I predict that Kansas City will win a 34-30 shootout.

As legendary as the coming Super Bowl LV looks to be, the ticket prices haven’t reflected that. Some financial markets originally predicted that this would be the most expensive Super Bowl ever, but recent updates have shown that this is far from the case.

As of the first of February, the cheapest ticket for the upcoming Super Bowl between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs was $5,936. While that sounds extremely expensive, especially for the cheapest ticket, it’s actually not that much by recent Super Bowl standards.

In fact, the cheapest ticket at last year’s Super Bowl was much higher at $6,603. To put it into overall perspective, the most expensive ticket of all-time to get into a Super Bowl was in 2015, when the “cheapest” average ticket price was a staggering $8,764.

One might attribute this upcoming Super Bowl’s low price range to the pandemic—but on the contrary, financial experts reasoned that the limited seats would actually raise the prices. Add in the fact that the legendary Tom Brady would be representing the Bucs at their home field, against superstar Patrick Mahomes, and you’ve got an instant classic.

However, it seems as though the rush to buy tickets wasn’t as strong as people anticipated. Perhaps people understood that the limited capacity would actually make the Super Bowl less fun to attend, which could be why fewer folks were eager to shell out their small fortunes for tickets.

When most people think of Tom Brady, they automatically think of the New England Patriots. This is still the case even now that he’s on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers—but context is now a bit different.

If there was anyone who doubted the primary cause for the Patriots success over the years, we’d like to see them now. Especially because Brady has clinched a playoff berth yet again, while the Brady-less Patriots have just missed the playoffs for the first time in 11 years.

To make things even more profound, Brady advanced to the playoffs by beating the Detroit Lions with an incredible performance. The 43-year-old legend threw for 348 yards, four scores, and led Tampa Bay to a 47-7 victory.

If that’s not enough, he broke another record in the process. Brady is now the Bucs’ franchise leader for touchdown passes in a single season.

If Brady goes on to win the Super Bowl with the Buccaneers, it would do wonders for his legacy. Separated from New England, snagging another ring would be perhaps the most significant thing he’s ever done to solidify himself as the greatest quarterback of all time.

The NFL regular season has reached its halfway point, which means that it’s time to start thinking about which teams we can expect to compete for a Super Bowl berth.

There are a few teams that are clearly favorites to compete for a title in the AFC (think the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens), but there’s a big group of teams in the other conference which have been pretty good without being excellent this season whose statuses are still up in the air.

Let’s take a look at some of the good, but not great, teams in the NFC which look like a decent bet to make the playoffs but whose Super Bowl contention statuses are still to be determined.

Green Bay Packers (6-2)

The Packers are seemingly in the hunt for a playoff berth and a Super Bowl bid every season and that’s once again the case in 2020. Aaron Rodgers might not have long left in the league, but he’s hit his stride this season, throwing for 24 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions this season despite a fairly average receiving corps and a sputtering run offense.

In the wide-open NFC, betting against Rodgers would be a mistake. The team has holes and its defense is decidedly average, but a hot Rodgers in the playoffs would be plenty to lead them all the way to the big game.

Status: Contender

New Orleans Saints (6-2)

The Saints had the biggest win of any team in Week 9, absolutely demolishing Tom Brady’s resurgent Buccaneers by a 34-3 final score. This was New Orleans at its best: its secondary confused Tom Brady and forced 3 interceptions and Drew Brees was nearly impeccable, throwing for 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

Brees isn’t the player he once was, but he remains one of the most intelligent signal-callers in the game and has plenty of wide receiving weapons at his disposal. Can their defense be good enough to propel them forward to the Super Bowl? They just might be.

Status: Contender

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-3)

Tom Brady’s Bucs were the talk of the league during much of the first half of the season as the future Hall of Famer turned Tampa into a near-lock for the playoffs after years of mediocrity.

Nonetheless, this team isn’t even comparable to the Patriots teams that Brady won several Super Bowls during his tenure there. They’ve fallen short against the Saints twice (while getting severely out-coached), and they only have a 2-3 record against teams with winning records. This team appears to be a paper tiger.

Status: Pretender

Seattle Seahawks (6-2)

Let’s get one thing straight: Russell Wilson is the best quarterback in the league and is the odds-on favorite to walk away with this season’s NFL MVP Award. What he has done is truly outstanding, and he’s currently on a pace to challenge and break Peyton Manning’s record of 55 touchdown passes in a single season.

With that being said, what Wilson has done is so remarkable precisely because of just how bad this team’s defense is. They allow 455 yards per game, the league’s worst mark by a whopping 28 yards. They have no shot at showing down quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Kyler Murray, nor in the regular season nor in the playoffs. You can’t win in the playoffs without a functional defense, and Seattle doesn’t have one.

Status: Pretender

New Orleans will have to wait another year to host a Super Bowl. The city initially was supposed to provide the stage for the title game in 2024, but NFL owners voted on Wednesday to postpone the original plan for 2025.

The Saints confirmed the decision on social media, revealing that the Super Bowl LIX will take place on February 9, 2025, at their Mercedes-Benz Superdome stadium.

The NFL postponed the Super Bowl in New Orleans one year because the game would conflict with the popular Mardi Gras Festival that the city hosts on an annual basis. The overlap results from the league’s decision to add one extra game to its schedule starting 2021.

The postponement will now leave the Super Bowl LVIII in 2024 without a host. The NFL is expected to make a decision on the matter by the end of the year, with Las Vegas Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium being the early favorite.

The Super Bowl game for the 2020 NFL season will take place in Miami, with Tampa Bay, Los Angeles, and Arizona hosting the games in 2021, 2022, and 2023, respectively.

The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions once again after beating the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.
