Los Angeles Rams’ head coach Sean McVay is regarded as one of NFL’s brightest minds thanks to his innovative schemes and play calling as well as meticulous and detailed approach to each game. Still, it turns out that the latter one might have prevented him to win a Super Bowl.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, McVay said that he had too much time before Super Bowl LIII clash against the New England Patriots and ended up overanalyzing everything and being “over-prepared” for the game.

“In the back of my mind, [when making the Super Bowl game plan back in L.A.], I operated knowing I had another week,” – said McVay said. “That urgency to completely finalize the game plan wasn’t quite there, and that led to me watching so much film that you can almost water down your thought process.”

“You have so much time that you can overprepare and get away from some of the things that helped you get there.” – he added. “I watched every game from New England’s season. You see stuff that worked in, say, Week 3, but you forget about the amount of stuff that’s taken place since Week 3. You can watch so much film that you lose perspective. You have 18 games of film you can pore over. And then I even watched the Philly and Atlanta Super Bowls closely.”

McVay also admitted that he was “outcoached” by Patriots’ Bill Belichick and congratulated New England for having a better game plan and its execution.

Sean McVay took over the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, becoming the youngest head coach in modern NFL history at the age of 30. He led the Rams to 11-5 record in his first year, but failed to advance past the NFC Wild Card Game where they lost to Atlanta Falcons. In their second year under McVay, Rams improved to 13-3 record and were crowned the NFC Champions before suffering 13–3 loss to Patriots in the Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots’ former star tight end Rob Gronkowski might have announced his retirement earlier this offseason, but that doesn’t mean that his goofy antics have stopped.

At a pre-game celebration at the Boston Red Sox’s Fenway Park, Gronkowski added another weird moment to his list of antics.

The Lombardi Trophy is awarded to the winner of the NFL’s Super Bowl every year and is the most coveted piece of hardware in the league.

So, leave it to Rob Gronkowski to use it as a baseball bat and to put a dent into the Patriots’ coveted piece of hardware that they were awarded after winning Super Bowl LIII.

Despite his mischievous nature, no one could be too upset with Gronkowski. The legendary player retired this off-season after helping New England win three Super Bowls during his decade-long tenure with the team.

The Patriots have announced that, for now, they plan to leave the dent in the trophy. It’s a unique story that tells the story of the team and of their enigmatic tight end.

It might be fixed in the future, but for now, the Lombardi Trophy is going to remain perfectly damaged.

Although Super Bowl LIII was a defensive battle that ended with a 13-3 Patriots win over the Los Angeles Rams, the winner of the MVP award for the game was none other than wide receiver Julian Edelman.

Edelman lifted the trophy after catching 10 passes for 141 yards. He didn’t score a touchdown, but on a rough night for star quarterback Tom Brady, Edelman turned out to be his preferred and safest option.

The 32-year-old wide receiver, who won his third Super Bowl ring with the Patriots on Sunday night, caught crucial pass after crucial pass on Sunday. He frustrated the Rams’ defensiveness with his evasiveness and route-running skills which allowed him to get open on countless occasions.

Edelman was the first wide receiver to take home a Super Bowl MVP since Super Bowl XLIII in 2009, in which the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Santonio Holmes took home the hardware.

It was a gratifying end to the season for Edelman, who spent the first four games of the 2018 season suspended after failing a performance-enhancing drug test.

Although this will inevitably add some controversy to his award on Sunday night, it was undeniable that the undersized wide receiver was the best player on the field in Super Bowl LIII on Sunday night.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver is “100 percent” ready and is expected to play a big role when his team challenges the New England Patriots for Super Bowl LIII.

Speaking to reporters, Coach Sean McVay played down concerns that Gurley’s injury in regular season may have prevented him for the big game on Sunday.

“He’s feeling good,” the coach said. “A hundred percent.”

Gurley was left sidelined during the last two games of the regular season after he suffered an inflammation in his left knee. He came back in the game against the Dallas Cowboys and rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown.

During that game, however, the wide receiver played for only 32 snaps, leaving many to feel concerned for his injury. Speaking about Gurley’s limited time in that game, McVay said,

“He didn’t have that many touches, but he still played a good amount of snaps. We just weren’t able to run it as much as we’d like to, because New Orleans did a nice job stopping us.”

With Gurley fit, the Rams have an entirely ready squad for the Super Bowl. Kicker Greg Zuerlein was the only other player listed as limited besides Gurley but he’s already recovered and will be prepared for the game.

Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson has his eyes on the Los Angeles Rams after two seasons without qualifying for the playoffs in Tampa Bay.

Jackson, 32, revealed his interest for playing in the West in a podcast hosted by Simms & Lekfoe on Wednesday. During the interview, the receiver said he’d love to join Sean McVay but noted his current contractual agreement with Buccaneers puts a limit of where he can play.

“I don’t know about Frisco, man. State tax is crazy, man. That is home too though. I don’t know,” he said. “…if anything, I would like to kind of end up in L.A., being a Ram. Sean McVay, you know, we got some connection from when I was in D.C., but we’ll see how it plays out, man. Right now, I got another year in Tampa.”

Jackson previously worked with the Los Angeles manager in Washington back when McVay was the Redskins’ offensive coordinator. Of course, McVay being one of the best coaches in the NFL has something to do with it. His team is Super Bowl bound- -and will probably qualify for the playoffs next season.

When it comes to numbers, Jackson can certainly fight for a position in the Rams’ offense positions. His career average since 2008 is 17.4 yards per catch. In 2018, he caught 41 passes for 774 yards and four touchdowns in just 12 games. Whether he gets his way out of Tampa Bay, however, is only a matter of time.

New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty will consider retiring from the NFL should his team win Sunday’s Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams.

McCourty, 31, has spent his entire nine-year NFL career in New England, winning two rings and racking up 714 tackles, 80 passes and 21 intercepts alongside his twin brother Jason.

“I don’t know for sure, man, but I do look at retirement,” McCourty said. “If we can win this game, win it with my brother, I don’t know what else I could do that’ll top that. So I’m just trying to make sure I enjoy this season and enjoy these last couple days with these guys.”

While the safety back has racked up enough numbers to make it to three All-Pro teams and two Pro Bowl games, his’ brother hasn’t been that lucky. Most of Jason’s time in the NFL was spent with the Titans where he logged 505 tackles, 73 defense passes, 13 interceptions and six fumbles.

Jason spent eight seasons in Tennessee before a stint with Cleveland landed him a trade with the Patriots. Luckily, New England has been good to him, appearing in 16 games and tallying 70 tackles and 10 defense passes. On Sunday, the twins will play together for the ultimate prize, and there, Devin will make a clear decision about his future in the NFL.

Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots will face in the Super Bowl LIII on February 4th, after winning their NFC and AFC Championship games. Both teams needed overtime to get the win, with the Rams edging out the New Orleans Saints with a Greg Zuerlein’s 57-yard field goal, while the Patriots got the OT win against the Kansas City Chiefs thanks to Rex Burkhead’s rushing touchdown.

This was the first time in NFL history that both the AFC and NFC Championship games went to OT.

Los Angeles Rams started their games against the New Orleans Saints being behind 13 points and actually never got the lead, managing to get the equalizer after Greg Zuerlein scored a 48-yard field goal 18 seconds before the end of the regular time. New Orleans had the first possession, but their quarterback Drew Brees threw an interception on 2nd & 16, which LA a chance to win the game with the next score. Rams got the ball to around 40-yards and decided to trust Zuerlein that he will manage to score from that distance.  The 31-year old Pro Bowler didn’t disappoint and secured his team the first Super Bowl appearance since 2001.

“It’s unbelievable, man. I can’t put it into words,”- said Goff. “The defense played the way they did to force it to overtime. The defense gets a pick and Greg makes a 57-yarder to win it. That was good from about 70. Unbelievable.”

New England Patriots, on the other hand, opened the game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a furious run, scoring 14 points in the first half and managing to keep their opponent scoreless. Chiefs, however, managed to find motivation in the second half, and thanks to Harrison Butker’s FG, sent the game in overtime. Still, that didn’t help a lot, since the Patriots got the ball first with Tom Brady leading a game-winning drive to give New England their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance.

“We knew it was going to be tough,” – said Brady. “Kansas are explosive, and they have been beating teams here all year. It was awesome, what a game.”
