Wide receiver Allen Robinson has passed his physical examination with the Pittsburgh Steelers, sources revealed to ESPN on Wednesday. This makes his trade from the Los Angeles Rams official.

In exchange for their seventh-round pick (No. 234), the Steelers have received both Robinson and the Rams’ seventh-round draft pick (No. 251). In addition, the Rams will pay $10.25 million of Robinson’s $15.25 million guaranteed salary for the 2023 season, with the Steelers picking up the remaining $5 million.

Robinson’s arrival in Pittsburgh adds a deeper layer of experience to the Steelers’ lineup, at the same breaking ranks with the team’s typical strategy of building their roster through the draft as opposed to high-profile trades. The team has broken its status quo this offseason, however, embracing an aggressive free agency strategy that has seen the arrival of veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson and guard Isaac Seumalo.

During the last offseason, the 29-year-old Robinson signed a three-year, $46.5 million contract with the Rams. His season went awry in Week 12, however, when he suffered a left ankle injury against the Kansas City Chiefs. Following surgery, he missed the final six games of the season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are as good as advertised on defense so far in the 2022 NFL season despite injuries to some of their key players. But the same couldn’t be said for their offense, which especially fell flat in Sunday’s 17-14 loss to the New England Patriots.

The Steelers, led by veteran quarterback Mitch Trubinsky under center, managed to generate only 243 yards of total offense, including 152 yards in the passing game against the Pats. They also managed to convert just one of their red zone trips while turning the ball twice.

With Trubisky struggling in his two outings as a Steelers starter, many believe that it won’t be long before the rookie Kenny Pickett takes his spot. However, it appears the team’s head coach Mike Tomlin isn’t ready to make such drastic moves just yet.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, Tomlin said that he would remain patient with the offense as it currently is.

“I’m going to exercise appropriate patience and continue to teach and ask the guys to continue to learn in an effort to continue to push this train down the track and get better,” said Tomlin.

Tomlin also added that Trubinsky should have been more aggressive while throwing down the field but acknowledged that he isn’t the only one to blame for the shortcomings of the Steelers’ offense.

“We haven’t scored enough points here the last couple of weeks, but that’s a collective, not just the quarterback position, not just the players,” he explained. “It’s all of us are responsible for ringing up the scoreboard.”

The Steelers, who are 1-1 after two weeks, will have a chance to bounce back on Thursday when they play the Cleveland Browns.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ iconic Heinz Field is changing its name ahead of the upcoming 2022 NFL season. According to the announcement made by the team on Monday, their home ground will be known as Acrisure Stadium in the future.

The rebranding comes as a result of a 15-year deal that gave the naming rights of the Steelers’ stadium to Michigan-based insurance broker Acrisure. While the parties didn’t disclose the financial terms of the agreement, Acrisure will reportedly pay more than $10 million on an annual basis to the Steelers. For comparison, AT&T is paying around $19 million for the naming rights of the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium.

“Acrisure provided us with an opportunity to ensure our stadium continues to be a valuable asset for our fans as well as keeping up with the market value of NFL stadiums,” said Steelers president Art Rooney II in a statement.

The home stadium of the Pittsburgh Steelers has been known as Heinz Field since 2001. The condiment maker paid $57 million to have its name on the stadium for the next 20 years. The two sides prolonged the deal for 2021, and there was interest from Heinz to keep the partnership in the future as well. However, Acrisure’s offer was much more lucrative, and the Steelers decided to take it instead.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ playoff hopes are alive and well despite a rough start to the season. After beating the Chicago Bears in their Monday Night Football clash, the Steelers are now 5-3 and hold the second spot in AFC North. But it didn’t come easy.

The Steelers cruised through the first three-quarters of the game with three touchdowns. Rookie sensation Najee Harris scored on a 10-yard run to wrap up Pittsburgh’s first possession before quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and tight end Pat Freiermuth connected for two more TDs. The Bears, meanwhile, had just two field goals to show for up to that point.

The fourth quarter, however, saw a completely different Chicago on the field. The Bears opened the period with Darnell Mooney’s 15-yard touchdown run before being brought back into the game by the Steelers themselves. Pittsburgh’s Ray-Ray McCloud fumbled the ball during a punt return, and Chicago’s DeAndre Houston-Carson managed to pick it up and return it for a TD.

The Steelers then kicked a field goal to give themselves a 26-20 lead, but the Bears didn’t want to give up. With less than three minutes left on the clock, Chicago’s rookie quarterback Justin Field orchestrated a 75-yard drive that he capped with a TD pass to Darnell Mooney.

Finding themselves behind for the first time in the game, Pittsburgh kept its cool. Roethlisberger took his team down the field and managed to set up a successful 40-yarder for kicker Chris Boswell while leaving the Bears just 26 seconds to work with.

Chicago managed to put together a nice comeback drive but ran out of time to get further down the field. Stuck at Pittsburgh’s 47 yards, the Bears opted to give their kicker Cairo Santos a chance to win the game. Unfortunately for them, Santos’ kick from 65 yards didn’t have enough power and fell short of the goal.

While the Steelers put themselves in a good position with this win, the Bears’ season seems over at this point. They have a 3-6 record and are only ahead of the winless Detroit Lions in the NFC North.

While many were hopeful of a potential return to action amid a gradual recovery, the Pittsburgh Steelers confirmed on Saturday that outside linebacker T.J. Watt will not be available for selection for his team’s clash against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. This is due to an ongoing groin injury.

After injuring his groin during the first half of a Week 2 loss against the Las Vegas Raiders, Watt was forced off the field; unable to return for the second half of the clash.

“I think it was a tweak here or there and then tried to push through it,” Watt said of his injury. “Just trying to be smart at the end of the day, ultimately. It’s a long season.”

Sidelined alongside Watt is fellow outside linebacker Alex Highsmith with a groin injury of his own. As a result, the Steelers will have to rely on the services of Melvin Ingram and former undrafted free agent Jamir Jones.

Watt remains hopeful that Jones will be able to deliver a strong performance in his absence. Watt described Jones as a “spark” who has played impressively since first arriving at the team.

There are no more undefeated teams in NFL this season. The Pittsburgh Steelers, who had a perfect 11-0 start in 2020, saw their unbeaten run come to an end on Monday with a shocking 17-23 loss to the Washington Football Team.

Considering Washington’s good run in recent weeks, many NFL analysts predicted that the Steelers would encounter some problems in this game. But it didn’t look that way early on.

After each team failed to put points on the board in the first quarter, Pittsburgh took command in the second. The Steelers marched down the field 72 yards and capped off a passing-heavy drive with Ben Roethlisberger’s touchdown pass to Diontae Johnson.

Steelers had a shot to score more points shortly after, with Washington deciding to gamble on 4th & 1. However, Pittsburgh made a gamble of their own, passing the opportunity to kick a field goal and deciding to go for it on 4th and goal.

Washington’s defense stepped up, and rookie Chase Young made a last-second stop in order to get his team the ball back.

After Washington failed to find a way out of their own endzone, they punted the ball and gave the Steelers a good field position for another drive. As it turned out, Pittsburgh needed just one play to capitalize on it as James Washington broke a tackle and embarked on a 50-yard TD run to give the Steelers a 14-0 lead.

Washington, who scored a field goal in the dying seconds of the first half, entered the second period on a much better note. Their defense continued to be disruptive while the offense finally started clicking, and running back Peyton Barber produced a touchdown on their first drive in the third quarter.

Steelers responded with a field goal, but Washington went ahead and scored another TD to make it even. They then took the ball from Pittsburgh on downs and got the lead via Dustin Hopkins’ 45-yard FG.

At that point, Pittsburgh was ready to march down the field and turn things around as they’ve done many times before. But their drive ended up lasting just one play, as Roethlisberger’s throw was tipped by Montez Sweat and then intercepted by Jon Bostic.

Washington then kicked another field goal to make it 17-23, leaving almost no time for Steelers to try for a comeback.

With the win, Washington is now 5-7, and tied with the NY Giants for first place in the NFC East.

Steelers, on the other hand, are still comfortably ahead in AFC North.

After a truly bizarre 2018 season, running back Le’Veon Bell has finally found a home in the NFL.

Bell was let go by the Pittsburgh Steelers and let go earlier this month after refusing to play in 2018 after a contract feud that let to him missing the entire season.

The New York Jets agreed to a 4-year, $52.5 million contract with Bell on Wednesday. The agreement between the two parties will give Bell $35 million guaranteed, and the contract could be worth over $60 million if he fulfills incentive clauses.

Bell was considered one of the top running backs in the league before sitting out 2018.

The Michigan State alum was a first-team All Pro selection twice with Pittsburgh, in 2014 and 2017. He was also named a second-team All Pro in 2016.

Bell was given these accolades due to his fantastic performances with the Steelers. He set the Steelers’ franchise record with an 86.3 yard per game average and scored 42 rushing and receiving touchdowns in his four years wearing the black and gold.

Now, Bell will join a young New York Jets team that was one of the worst in the NFL last season.

The Jets hope that Bell will help their offense improve and lead them into playoff contention for the first time in several years.

After spending nine years with the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise, Antonio Brown has decided that he wants to move on.

The superstar wide receiver requested a trade to the team’s front office on Tuesday, confirming suspicions about his unhappiness with the team.

Rumors about Brown’s future with the team began when he didn’t show up to practice the week before the Steelers’ season finale against the Bengals, and then didn’t play in the game.

Brown, who will turn 31 in July, was drafted by the Steelers back in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Central Michigan. Despite being an unheralded 6th round pick, he has developed into one of the NFL’s top receivers.

Brown has made the Pro Bowl 7 times in his 9 NFL seasons, including a current streak of 6 consecutive years. He has twice led the NFL in receiving yards, and twice in receptions.

Last season, he led the league in touchdown catches with 15.

Despite his success, Brown has asked to move on to join another franchise. After publicized squabbles with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as well as team ownership, it became clear to the Miami native that it was time to move on.

After requesting the trade on Tuesday, Brown publicly said goodbye to Steelers fans with a video on twitter:

Now, time will tell where Brown’s next destination will be.
