Antoine Griezmann’s topsy-turvy debut season at FC Barcelona will come to a premature end (at least in league play) as the French forward has suffered a quadriceps injury that will make him miss a few weeks of action.

Griezmann suffered the injury in Barcelona’s 0-1 win at Real Valladolid on Saturday, which kept their slim La Liga title hopes alive. He was forced to be substituted at halftime of the match, which he was unable to complete.

The big ticket French signing has scored 15 goals and recorded 4 assists for the Blaugrana in all competitions this season, yet still failing to live up to the expectations which came along with his $135 million price tag.

This leaves Barcelona without one of its main attackers in its crucial final two games of the season, at home against Osasuna and on the road against Alaves.

Griezmann’s availability for Barcelona’s August Champions League matchups is yet to be determined, as his muscular injury could require up to a month of healing time.

Manchester City took home a resounding 5-0 win over Burnley on Monday night but was unable to leave the pitch with only positive feelings after key striker Sergio Aguero suffered a knee injury during the win.

The Argentinian striker, who has scored 23 goals across all competitions for City this season, limped off of the field just before the half-time whistle blew after experiencing discomfort in his left knee.

After City’s 5-0 victory, Pep Guardiola offered some sobering and realistic words about his striker’s injury, saying “It doesn’t look good. Something in the knee and we will see tomorrow. He felt something in his knee. He struggled in the last month with some pain in his knee.”

Aguero, who turned 32 earlier this month, is expected to undergo a surgical procedure later this week in Barcelona in order to fix the damage to his knee ligaments.
