]]>Inter Milan have been crowned Italian Seria A champions in a way that their fans will find particularly satisfying. They secured the 2023-24 title with a 2-1 win over their bitter cross-town rivals AC Milan on Monday night.
Inter opened the scoring in Derby della Madonnina through defender Francesco Acerbi in the 18th minute before forward Marcus Thuram made it 2-0 early in the second half. AC Milan managed to find the net in the 80th minute thanks to Fikayo Tomori, but that wasnโt enough to spoil their rivalโs celebration.
Inter is now sitting at the top of Seria A standings with 86 points, while AC Milan is second with 17 points less. There are five games left to be played in the 2023-24 Seria A season, making it impossible for anyone to catch Inter.
Inter won the Seria A last time in 2020โ21, before finishing second and third, respectively. However, they managed to win the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup in each of the past two seasons.
With another Seria A title in their cabinets, Inter now has a total of 20 national league titles, which is one more than AC Milanโs 19 and second most in Italian soccer. Juventus has the most top-flight titles with 36.

]]>The red and black part of Milan is once again the best of the best in Italy. AC Milan made another step in its return to being one of Europe’s powerhouses again by claiming the Seria A title for the 2021-22 season. This is the club’s first domestic title in more than a decade.
AC Milan has been going back and forth at the top of Seria A table with their crosstown rivals and last season’s champions Inter for the better part of the campaign. But thanks to a good run towards the end of the season, Milan entered their last match against Sassuolo in charge of their own destiny. Any sort of win would get them Scudetto regardless of other results.
While Sassuolo proved to be a tough nut to crack, especially at their home stadium, Milan didn’t have any issues overcoming the last obstacle. Rossoneri took care of the business in the first half, rushing to a 3-0 lead. Olivier Giroud scored twice, and Franck Kessie added one goal to alleviate any concerns Milan fans might have. However, the second period turned out to be a formality, as Sassuolo didn’t show much willingness to change the score or attempt a comeback.
Milan won their last Seria A title in 2010-11, but this trophy was followed by some dark days. Since then, they only won Supercoppa Italiana and routinely finished out of the Champions League places on the standings. However, this season showed that the sleeping giants are starting to awake, and there is no doubt Rossoneri will once again be a force in Europe as many years before.

]]>Juventus are Seria A champions once again. The Turin club claimed their ninth straight title in Italy on Sunday after a 2-0 win over Sampdoria.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring late in the first half after an impressive assist from Miralem Pjanic, while Federico Bernardeschi sealed the win with a goal in 67th minute. Juve’s job was made even easier ten minutes later when Sampdoria’s midfielder Morten Thorsby received a yellow card.
The victory put Juve seven points clear ahead of their closest rival Inter Milan with only two games left to be played in 2019/20 Seria A season.
Juventusโ run of nine consecutive domestic league titles is among the best in Europe and parried only by Scottish giants Celtic and Bulgarian powerhouse Ludogorets. Juve also extended their Seria A trophies record to 36, double than its closest followers Milan and Inter Milan.
“This championship has a particular flavor, certainly a strong one,” said manager Maurizio Sarri. “Winning is difficult, this team has been won for many years, and therefore every year it becomes more difficult.”
Juventus now looks to turn their attention to UEFA Champions League, where they havenโt had so much success in recent decades. They are scheduled to play the second leg of their round-of-16 matchup against Lyon in early August. The first match ended with a 1-0 victory for Lyon.
