There will be no questions surrounding Sean McVay’s position as the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams in 2024. During a recent appearance on The Coach McVay Show, McVay promised he’ll be back with the team for the next season.

McVay flirted with stepping away from coaching in 2022, taking some time to think about his future in the NFL. He cited burnout as well as “professional failure” following a disappointing campaign as the reasons for the uncertainty.

At one point in The Coach McVay Show, there was a discussion about McVay being close to breaking John Robinson’s franchise record for most wins by a head coach. McVay asked “how far ahead” Robinson is, to which host J.B. Long responded that the record is in “striking distance next season” if McVay can “promise” there will be a Coach McWay show next season.

“That I can promise you,” McVay responded.

McWay, who took over as the Rams head coach in 2017, currently has 69 regular season wins. He needs seven more wins to surpass Robinson, who won 75 games during his nine years with the franchise.

After winning the Super Bowl in 2021, the Rams endured a disappointing campaign in 2022 that saw them finish with a 5-12 record. However, the franchise bounced back this season, currently sitting at a 9-7 record with a wild-card spot in the playoffs already secured.

The Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has decided to remain with the team going into the new season, the team announced on Friday. The update comes after McVay stated during his end-of-season news conference that he would be taking the “appropriate time” to decide on his next move.

Following a 5-12 season, this was McVay’s worst season with the Rams since joining the team in 2017. The team suffered an array of injury setbacks, including that of starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Cooper Kupp and defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

“I know I love football and I’m so invested in this thing and I’m in the moment right now,” McVay explained. “But at some point too, if you said, ‘What do you want to be able to do?’ I want to be able to have a family, and I want to be able to spend time with them.”

Hired by the Rams just before his 31st birthday, Sean McVay was made the youngest head coach in NFL history. With a record of 67-41, McVay has led the Rams to three NFC West titles, two NFC championships, and the Super Bowl LVI in 2022.

Sean McVay and the LA Rams wished that their season would end sometime in January, or even better with another Super Bowl run, but their disappointing season will end in week 17. Out of playoff contention, they will be playing their last home game ever at the iconic LA Coliseum against the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.

Although the Rams only recently moved back to LA in 2016, their history with the Coliseum goes back much farther than that. The Rams originally moved to LA from Cleveland in 1946 and called the Coliseum home from 1946 until 1979 when they played in Anaheim Stadium until their move to St. Louis in 1994.

For Clay Mathews, his final game at the Coliseum will be an emotional one, as there is much family history there. His father Clay, uncle Bruce, and brother Kyle, all played here for the USC Trojans before he joined as well, and helped the Trojans to 4 straight Rose Bowls.

Although the Rams will be moving only 10 miles down the road to SoFi Stadium next season, the Coliseum isn’t going anywhere. The iconic stadium built in 1923, has many memories of college championships, NFL games, a baseball world series, and even two summer Olympics.

Los Angeles Rams’ head coach Sean McVay is regarded as one of NFL’s brightest minds thanks to his innovative schemes and play calling as well as meticulous and detailed approach to each game. Still, it turns out that the latter one might have prevented him to win a Super Bowl.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, McVay said that he had too much time before Super Bowl LIII clash against the New England Patriots and ended up overanalyzing everything and being “over-prepared” for the game.

“In the back of my mind, [when making the Super Bowl game plan back in L.A.], I operated knowing I had another week,” – said McVay said. “That urgency to completely finalize the game plan wasn’t quite there, and that led to me watching so much film that you can almost water down your thought process.”

“You have so much time that you can overprepare and get away from some of the things that helped you get there.” – he added. “I watched every game from New England’s season. You see stuff that worked in, say, Week 3, but you forget about the amount of stuff that’s taken place since Week 3. You can watch so much film that you lose perspective. You have 18 games of film you can pore over. And then I even watched the Philly and Atlanta Super Bowls closely.”

McVay also admitted that he was “outcoached” by Patriots’ Bill Belichick and congratulated New England for having a better game plan and its execution.

Sean McVay took over the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, becoming the youngest head coach in modern NFL history at the age of 30. He led the Rams to 11-5 record in his first year, but failed to advance past the NFC Wild Card Game where they lost to Atlanta Falcons. In their second year under McVay, Rams improved to 13-3 record and were crowned the NFC Champions before suffering 13–3 loss to Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver is “100 percent” ready and is expected to play a big role when his team challenges the New England Patriots for Super Bowl LIII.

Speaking to reporters, Coach Sean McVay played down concerns that Gurley’s injury in regular season may have prevented him for the big game on Sunday.

“He’s feeling good,” the coach said. “A hundred percent.”

Gurley was left sidelined during the last two games of the regular season after he suffered an inflammation in his left knee. He came back in the game against the Dallas Cowboys and rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown.

During that game, however, the wide receiver played for only 32 snaps, leaving many to feel concerned for his injury. Speaking about Gurley’s limited time in that game, McVay said,

“He didn’t have that many touches, but he still played a good amount of snaps. We just weren’t able to run it as much as we’d like to, because New Orleans did a nice job stopping us.”

With Gurley fit, the Rams have an entirely ready squad for the Super Bowl. Kicker Greg Zuerlein was the only other player listed as limited besides Gurley but he’s already recovered and will be prepared for the game.

Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson has his eyes on the Los Angeles Rams after two seasons without qualifying for the playoffs in Tampa Bay.

Jackson, 32, revealed his interest for playing in the West in a podcast hosted by Simms & Lekfoe on Wednesday. During the interview, the receiver said he’d love to join Sean McVay but noted his current contractual agreement with Buccaneers puts a limit of where he can play.

“I don’t know about Frisco, man. State tax is crazy, man. That is home too though. I don’t know,” he said. “…if anything, I would like to kind of end up in L.A., being a Ram. Sean McVay, you know, we got some connection from when I was in D.C., but we’ll see how it plays out, man. Right now, I got another year in Tampa.”

Jackson previously worked with the Los Angeles manager in Washington back when McVay was the Redskins’ offensive coordinator. Of course, McVay being one of the best coaches in the NFL has something to do with it. His team is Super Bowl bound- -and will probably qualify for the playoffs next season.

When it comes to numbers, Jackson can certainly fight for a position in the Rams’ offense positions. His career average since 2008 is 17.4 yards per catch. In 2018, he caught 41 passes for 774 yards and four touchdowns in just 12 games. Whether he gets his way out of Tampa Bay, however, is only a matter of time.

Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald will not be joining his team anytime soon according to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter. Donald, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, is seeking a new contract and has been holding out through the better part of the offseason. Rams coach Sean McVay also confirmed that there are no indications when the situation might be resolved anytime soon.

I don’t think anything is going to change with that in the near future,” – said McVay on Monday. “I’ve had a little bit of dialogue with Aaron and we’re hopeful that we’ll get something done, but I don’t think there’s any realistic deal to August 7th being a date that changes really anything, but you never know.”

Things remain the same. I’m looking forward to trying to connect with him later on today, and we’ll see where we’re at.” – he added.

Aaron Donald is entering the last year of his rookie deal, which will pay him $6.9 million. The 27-year-old, however, is looking to get a significant pay rise for his new contract. Donald is reportedly looking to become the league’s highest-paid defensive player in history, demanding $20 million per season. In 2017 offseason, Donald also refused to report for training camp also seeking an extension.

After being selected 13th overall by the Rams in 2014, Aaron Donald went on to establish himself as one of the NFL’s premier defensive tackles. He earned four consecutive Pro-Bow appearances since entering the league, while also getting three First-team All-Pro honors. In 62 career games, Donald has 148 tackles, 39.0 sacks, and nine forced fumbles.
