New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will, for the second time in his career, consider retiring from football once the Patriots playoff run is over. The 29-year-old had similar thoughts at the end of last season but decided to give his career one more run.

While he is one of the league’s best tight ends, Gronkowski’s career has often been disrupted by injuries. From the knees to his arms, chest, and back—the 29-year-old has had injuries take a toll on him for quite a while.

He has played 115 out of the 144 regular-season games he was eligible to play. However, the tight end doesn’t see injuries as an excuse not to produce results when he is needed to.

“I’ve been in situations like that before, no doubt… but it’s the game of football. There’s no room for excuses, everyone’s dealing with something and you’ve just got to keep on moving forward and you’ve got to find a way,” he said early this season. “It’s what makes this game great. You’ve got to be mentally and physically prepared at all times to keep on going.”

In the 13 games he’s played this season, Gronkwoski logged 682 yards and 47 passes. Since he was drafted in 2010, he’s had 521 passes for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns, an impressive record for a tight end by any means.

New England Patriots All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski has struggled with a back injury for several weeks and was forced to sit out three out of the team’s last four games. Fortunately for New England, it seems like those issues are behind him since Gronk told reporters that he is ready to play on Sunday against the New York Jets.

Definitely ready to get back there. I’m good to go,” – said Gronkowski on Friday. “I’m excited to be back out there with the team, and excited to get back out there on Sundays and play some ball.”

The last game Rob Gronkowski played in 2018 was the Pats’ road win against Buffalo Bills on October 30th. This means that by time Jets’ game kicks off, he is poised to be 27 days removed from competitive football. But, the 29-year-old doesn’t see this lengthy break as an issue.

I feel good. I’m ready to play. That’s all,” – he added. “I had a lot of good people to work hard with, do exercises, get everything back right and just keep on grinding every day so I can get back out there with my teammates. And that’s what it will be on Sunday.”

Rob Gronkowski played a total of seven games this season managing to catch 29 passes for 448 yards and a touchdown. The thing that worries the Patriots, however, is that this touchdown came in the season opener, putting Gronk on the longest scoring drought of his NFL career.

One of the burning questions which surrounded the upcoming Super Bowl LII was the condition of New England Patriots’ tight end Rob Gronkowski. Gronkowski suffered a concussion in the AFC Championship Game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and there was even doubt that he will participate in the Super Bowl game. Luckily for the Patriots, Gronkowski has been cleared from concussion protocol on Sunday and will play against the Philadelphia Eagles.

[I] officially got the word today that I was cleared. So it was super nice to hear from the doctors going through the whole process and I’m ready to roll,” – said Gronk. “I’ll be full-speed, taking on hits, blocking, running routes, whatever it might be.

The 28-year old All-Pro tight end returned to practice on Saturday but wasn’t participating in full until Thursday.

Rob Gronkowski was diagnosed with a concussion in the second quarter of the game against the Jags. The helmet of Jacksonville safety Barry Church, who was defending a pass that was coming towards Gronk, made contact, forcing him to leave the game early.

Although the New England Patriots would still be favorites without Gronkowski on the field, having won the Super Bowl last year with him being injured, having their star tight end on the field opens the world of possibilities for the team. He was the Patriots leader in this season in both receptions with 69 and receiving yards with 1,084. He also added 7 touchdowns in the regular season and one in the playoffs.

If you wondered why Rob Gronkowski was nowhere to be seen in the New England Patriots‘ 19-14 win vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there is a good reason. According to ESPN, Patriots star tight end was dealing with a left thigh injury. Gronk was added to the injury report on Wednesday being listed as questionable. He wasn’t on injury reports on Monday or Tuesday, while playing all 70 offensive snaps on Sunday vs. Carolina Panthers.
Speaking with reporters about the game against Buccaneers, Gronkowski didn’t mention he had any issues.

It’s definitely a challenge. It’s tough to already play a game Sunday and then be ready again for the following Sunday,” he said. “As I get older, too, I just see the difference, too. Just to prepare for a Thursday night game is totally a lot different.
“You’re on top of it right away. You’ve got to be on top of your body right away, starting yesterday, maybe do some overtime extra stuff tonight. But to be ready, to be prepared, you’ve got to go full in this week. Then in the back of your head, you’ve got some rest over the weekend. So just go full in, getting ready for the game Thursday night, and you’ll be good.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots expect both Gronkowski and running back Rex Burkhead (out with rib injury) to be ready for their next game against New York Jets which is scheduled for 10 days.

In his first 4 games of the 2017 season, Rob Gronkowski lead the Patriots in receiving yards with 318. Gronk also had 20 receptions and 2 touchdowns. While Patriots managed to get a win against the Buccaneers without Gronkowski, they are surely looking forward to having him back on the pitch since he is the team’s best player after QB Tom Brady.

New England Patriots fans can stop worrying for a bit. According to ESPN tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Danny Amendola are expected to play in Week 3 game against Huston Texans. Rob Gronkowski suffered a groin injury in the Patriots’ 36-20 win against New Orleans Saints and had to leave the game in the third quarter. During his time spent in the game, Gronkowski had 116 yards, 10 receptions and one touchdown. This was a great improvement compared to the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, when Gronkowski had 2 receptions for 33 yards.  After missing Wednesday’s practice, Gronkowski returned on Thursday and Friday but as limited participant. If we were to believe Gronk himself, he’ll definitely play against Texans.

Am I good to go? Yeah, I’m good to go,” Gronkowski said on Friday after practice. “I’m ready.

New England’s wide receiver Danny Amendola suffered a concussion in the season opener against the Chiefs and left the game in second half, while having 6 catches for 100 yards. He missed Week 2 game against the Saints. Amendola participated in practices on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but also on limited basis.

I feel really good. I had a strong week. It was rough sitting out last week. I was excited to get back out there this week, get back to work.” – Amendola said when questioned about his condition. “There’s going to be bumps and bruises along the way, just like any other season. That’s football, right? I feel really good today. I feel strong. I feel fast. I’ll get ready tomorrow and continue to prepare.

After Friday’s practice ended, Patriots shared injury report on their official Twitter account. According to the report, both Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola are listed as questionable. This shouldn’t be too alarming and Patriots probably just don’t want to rush anything and will make the final decision on the game day.
